Her Precious Baby

Chapter 43

Chapter 43

It was already ten o’clock at night by the time they finished their meal. Seeing it was already late, Angeline got ready to leave.

Evander instructed the butler to send Angeline home. Before she entered the car, Floretta hugged her thighs, unwilling to let her go. It took her a long time to coax the girl.

After watching the car leave, Floretta held back her tears and trotted to her room, ignoring Evander.

Evander looked at her retreating back while massaging his temples. He then quickly followed after her and pushed her room door open.

Floretta could be seen huddled up at the corner of the couch while hugging a rabbit plushy. Though her face was covered with her long hair, it was easy to tell that she was crying.

Evander approached her and took the plushy away, wanting to wipe her face with a piece of tissue.

However, Floretta harrumphed and avoided his hand.

“That’s enough. What did Angeline feed you that made her so unforgettable?” Evander questioned fiercely with a stern expression.

Floretta pouted and sobbed louder. “Angel is great. She’s way better than that Ms. Sherrock. Bad Daddy. You never let Angel and I see each other.”

Evander was at a loss for words.

He could not handle Floretta’s rant, for it made his head hurt.

He pinched her nose with the tissue, removing a large snot, then said helplessly, “All right, stop crying. I promise you can visit Angeline at work.”

Floretta stopped crying, and her eyes sparkled with surprise. “Really?”

“But you have to promise me that you won’t sneak out again. Francesca must be with you all the time, and each visit can only last for an hour.”

“Yay! You’re the best, Daddy!” Floretta threw herself into Evander’s arms and planted a wet kiss on his face.

Evander returned the hug, his frosty expression replaced by a gentle one.

Ever since Angeline appeared, Floretta had gotten closer to him. He was beginning to think that it was not a bad idea to let them interact. However, that did not mean he had put down his guard toward Angeline.

The next day, the shooting for Let’s Go, My Friend officially began. The filming location was in a large building, and the area nearby was packed with fans. In fact, most of them had come for Angeline.

Right then, a minivan pulled up in front of the entrance.

Angeline was dressed quite fashionably in a bucket hat, a cropped tank top, denim shorts, and a blazer.

As soon as she got out of the vehicle, her fans waved banners and yelled crazily, “Angeline! Angeline! We love you!”

Hearing that, Angeline turned around and waved at them with a smile.

The fans’ excitement reached its peak. Even their voices became hoarse as they screamed, “Ah! She’s so lovely! All the best, Angeline!”

In the entertainment industry, all rumors could be suppressed as long as the celebrities were famous enough. Now that the public service announcement had made her so popular, she would be trending on Twitter in no time.

Angeline entered the building under the bodyguards’ escort.

The building had already been cleared out. The only people remaining were the staff, who were busy decorating the precinct.

After greeting the director, Lester Anderson, Angeline made her way to the dressing room. Nancy had been following behind her. In a low voice, Nancy said, “I just heard last night that Hanson will always come to the set to supervise the work. I can help you think of something if you don’t want to meet him.”

“It’s okay. Let’s just film this as usual.” Angeline smiled, looking as if she was familiar with such situations.

The variety show had a total of twelve episodes, each having a different theme as an attraction. The first episode was Back to Schooldays.

The makeup artist had prepared a few sets of uniforms for the celebrities. Angeline’s expression grew cold when she saw Silverleaf High’s logo sewed on the chest area of the uniform.

What a coincidence. Hanson, Joseline, and I graduated from that school.

Angeline changed into the uniform and examined herself in the mirror. A pained look flashed past her eyes.

Taking a deep breath, she recollected her thoughts. She took out an old hair clip from her bag and clipped it onto her hair.

Once the preparations were complete, the shoot officially began.

Hanson sat beside Lester, his eyes fixed on the screen as he discussed some work-related matters with him.

Joseline, who was behind him, could not conceal her bulging belly no matter how large her clothes were. With an arm wrapped around Hanson’s, she said coyly, “Hanson, let’s go. The smell here makes me want to puke.”

Hanson cast her a glance and instantly retracted his arm. “I’m working. You can go home first if you can’t stand it.”

“Tsk, I just want to spend more time with you,” Joseline grumbled.

Hanson frowned impatiently. However, a conflicted look fleeted across his eyes when he glanced at her belly.

The fact that Joseline could get pregnant was an accident.

However, his mother somehow found out about it and threatened Hanson to bring the baby into the world. Thus, he had no choice but to put up with it during Joseline’s pregnancy, regardless of how displeased he was.

The permanent cast members of the show stood in the middle of the building while teasing each other and making introductions.

Just then, the host—with a microphone in his hand—walked toward the center of the stage while introducing, “This episode is quite an exciting one. We’ve managed to invite some young actors and actresses from the latest hit dramas to bring us back to our school days. First, let us welcome the male lead of Palace Drama, Stanley Carr!”

A loud round of applause echoed in the air as the actor, Stanley, got onto the stage. Next, a few young actors were quickly introduced as well. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Finally, it was Angeline’s turn. She walked toward the stage in an unhurried manner.

The moment she took her third step, someone called out, “Angeline?”

Hanson’s voice was filled with shock and disbelief.

No matter how mentally prepared Angeline was, she still felt a pang in her heart at the familiar voice. She calmed herself down and slowly turned around.

Standing in the distance were her ex-fiancé and her sister. Wow, they look so sweet holding hands.

Joseline’s pupils constricted, and her face paled. “Why are you here?”

“I was invited to this show. Is that weird?” Angeline said coldly.

Hearing that, Hanson threw Lester a reproachful glance, causing the latter to hang his head guiltily. It was evident that Lester knew about the grudge between Angeline and the couple, but he had selfishly invited Angeline to the show for the sake of ratings.

Hanson’s eyes gleamed, but he still chose to be rational by saying grimly, “It’s okay. Carry on.”

Angeline sneered inwardly. The moment she stepped onto the stage, she dismissed her emotions and introduced herself to everyone enthusiastically.

She also admitted, “This is quite some coincidence. I went to Silverleaf High during my high school days, too.”

“I heard most students have crushes when they’re in high school. Do you have an unforgettable relationship back when you were in high school, Ms. Sorelle?”

Hearing the host’s words, Angeline cast a glance at Hanson. She combed her hair with her fingers and pretended to touch her hair clip.

Hanson’s eyes were ablaze as he stared at her. He clenched his fists and suppressed the stirring emotions in his heart.

Time had flown by so fast that he could still picture the teenage Angeline from high school in the current version before him. The thought of it left a pang in his heart.

Right then, Angeline answered, “No. I poured all my attention into my studies during my high school days. I didn’t have anyone I liked.”

Her words were like a pail of ice-cold water that was dumped on Hanson, who looked livid.
