Chapter 711 A Car Accident
Tiffany clutched at her chest, taking a half–step back as though frightened. Yet, a fake smile remained on her face. “Nothing’s wrong. Jose, it’s just the two of us now. Can we not mention others, please?”
She simply could not take in what others had to say, appearing entirely engrossed in her own world.
“It was supposed to be just the two of us when we went to Apex City the last time, but Lysa insisted on tagging along. I know you went to see her that night, and I know you spent the night together. I didn’t sleep a wink. My mind was filled with thoughts of spending an entire night with you when the opportunity arises…”
Just like that, the night passed in a stalemate.
Lysander had hardly rested her head on the table and dozed off for a few hours. when she woke up, visibly distressed. She looked around the old house’s deserted living room, uneasiness gripping her heart.
When she arrived in the early hours of the morning with Josiah’s things, Susan had still been awake. If he’s still missing today, it’ll probably be impossible to conceal that he might’ve encountered some dangerous situation any longer.
Nilou had just finished freshening up when she noticed that Lysander was awake. She walked over and tugged at the hem of the latter’s shirt, asking, “Dr. Thorne, are you worried about Josiah?”
“I…” Instinctively, Lysander wanted to deny it and make up a more suitable excuse. However, none came to mind. In the end, she diverted the conversation and asked, “Why are you up so early? Why don’t you go and sleep a little longer? Everyone is exhausted after last night.”
“I’m worried you might need help with something. Rhizone mentioned that he thinks the fake cop from last night closely resembles the person who had followed you and Aurora,” Nilou answered, displaying her keen observation.
In truth, Lysander shared the same sentiment. It was just that she lacked evidence to support her suspicions. The thought that the seal had been stored safely in the study gave her a slight sense of reassurance about the situation, but whenever she recalled the unusual behavior of those in the conference room, a chill would run up her spine.

Eleanor had prepared quite a lavish spread for breakfast, yet of all those seated at the table, only Aurora appeared to have an appetite.
As for Lysander, she barely had any appetite and only forced down a few bites to keep her strength up for the day ahead. When it was time for her to leave, Aurora seemed to sense something and burst into loud cries.
“Wahhh!”
Laura and Eleanor rushed over to soothe Aurora. One cradled and rocked her gently while the other patted her back to help burp her, worried the baby might choke after having just finished her milk.
However, not only did Aurora’s cries show no signs of stopping, but they grew even louder. Her little face turned red, and she looked as though she was about to run out of breath.
Susan noticed Aurora kept stretching her small hand in Lysander’s direction and said worriedly, “She seems particularly fond of Josiah and you. Last night, she only fell asleep after crying herself to exhaustion. What are we going to do today? Lysander, maybe you could head over to Guerra Group a little later?”
Left with no choice, Lysander had to halt her steps and take Aurora to soothe and comfort her.
Nestled in her arms, Aurora miraculously stopped crying. She rubbed her eyes while sniffling with one tiny hand holding tightly onto Lysander’s hair, refusing to let go.
Lysander’s heart melted. She wanted to bring Aurora along to check on the situation at Guerra Group but was unsure how to take her out.
With Josiah missing and the driver off looking for him as per Olivia’s instructions, I’ll have to drive myself if I want to go to the office. But Aurora’s still so little and unable to even sit in a car seat, so bringing her along would be impossible.
“Dr. Thorne, let me try. I used to carry Rhizone when I was little,” Nilou piped up as she pulled Rhizone forward, guessing Lysander’s dilemma.
Susan and Laura had already witnessed how intelligent and dependable the siblings were. Seeing that the pair was willing to follow Lysander to look after the baby, they felt at ease as they helped load the baby stroller and other baby supplies into the car.

Nilou and Rhizone sat in the backseat holding Aurora, one on each side. This arrangement allowed Lysander to drive without any distractions.
The day passed without mishap.
Although the project manager stormed into the office several times, every time, he was either turned away by Olivia or had Lysander cast the doubt back onto him. He could do nothing but leave with a scowl on his face.
Lysander exhaled deeply. Her sense of foreboding had not subsided. Instead, it had only intensified.
After a long and excruciating wait until the end of the work day, she chose to drive herself instead of using Guerra Group’s driver.
Olivia had taken a team to Riveron Corporation to investigate Tiffany’s whereabouts, and she could not trust anyone else in the company.
Nilou and Lily spent the entire day by Lysander’s side. Without needing any instructions from her, one carried Aurora while the other pushed the stroller, following Lysander and getting into the car.
On the way home, Lysander finally felt slightly more relaxed. After passing the busiest road in their journey, she glanced at the three kids in the rearview mirror and said in a relieved tone, “Aurora is very picky about people. She won’t let my mom and Susan hold her, but I didn’t expect her to be so well–behaved now.” Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
After receiving such praise, Nilou joked with a smile, “This just goes to show that Aurora has taken a liking to you. It was you who placed her in my arms this morning. Otherwise, she might not have let me-
Halfway through her sentence, a loud bang suddenly rang out from ahead.
Lysander managed to hit the brakes just in time, narrowly avoiding a collision with the car that had stopped in front of them.
Nilou and Rhizone, sitting on either side of Aurora, shielded the baby so that she did not get jostled. Then, almost as though on cue, the pair poked their heads. through the gap between the two seats in the front.
Up ahead, they saw that two cars had bumped into each other. It did not seem serious, but the two car owners involved in the accident looked rather agitated.

Lysander’s heart had nearly jumped out of her chest, and she was gripping the steering wheel tightly. Just as she was about to comfort the children, an immense force knocked her to the side.
Her seatbelt dug into her neck, making it difficult for her to breathe. Even so, she subconsciously lunged toward the back. Bracing herself against the pain, she stretched out her arms to shield the children from the impact of the car rolling
over.
A van had come unexpectedly from the side, seemingly out of control, and flipped. over the car they were in.
In an instant, the world seemed to spin.
Lysander’s head thudded against the back of the driver’s seat, but she dared not pass out. She struggled to unbuckle her seatbelt and managed to crawl into the back seat despite her dizziness.
Rhizone was strong and quick to react. The moment the car was hit and overturned, he promptly pulled Nilou and the baby carrier out of harm’s way. Thanks to him, they were spared from the scattered debris that could have caused further injury.
“Wahhh!”
Although Aurora was not hurt, she was extremely startled. Hence, her cries were much louder than usual.
Noticing that Lysander had trouble moving and looked as though she was injured, Nilou hastily checked on Aurora and said reassuringly, “It’s okay. Everything is okay. She’s fine. She’s just very scared and can’t stop crying.”
She attempted to soothe Aurora, but no matter how hard she tried, it was to no avail. Aurora was crying so hard that she could hardly catch her breath.
Beside herself with worry, Lysander asked, “How are you and Rhizone? Are either of you hurt?”
“We’re fine,” the siblings answered in unison.
“Okay. Just hang in there a bit longer. I’ll figure out a way to call the police.” Lysander’s phone had been flung under the passenger seat. She tried to retrieve it, but it seemed stuck and would not budge. She exerted a little more force, and a
