Her Return, His Regret

Chapter 83~ A second chance

Ryan couldn't wait.

As soon as he put on protective measures for Lora and the children, he was ready to go and meet the children for the first time.

A few days had passed after the fake ceremony. Right after Ivy was exposed, the news of her deception and escape went viral. Everyone was shocked to learn the truth about her. Ryan even put up a bounty on her head. He wanted Ivy to be captured as soon as possible for the safety of his loved ones. The Williams were also being watched in case they had hidden their daughter, however, despite searching their properties and going through the whole city, Ivy was still at large. "Ryan, you can see them when you completely heal. I can meet them on your behalf at the moment," Diane, Ryan's sister, offered.

Ryan had discharged himself from the hospital but his personal doctor visited every few hours to change his bandages and administer his medication. Diane had temporarily moved back to the Kingsley mansion to take care of her brother. "Never. Grandpa already stole the first meeting from me... I won't let you meet them first before me as well," Ryan objected as he put on his jacket.

He wasn't going to let anyone else meet his children before he did.

Charles couldn't stop bragging about how he was the first to meet the twins when he went to look for Lora at the Davis & Co. Jewelry company. Ryan was jealous of his grandfather. The children were his but yet, they didn't want to meet him. Diane rolled her eyes and pouted. She replied, "Fine... but I'm meeting them soon after you do. I can't wait to see my nephew and niece!"

Ryan smiled at the thought of his children. It still felt surreal... who knew the news of Larisa being alive came with more blessings than he could ever imagine? Twins! Two children!

Ryan knew he didn't deserve this happiness but... no one could imagine the happiness he felt when he found out he had children.

When he thought Larisa was dead, he didn't have a reason to live. He just took each day as it came... not caring about tomorrow. Now that he knew she was alive and he was responsible for two adorable children, he would make sure he stayed alive- for them.

It didn't take long for Ryan to arrive at the Davis mansion.

As he waited for their doors to open, his heart couldn't stop beating rapidly.

He still couldn't believe it. Him? A father?

It was a miracle... perhaps this was God's way of telling him it was possible to have a second chance and he would use it to rectify his past mistakes. Finally, the doors to the mansion opened and when Ryan laid his eyes on the twins, his breath caught in his throat.

They were the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen and they were his.

Ryan couldn't contain his excitement.

That was why, despite his wounds not being fully healed, he didn't hesitate to scoop them both in his arms, his heart feeling warm and full. "I'm your father... I'll never leave you alone again," Ryan proclaimed, giving kisses to both Ella and Ethan.

Ella grinned from ear to ear as she asked, "So, you're going to live with us forever, Daddy?"

Ryan glanced at his daughter who had her mother's face. A doting smile crossed his lips as he answered, "I'll always stay with you, I promise." He looked at Ethan who he held with his other arm and remarked, "Ethan. I'm sorry for not being around... Daddy will make up for it."

Ethan pouted but he couldn't help but lean into Ryan. Deep down, he mused, 'So this is what Daddy's hug feels like. It's warm and comfortable.' On the side, Lora and Freya watched this scene. They shared a look before smiling.

'Perhaps this wasn't a bad idea... as long as he will shower the kids with love,' Freya thought in her mind, glad to see her grandchildren so happy. However, she could only approve of Ryan taking up his role as a father. He didn't have to be with Lora and cause her pain again. To Freya, not everyone deserved a second chance.

At the same time, Lora's heart was filled with conflicting emotions. She was moved by the love and care

Ryan showed the twins. The wamet

Ryan looked at the children with much love... it warmed her heart.

Seeing how happy the kids were, she knew she had made the right choice to allow Ryan into their lives. They deserved to have a father as long as he didn't run away from his

responsibilities.

"Daddy, Ethan said you have to make Mommy happy for us to be a complete family. Have you made her happy?" Lora was brought back to the present when she heard Ella's voice.

Her face flushed a light pink and her eyes widened at her daughter's words as she scolded, "Ella!"

Ryan let out a low chuckle. He placed the twins down before looking at Lora and replied, "She's right... I need to make you happy."

He got closer to Lora and got down on his knees, making her eyes widen in shock.

"W-What are you doing?" She questioned.

Ryan looked up at Lora, maintaining eye contact with her before saying, "I'm so sorry, Lora. I'm sorry for hurting you in the past and for

unknowingly hurting you when returned... please give me a second chance. And I'll prove to you that I can give you the life you deserve. I'll love you, pamper you and worship

Lora's breath hitched, her heart pounding erratically in her chest. She couldn't tear her eyes away from Ryan's gaze, her stomach fluttering with butterflies.

Ryan smiled and repeated, "Please give me a second chance, Lora. I'll treat you well this time around."

Lora gulped, her heart beating loudly like a drum. She opened her mouth to respond when a deep, angry voice echoed in the room.

"Over my dead body."
