Chapter 81~ Our home
When Ivy was being taken to the police station, her blood was boiling with anger.
'How dare they do this to me?' She mused in her mind.
Tonight was supposed to be special... everything got ruined because of Lora. That woman is like a pest who just couldn't stay dead!
How lucky was that bitch that every time she tried to kill her, she always survived?
Ivy clenched her hands into fists, glaring at the cuffs on her wrists. 'I can't go to jail. Not when Lora is still alive. I won't allow her to be happy with Ryan.'
A thought suddenly occurred to her and she looked at the two officers in front of the car before saying, "Officer, I would like to use the restroom."
The officer turned to glance at Ivy through the bars. He scoffed and said, "You hold it in."
Ivy frowned, biting her lip. She had to make them stop for her plan to work.
"Please... I'm so pressed. I took some alcohol. I might end up peeing in your car," Ivy remarked, using her most mastered pitiful voice. "Besides, just because you arrested me doesn't mean I'm not human. I have rights too... I need to pee." The police officers glanced at each other before sighing. They stopped at a nearby filling station and parked the car. One of them said, "I'll escort you. Be quick."
Ivy smiled and nodded, "Thank you. You're so kind."
She went to the restroom and the police officer stood outside to wait for her. While in the restroom, Ivy quickly entered the cubicle and climbed on top of the toilet before reaching for the small window.
Ivy was slim in nature so it was easy for her to pass through the window. The moment she was out, she ran for her life and asked someone for a phone.
"Daddy, you need to come and pick me up. Now! I'll send you the address," She said on the phone and continued to run a few minutes later until she found a place to hide.
It didn't take long for David, Ivy's father, to arrive at Ivy's location. When she got into the car, he asked worriedly, "What happened? Did you escape from the police?"
"You didn't do anything to help me when the policemen were taking me away. I needed to save myself somehow. You need to help me escape.... If I'm arrested, you would go down too. You know what you did in the past..." Ivy said. David gritted his teeth. He replied, "I already talked to our family lawyer. We would have bailed you out soon. But now that you've escaped, I'm afraid bail won't be possible if they catch you."
"You need to help me, Daddy. Please... don't let them take me away," Ivy pleaded, giving her father doe eyes.
David sighed and replied, "Of course... I'll help you escape. I won't let them take you."
At the same time, the police officers had called for backup when they realised that Ivy had escaped.
The chief inspector was pissed as he barked out orders, "How can you be so careless? Look for her everywhere! Make sure you find her!"
However, they looked for Ivy for close to an hour but they couldn't find her anywhere. The chief inspector had no choice but to call Ryan to give him the news.
"What? Officer, are you kidding me? How did she escape?" Ryan growled on the phone.
"I think she may have had some help," the chief inspector replied.
On the other side of the phone, Ryan ran a hand through his hair. He glanced at Lora who was seated next to him in the backseat of his car and worry flickered through his eyes. "That means Lora is in danger," Ryan remarked. "Search for Ivy at the Williams' mansion. Perhaps she went there."
When Ryan cut the call, his jaw tightened in anger.
Ivy Williams! How long would she be a threat in their lives? Just when he thought they had gotten rid of her, she managed to escape from the hands of the law. "Ryan-"
"You have to openly move with security from now on," Ryan stated. "Don't drive by yourself... I'll hire a driver for you-"
"I already have a driver... I just like to drive myself."
"You need a driver who's a martial
arts expert. That way, he can protect you in case your security team fail to do so. Ryan said, running a hand through his hair again. "FuckDI didn't expect Ivy to escape!"
Lora furrowed her eyebrows. Having Ivy on the loose was dangerous as no one would know what she would do.
"I'll be more careful... perhaps I should move to the mansion-"
"Come home," Ryan said. He looked at Lora and remarked, "That wayd can protect you better. Bring the kids home... our mansion is just the way you left it... I've never tampered with our home."
He was referring to the mansion they used to live in as husband and wife six years ago. Even though he had moved out and started living in a penthouse, he left the mansion untouched and would go there whenever he missed Larisa.
Lora's heart did a little flip. Ryan's words were sweet but...
"Ryan, I'll stay with Mom and Dad at the Davis' mansion," Lora replied, rejecting Ryan's offer.
Ryan gulped. The rejection hit him like a slap to the face. However, he didn't get angry... it would take some time for him to win back Lora's love.
He smiled and said, "Ok... as long as you're safe there. I'll send over a few bodyguards to protect you and our children. But I would have loved to protect you myself, twenty-four-seven." Lora laughed. She arched an eyebrow and asked, "Really, Mr Kingsley? How can you protect anyone with those injuries? Focus on getting better before thinking of protecting others."
"You're not others... You're the mother of my children, of course, I would lay down my life for you," Ryan said, his eyes glinting with something that made Lora's heart skip a beat. She frowned playfully before saying, "Ok... enough of that. I don't want to hear you saying you would die for me... I don't like it."
"Would you cry for me?" Ryan suddenly asked, leaning over to look into Lora's eyes.
"Huh... what kind of question is that?" Lora remarked.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
"Just answer the question... would you be sad if I died?" Ryan asked again.
"Well... yeah-"
"If I was going to die tomorrow, would you give me a goodbye kiss?"
"Ryan... you're not going to die-"
"Would you? If I asked..." Ryan's voice was low and seductive and Lora could feel the heat of his breath fanning her skin. She gulped, her heart racing in her chest. "Maybe-"
Ryan leaned in and pecked Lora's lips, once and then twice. When he pulled back, he smirked when he saw her face flush a light pink.
"You-"
"Since I almost died, I was just collecting my kiss," Ryan said and sat back in his seat, a smile crossing his lips.
