Her Precious Baby

Chapter 264

Chapter 264

His action of paying the termination fee on her behalf implied he might still have feelings for her.

Can it be that he's in some sort of predicament that he can't talk about? Unfortunately, from the way Angeline is behaving, there's just no getting through to her right now.

“Anyway, let's talk about something happier. Have you seen the news today? Jacob stood up for you and almost got into a fight with the paparazzi.”

Nancy couldn't help but burst into hearty laughter the moment she finished.

As for Angeline, it was clear that she was clueless about it. Whipping out her phone, she checked the trending topics on Twitter right away.

Just as expected, the very first one read: Jacob Zane gets into an altercation with the paparazzi.

Angeline proceeded to watch the short video clip.

Jacob was dressed stylishly while attending a fashion show. It started out with him posing for the media.

Thereafter', one of the reporters asked him, “Mi; Zane, what do you think about Angeline being exposed for her indiscretions and the fact tliat she has had a child before?”

Jacob's expression drastically changed as he questioned tire paparazzo, “What do I think? Are you acting so confident because you experienced it?”

The paparazzo answered defiantly, “But Angeline admitted to it herself.”

“So what? How does that make it your business?” Jacob raised his voice in a hostile maimer.

“Aren't you friends with Angeline? I'm sure you know what's going on.”

“Wiry should I tell you even if I do? Do you want me to satisfy that disgusting imagination of yours or help you complete the baseless article you're going to write?”

Jacob spoke candidly with rage burning in his eyes.

Chaos subsequently erupted at the scene, with all the reporters becoming infuriated at his words.

The reporter who had been insulted bellowed furiously, “Jacob, who do you think you are? Don't forget who it was tliat made you famous. You had better not push your luck!”

“F*ck you!” Jacob cursed as he threw a kick at the reporter.

“Do you still think we live in the past where you can judge a woman just for having a child? If not for unscrupulous reporters like you, Angie wouldn't have needed to leave the entertainment industry!”

It was then tliat an altercation broke out. Just when the situation was about to go out of control, a few bodyguards suddenly emerged and led Jacob away.

Feeling touched and concerned after watching the video, Angeline asked Nancy, “How is Jacob now? Is he all right?”

“Don't worry. He'll be fine. With his current popularity, the worst the company will do is reprimand him.”

Nancy patted Angeline on the shoulder to reassure her and added, “Your time would be better spent worrying about yourself instead.”

With tliat, Angeline's concerns were eased. Little did she expect Jacob to be such a loyal friend.

As she tinned around, a gentle look entered her eyes when she saw Sebastian playing with his racing car on the hospital bed.

“What else can I do? The only choice I have is to try and live a good life with Sebastian. Don't worry. I'll be fine,” Angeline promised with a smile as the sunlight tliat pierced through the window lent a gentle air to her.

Given how unpredictable the future was, Angeline couldn't be certain of what it held for her. The only thing within her control was to live her life to the fullest in the present.

The next day, Angeline decided to officially start work at Forrester Group. Making the transition from acting to fashion design was undoubtedly a bold decision for her.

Even though she was greatly influenced by her mother when she was young, it was undeniable that she would be seen as someone inexperienced. Therefore, it wasn't going to be easy for her to earn her employees' respect.

As a result, she instructed Lillian to send over the latest company reports before the meeting and to join her in it.

On tliat day, Angeline was dressed in a white suit and a pair of matching black slacks. With her hair burned up behind her head, she exuded the aura of a professional woman. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

The moment she stepped into the office, she was greeted by the sight of the employees doing their own tilings in a languid maimer.

In fact, they paid no heed to her arrival and were not even bothered to greet her.

The scene caused Angeline's face to darken as she strutted over.

It seems that a company tliat lacks a leader will result in a lack of passion fi'oni the employees.

With tliat, she walked up to the frontmost desk and stared at the female staff who was in the midst of freshening up her makeup.

Knocking on the desk, Angeline reminded her, “Don't you have anything better to do during office hours?”

The lady was new and had never seen Angeline before.

“What's with tliat attitude? Who do you think you are?” she retorted with a contemptuous look on her face.

In response, Angeline almost sniggered out loud. With employees like these, it's no surprise that Forrester Group is facing ruin.

“As a professional, shouldn't you maintain some basic decorum in front of your client?”

Unfortunately, the lady sneered, “We have plenty of clients coming and going every day. Even my boss doesn't give a d*mn, so who are you to interfere?”

What a b*tch! Do all those bom in the nineties behave this way?

In no mood to waste time arguing, Angeline picked up the intercom on the lady's table and instructed, “Everyone, gather in the conference room in ten minutes for a meeting.”

The moment Angeline finished, the stunned lady mumbled, “Who are you?”

With no intention to interact any further with her, Angeline tinned around and strutted off in her stilettos.

Ten minutes later, a crowd gradually filled the conference room. Angeline had taken a seat in an inconspicuous corner to observe how lackadaisical the staff were.

“What's going on? What's with the sudden meeting? Is someone from management here?”

“I have no idea. No one heard anything about it.”

“Hopefully, it isn't a prank, but who knows? Let's just wait patiently.”

The conference room was extremely chaotic due to the ongoing chatter. Although the meeting was supposed to have started five minutes ago, the noise refused to die down.

Consequently, a man with a bald patch, Carl Lipton, who was also the company's finance director, stood up from his seat angrily.

“Who in the world called for this meeting? Come out here right now. Do you think you're still a child to be playing such a prank?”

The conference room fell silent the instant his temper flared.

“It was me.”

Angeline's crisp voice echoed through the conference room.

Subsequently, she got up from her chair and sauntered toward the front.

After putting the documents in her hand aside, she placed her hands on the table and stared into Carl's eyes fearlessly.

“Do you have a problem with it?”
