Chapter 11
Chapter 11
The servant took Emma upstairs and knocked at the door.
“Lady Emma is here to see you, sir.”
There was no response from the study.
Emma was frustrated. It seemed that she really was too self-righteous.
They hadn't talked to each other for four years. How could Jamie still value her as much as he used to.
She turned her eyes downward and was about to leave imitatively.
The door of the study was suddenly opened.
Her body was then forced into a warm embrace, then Jamie's soft voice was heard.
"Emma, long time no see." He said with a smile.
Emma's heart warmed and her eyes welled up with tears. She hugged Jamie back and said, "long time
no see, Jamie."
It had been four years since they saw each other last time. Jamie had hardly changed. He was still
gentle and elegant, but a bit more charming and mature than before.
Jamie released Emma and looked down at her with his warm eyes, "I thought you would never talk to
me again for the rest of the life..."
Emma suddenly felt guilty and said in a light voice, "I came to you because I need your help. But you
can just refuse me if it's a trouble for you. I know it’s really offensive after all."
After four years of absence, she borrowed 30 thousand dollars from him as soon as they met. No
matter who he was, he was supposed to be unhappy.
"It doesn't matter. I'll help you anyway." Jamie agreed without hesitation. "No matter what you need me
to do, I will do it."
Emma was shocked. She didn't expect that Jamie would treat her so well...
She was moved and more guilty.
She felt herself like a mean clown. Because she would thought of Jamie only when she met difficulty
and needed help.
“Emma…” Jamie raised his hand and gently stroked Emma's cheek, "my love for you has never
changed in these years. It's my pleasure to help you when you are in need, because it means that at
least you haven't forgotten me."
Emma’s eyes became moist again, “Jamie, I'm not worth it.” She cried.
She had married once and had two abortions. She didn't deserve Jamie at all.
Jamie held her in his arms and said lovingly, "Don’t say that. In my heart, you’re the best..."
Emma shook her head and couldn't say a word.
"Please don't cry and tell me what you need me to do." Jamie took her by hand to the study.
"I need money, 30 thousand dollars..." Emma said with embarrassment.
Jamie directly opened the drawer and took out the checkbook directly, "I'll write you a check now..."
Emma was surprised, "Don't you ask me what I'm going to do with the money, and when I will return it
back?"
Jamie smiled tenderly, "I trust you, Emma." And then he handed over the check.
Emma quickly stood up to accept it.
However, as soon as she stood up straight, she suddenly felt dizzy and then fainted without warning.
It was already the next morning when she woke up.
Jamie kept staying at Emma's bedside. Seeing her opened her eyes, he quickly helped her up. "Emma,
how do you feel? Is there any uncomfortable?"
Emma shook her head. She was all right except for the stomachache.
"What's wrong with me?" Why did she suddenly faint?
"You are seriously anaemic. Plus, you are too tired, and have a hypoglycemia..."
“I see...” Emma glanced out of the window and suddenly thought of her mother's operation.
"Oh no, I have to go to the hospital now..."
She got out of bed immediately, and took out her cell phone from her bag to call her mother back. She
wanted to tell Belle she had got the money, the operation could go on as planed...
She unlocked the screen. There were several missed phone calls.
The caller was her her stepfather.
Why did he call her so many times? Emma was confused.
“What’s the matter?” She called him back and asked.
On the other side of the phone, her stepfather said in a hoarse voice, "Emma, your mother didn't want
to get you into trouble. She...she jumped out of the building to suicide this morning..."
Emma's brain was suddenly blank. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Why...why did she suddenly suicide..." She couldn't believe it.
Her stepfather shook his head and said, "I don't know. Celia came to see her this morning, and then
she jumped off the building..."
