Chapter 227
Chapter 227
Joseline’s appearance remained meek and unassuming, but all sorts of emotions swept over her. Her hands, too, started trembling uncontrollably. I’ve worked hard for years, and Sorelle Group is finally mine!
She knew Wilfred would not easily replace her with Angeline. I’ve been taking care of him for years. There’s no way she could win his heart within a short period!
Joseline lifted her head and looked at Angeline condescendingly. So what if you refuse to admit defeat? The victory is mine, and you’re just a pathetic loser.
Angeline did not seem to notice the expression on Joseline’s face. She held the two children’s hands and left the wake with a deadpan expression while lowering her head.
Yet, her eyes were filled with disappointment.
She did not expect Wilfred would still give Sorelle Group to Joseline despite knowing all the evil things she did. What does this mean? Does he value his relationship with Joseline more than the relationship he has with his son and daughter-in-law?
With that thought in mind, Angeline began feeling tightness in her chest. She felt sorry for the Sorelle family, but there was nothing else she could do.
After all, the legal procedures were in place, and the decision was indisputable under the rule of law.
Looking at the situation, Angeline could only suppress her resentment.
“Daddy!” Suddenly, Floretta pulled her hand away from Angeline. She extended her arms and ran toward a black car.
Angeline lifted her head and saw Evander standing by a black car. Clad in a tailor-made exquisite black suit, the man instantly became the center of her attention.
The disappointment in her eyes toned down when she saw him from a distance. She held Sebastian’s hand and walked toward Evander.
Evander squatted down and embraced Floretta before turning his attention to Angeline.
He said in a deep but gentle voice, “I remained here since I told Sylas to bring the gifts over.”
Angeline nodded in response. She no longer bothered to hide her fatigue. “It’s great that you stayed away from the meaningless drama.”
After gazing into her eyes, Evander leaned forward, cupped the back of Angeline’s head, and gave her forehead a gentle peck. “I’m here for you, don’t worry.”
“Just so you know, every subsidiary under Golding Group has much greater potential than Sorelle Group,” he consoled her in a mesmerizing, magnetic voice.
Those words warmed Angeline’s heart. Tears started welling up in her eyes as his assurance had given her the courage and sense of security she needed.
With Evander around, the grievance that filled her heart when she was at the wake had vanished into thin air.
Somehow, they did not realize Hanson had walked out of the wake and saw Evander planting a kiss on Angeline’s forehead.
Hanson knitted his brows and was struck dumb by the scene, unable to believe his eyes.
He had run out to check on Angeline because he was worried about her, unfazed by how the others might think of him. He knew she must have felt aggrieved after the announcement.
Never in a million years did Hanson think he would witness Evander and Angeline being so intimate with each other. So all this while, they have been laying low, huh?
He could not picture them together as the media had never once reported on their relationship.
While Hanson was still deep in thought, Sylas opened the door and ushered them into the car.
Hanson’s jaw dropped when Evander, notoriously known for being a ruthless and decisive CEO, bent down to carry the two children into the car before holding Angeline’s hand and assisting her to get into the vehicle.
When the door was about to close, Hanson caught a glimpse of the gentle look on Evander’s face. He had never seen him with that expression before. At the same time, Hanson also noticed Angeline’s eyes were filled with love when she tilted her head to look at Evander.
The grim-faced Hanson felt sick at heart, and his mood plummeted to rock bottom. I lost. I didn’t even get a chance to woo her.
He clenched his fist and punched at a pillar.
Despite feeling a sharp pain on his knuckles, he did not frown for a second as he had turned into the green-eyed monster. How can I allow someone else to take Angeline away? She’s mine! Not even Evander can steal her from me! Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Meanwhile, Evander brought them to a high-end restaurant.
As the restaurant was built along the coastline, diners could enjoy the sea view on the top floor. They could also feel the fresh breeze that blew into the premises through the half-open windows.
The serene atmosphere calmed Angeline down. She gripped her glass and stared blankly into the water in the vessel.
Even Sebastian and Floretta could tell she was not in a good mood. The two children exchanged glances and got down from the chairs.
“Daddy, can we play on the slides?” Floretta asked in an adorable voice. She lifted her hand and pointed at the slides not far away.
“Sure.” Evander nodded. He reminded her, “Don’t wander too far off.”
“Got it,” Floretta responded with a grin and beckoned him over with her finger, gesturing for him to bend down. She whispered in his ear, “Daddy, do your best to console Angel, okay? You must learn to coax your wife!”
The little girl then held Sebastian’s hand and skipped away.
Evander responded with a sigh. My five-year-old daughter is teaching me how to handle a woman. Unbelievable.
He glanced at Angeline and asked, “Still upset?”
Angeline came to her senses upon hearing that. She responded with a wry smile and said, “Well, there’s nothing I can do now. I can’t undo the things that have been done.”
“I’m glad you think so,” Evander responded calmly.
He picked up a jug and filled Angeline’s cup with warm water. “If I’m not mistaken, Sorelle Group is not doing as well as we thought. Many companies have terminated their contracts with them in the last six months. I’ve even heard Sorelle Group was struggling to manage its debts.”
Angeline’s eyes darkened. She pulled herself together and asked, “How is that possible? Sorelle Group has been in the business industry for ages. The Sorelle family was also named one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs, right?”
“That was a long time ago.” Evander looked into her eyes and explained, “Under your father’s leadership, Sorelle Group had no doubt reached its peak, but with his departure, the company was left unattended. The fact that Old Mr. Sorelle fell ill has also further aggravated the company’s situation!”
Angeline’s heart sank when she heard those words. She could not help but clench her fists while holding a spoon.
