Chapter 56~ An agreement
Charles Kingsley's eyes rounded in shock. When he saw the convoy of cars in front of the office building, he thought Lora had returned and wanted to go and meet her. However, he ended up bumping into two adorable, squishy kids that made his old heart melt instantly.
'Am I dreaming?' He asked in his mind, his heart pounding hard in his chest.
He had come to see Lora but he didn't expect to see two children who looked like Ryan and Lora. What was going on?
Could these kids be...?
Charles' heart pounded so hard he could hear it in his ears.
He took in a shuddering breath, his hands trembling as he tried to fathom what he could see with his own eyes.
Just as Charles kept looking at the twins, the twins were staring at him curiously too.
Ella whispered in her brother's ears, "Ethan, is this man our grandpa? He looks like Daddy and you."Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Ethan's eyebrows were furrowed in deep thought as he studied Charles' face. Since they shared the same face, could he really be their Grandpa? Did it mean they had two grandpas?
Charles came back to his senses and grinned. He leaned over a little and asked, "Hello, little ones."
"Hello," Ethan and Ella responded, their eyes wide with curiosity.
When Charles heard their voices, he felt a sense of happiness wash over him. These children felt so familiar and he had an inkling of who they belonged to. Not only did the boy look like a younger version of Ryan, but also, the little girl resembled Lora so much. "Who's your mother?" He couldn't help but ask and then his eyes lit up. "Is it Lora Davis?"
Ethan looked into Charles' eyes as if he was searching for something. When he realised the old man had no malice and only held excitement and warmth in his eyes, he admitted, "Yes, Lora Davis is our mother. And who are you, old man?" Charles' eyebrows hiked up and almost disappeared into his hairline. He couldn't believe his ears. Lora Davis had kids who looked like herself and Ryan... it could only mean one thing.
Lora is Larisa. Larisa had been alive all along! She never died and gave birth to his great-grandchildren!
Ryan was already a father and that fool was none the wiser.
"Larisa... oh my God! It's a miracle! She's alive!" Charles exclaimed as he crouched down and held the twins' hands. "I'm a great-grandpa! Haha!"
Ella blinked her eyes in confusion. She tilted her head and asked, "Who's Larisa?"
Charles came back to his senses when he realised the kids didn't know about Lora's past. He dismissed the question by holding the twins' hands tighter, but gently. He remarked, "I'm Charles Kingsley. Your father's Grandpa!" "Daddy has a Grandpa?" Ella asked happily. She pulled her hand away from Charles' hand and hugged him. "Nice to meet you Great Grandpa!"
Charles couldn't help it. When Ella
hugged him, his heart felt full. When last did he feel like this? It was when his grandchildren were born... he was so overwhelmed with joy at that time he thought he would have a heart attack.
This was exactly how he was feeling at the moment. Ryan and Larisa had given him grandkids! What a double blessing!
He glanced at Ethan who was calm and smiled. "I can't believe I have grandkids. Let me call your father now. He needs to know that he's a father!"
Charles took out his phone and was about to dial Ryan's number before Ethan grabbed his hand to stop him. The young boy shook his head and exclaimed, "No, you can't tell him!"
Charles furrowed his eyebrows in
confusion. He looked at the twins as
well as the assistant who was patiently waiting for them to finish their conversation before asking "Why don't you want me to tell him? Your father will be happy to
you exist! This is good now
and I
can't hide it from him."
"He doesn't deserve to know," Ethan remarked, his eyes cold.
Their stupid father had set his engagement to the evil woman to happen in two weeks. Why should they recognise him as their father? It seemed he loved that evil woman more than he loved his own family. Charles' heart sank when he saw the coldness on Ethan's face. The boy was only five but he oozed a powerful aura that made him seem mature.
"Are you angry at your father?" Charles asked, his heart breaking for the children.
'They must have heard about Ryan and Ivy,' Charles mused.
"Huh!" Ethan scoffed. "He doesn't
deserve my anger. I don't want him to know
nowout us yet... at least not
now. Mommy is still very angry at him and he hasn't asked for forgiveness yet... and also, Mommy hasn't agreed for us to recognise him as our father."
Charles' eyes widened slightly. Ethan had the intelligence of an adult. He glanced at Ella who said, "I don't mind meeting Daddy. But I'll wait like Ethan says." Ethan rolled his eyes. This little sister of his was easy to get.
Silence fell over them.
Charles sighed and remarked, "I understand."
He didn't really understand but he could somehow put himself in Lora's shoes. For her to fake her death and hide the kids, meant what Ryan did to her was unforgivable.
It wasn't also the right time to discuss this issue since Ryan was still entangled with Ivy Williams, the venomous woman.
"I won't tell your father for now," Charles said, smiling at the twins. "But I deserve to talk to my favorite grandkids!"
Ethan smiled, liking Charles already. He replied, "No problem. Let's exchange numbers and keep in touch." Charles nodded and remarked, "It will be our little secret."
The three of them glanced at each other before giggling at their agreement.
