Sleep with me
She closed her eyes and turned a deaf ear, even though her throat went dry at her husband’s hushed voice. Jenica tried to calm her breathing but the hand resting on her waist was restless. Little by little it slid towards her wide hips.
She opened her eyes and quickly grabbed Alex’s mischievous hand. “Stop it,” she hissed, frowning a little, when his hand almost reached her forbidden place.
Alex chuckled. After a while, his hand rose to her chest, scooping those bunnies like they’re his favorite toys. Jenica drew a breath and quickly elbowed the man.
She moved, sat on his stomach — looking down at him like a proud goddess — and pinned both of his hands above his head. “Should I cut these naughty hands, mmm?” she asked, squinting a little at him.
Alex just smiled and stared at her, feasting on Jenica’s curves that were visible because of the tight nightgown she was wearing.
“Baby, you’re so hot,” whispered Alex.
Jenica squirmed and was about to leave on top of him when Alex quickly grabbed her waist to stop her from what she was planning.
“Grandma’s birthday is on the weekend,” Alex suddenly said. “I want you to come with me.”
Jenica glanced at him and raised an eyebrow. “What about Gia Antonete?” she asked, raising the corner of her lips a little. She remained sitting on his stomach, with both of her legs resting each on the man’s side.
She has planned to go to the party dedicated for the lady of the Fuegos, not as Jenica Laurel, but as one of her other identities. But Alex inviting her over, she might as well take this chance to make progress on her mission. But would Jared come?
“I’ll let them know you’re my wife.”
Jenica stared at Alex for a few seconds before she burst out laughing. “You must be kidding me,” She said.
“I’m not,” Alex said without a smile, “I want to make things right with you, Jenica.”
Jenica raised her hand and ran her hand through her hair. “What if I don’t want the world to know who I am to you?”
“You have no choice.”
She blinked and finally left on top of Alex. She sat on the edge of the bed and sighed. “Give me time to think,” she said.
“Alright.”
The next day she woke up early. It was still dark around and the air was cold coming into the room from the open balcony. She sat and got up.
She threw a side glance at Alex who was still sleeping on the other side of the bed. Jenica’s lips curled up a little. Both of them are not mischievous when sleeping that’s why she didn’t wake up in his arms.
That’s a relief. She didn’t want drama first thing in the morning.
She went into the bathroom to take a shower. But while standing under the shower, she was surprised when the door suddenly opened and Alex entered. His sleepy eyes looked at her.
“What do you think you’re doing?” she asked gruffly.
She stepped out of the shower, reached for the towel hanging nearby, and wrapped herself in it. She raised an eyebrow at Alex who looked all over her.
He smiled and said, “Can I eat you?”
The corner of Jenica’s lips rose. She chuckled. “Go find your honey girl if you’re hungry,” she said sarcastically referring to Gia Antonete.
Alex took a step closer to her and held her in his arms. He put his face on her shoulder and breathed in her scent. “I missed you,” he whispered. “Wife, can we…”
Jenica was silent for a few minutes before she spoke again. “Do you know how much I suffered being with you, Alexander?”
He hugged her tighter. “I know… I know. It’s my fault and I regret it all.”
“You regret what?” she asked even though she knew where he was going.
“You were young and I was reckless.”
“What?” Jenica frowned. When she realized what he was talking about, her lips pursed forming a line. “It’s not about that!”
Alex chuckled and stood tall, looking down at her. He tucked the strand of hair that escaped onto her face behind her ear. “I was not a good husband to you. I have many shortcomings. That’s why I’m asking for your forgiveness. Please, give me another chance to show how much I love you, Jenica.”Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
She took a deep breath and stared at the man who was now kneeling in front of her. He was looking at her with those pitiful and enchanting eyes that she had been so obsessed with. Jenica felt something in her chest. She knew in herself that she still loves this man and that her heart would go soft when he’s begging her like that.
She frowned slightly. “Five years ago, why did you do that?” she asked. “You let your men chase me to the ends of the earth. Do you know how much I hated you back then after what you’ve done? And you still wouldn’t let me go even if I begged you to let me sort things out for a moment.” She sighed, disappointed with him.
Alex took a deep breath. “It’s my fault. I didn’t consider your feelings. It’s my turn to beg and now I understand what you’d felt. Is there anything I could do so you can forgive me, Jen?” he asked.
Jenica reached her hand and messed his hair. Alex looked straight into her eyes. A moment of eye contact and she couldn’t help but to look away because her heart was beating so fast. “It’s not the right time yet to ask for it. Our child is still missing and I will only forgive you after you find my son Sham.”
Alex stared at her for a moment before he nodded, “I understand.”
Jenica raised her eyebrows. “Are you still doubtful of Sham’s existence?”
“It’s not like that.”
She removed the hand that was resting on Alex’s head. “So until now you still can’t find Sham because you don’t believe what I said? And you didn’t give your all to find the child, am I right?”
“Jenica.”
“I see.” She laughed a little. “It’s like that! I can’t believe I trusted you, Alex.”
“I’m trying to find the child,” said Alex. “Believe me. It’s just that I can’t disclose the information I got from my men. They’re almost there. But…” Alex stared at her seriously. “Please, will you let me take a look at his picture?”
It was only at that moment Jenica realized that she had not shown Sham’s photo to Alex. She clenched her fist and turned away.
She removed the robe from her body and quickly finished the shower, while Alex was just next to her, gazing intently at her, almost drooling. Well, figuratively. He didn’t take his eyes off her body until she finished taking a shower. Jenica put on new clothes and stepped out of the shower room.
She just heard Alex cursing softly behind her but she didn’t pay attention to it, and she heard the shower turned on when she stepped out of the bathroom and it made her smirked.
She sat in front of the vanity mirror after getting dressed. She was drying her hair when Alex came out of the shower room. The man was wearing only a towel wrapped around his waist, and Jenica noted that his figure looked more masculine than he were five years ago. Glancing at the bed, she pointed a finger on the small picture lying on it.
“Take a good look at him,” she urged.
Alex picked the picture up and stared at it for a few seconds. “He got his looks from you,” he said.
The corners of Jenica’s lips curled up. In fact, Alex looks a lot like Sham but it was nice to hear his words so she didn’t say anything and just accepted his praise.
When she stole glances at Alex, she saw subtle changes on his expression. Jenica knew then that the man already believed the existence of their son. But damn. She was a little hurt by the fact that Alex didn’t trust her as much as before, that she still had to produce evidence before he would believe her words.
Well, she knew that she doesn’t need validation from others but it’s undeniable that it’s still nice to be validated.
She threw that little pain at the back of her mind and sped up drying her hair. Then she left the room in hope to find something to eat in the kitchen.
But what made her stop in her tracks was the sight of the man sitting quietly in the living room, sipping coffee like he own the house. The stranger looked up at her standing at the top of the stairs and smiled. “Hello,” he greeted.
And Jenica was quite taken aback so she failed to respond on time. What the heck is Jared doing inside Alex’s house?
