Amelia POV

It was Monday morning and as usual, I went to work. When I got to the office, I met Diana typing on her computer and her face looks natural. I was surprised to see the changes in her. When she heard me entering, She looked up and smiled at me.

” Is this the real Diana? ” I thought as I couldn’t stop staring at her.

“Good morning ” she greeted, I looked around to see if she was greeting me or not. “It’s you, Amelia. Good morning how was your weekend? ” she asked smiling.

“Fine, I guess”I replied. she looked at me and then noticed my hand. “Amelia what happened to your hand?” she sounded concerned and I blinked twice to see if she was asking.

“It’s a mistake I made but it’s fine now. thanks for asking “I replied to her and turned to walked to the elevator when she called me back.

“Amelia, have lunch with me today my treat” she requested.

“Okay “I accepted and she squealed. “Thanks for inviting me and Diana you look beautiful” I commented and walked into the elevator.

Few minutes after I got to my office, I saw Dylan arriving. The phone rang a few seconds later and I picked it up.

“In my office now! ” he commanded but I didn’t fault in it because I missed how his voice sounded so deep. I left my desk and headed to his office. When I got to the front of his office, I took a deep breath before I knocked and entered his office. “Good morning sir” I greeted him.

“Have you fixed the meeting with the Chinese investors? ” he asked while ignoring my greetings. I shook my head in response. “Answer with words Amelia”

“I’m sorry sir, it skipped my mind “.

“It skipped your mind like it did when you forgot to tell me that you were leaving “he shouted and I jumped at the sound of his voice. “Answer me Amelia and what the fuck happened to your hand? ” he asked and grabbed injured my hand gently.

“I made a mistake,” I said quietly.

“A mistake, how could you burn your hand Amelia when you are not a child” he scolded

“I’m sorry sir,” I said and loosen his grip on my hand.

“Make sure you treat your hand and don’t make mistakes like that in the future” he warned. ” set the meeting with the investors and then we will talk about why you left without telling me”

“I told your mother” I shouted, I didn’t know why but I was getting angry. “Don’t act as you cared about me leaving or not. you were with Anna ” I accused.

“Don’t use that tone on me Amelia ” he said. “At least you could have waited for me to come before you leave. I wanted to thank you for coming ” he said.

“She is better,” he replied.

“Look am sorry for not telling you I was leaving but something happened so I had to leave, “I told him and he only nods.

“Go set the meeting Amelia “he ordered. I bow my head in response and left the office.

I set the meeting with the Chinese investors and informed Dylan. He ordered me to arrange some files in his office and I complied. He let me leave when it was time for lunch. Just as Diana promised, we both met for lunch.

” I must say I’m surprised to be sitting here with you Diana,” I told her as we eat our lunch. I ordered spaghetti with fish sauce while she ordered potatoes chips.

“I guess I’m not bad after all “she chuckled. “I’m just insecure, I feel people won’t like the real me so I decided to act like a bitch. I’m sorry “she apologized.

“No problem Diana, so this is the real you? ” I asked and she nodded. “That’s good, Diana you don’t have to change yourself for people to like you. I like the real you better and I’m sure others do” I told her and she smiled.

“Thank you Amelia ” she responded positively and we continued to eat. A few minutes later, I was almost through with my lunch when I heard someone called my name. someone and walked to our table.

“Amelia! ” the person called and walked to our table. It was Tyler, my date from the annual party.

“Hey, Tyler” I called and stood up to hug him. “Wow it’s so good to see you again”

“Says the girl who forgot me,” he said and raised a brow at me.

“I’m sorry Tyler, I’ve been busy and I forgot you I’m sorry ” I apologized.

“You are forgiven” he smiled and took a seat opposite Diana, they both stole glances at each other before looking away but I could see that they liked each other.

I cleared my throat to break the sexual tension between the two of them. “Diana this is Tyler and Tyler this is Diana, my friend. ”

“Hi,” Diana said shyly and I burst out laughing. Diana raised her brows and glared at me but I continued to laugh. “Sorry ” I apologized

“So Diana, can we hang out sometimes? ” Tyler asked her.

I pretended I was eating but I was secretly listening to their conversation.

“Yeah sure,” Diana replied sweetly And I saw her blushing. they both exchange numbers and began to talk about themselves. a few minutes later Tyler stood up to leave.

“I have to leave now, see you later Amy and Diana I’ll call you later,” he said and walked away, Diana stared at him as he leaves and I winked at her.

“Awwwwwwn my girl Is whipped” I teased.

“Oh shut up Amelia, “she said laughing. Throughout the lunch break, I teased her and get to know more about her. the lunch break ended and we walked out of the cafeteria. just then my phone beeped and a message popped in. I read the message and it was not what I was expecting.

I read the message again and looked around. Diana sensed my uneasiness and also looked around.

“You okay? “She asked and I nodded. I couldn’t tell her that I was threatened by an unknown number.

“Yes, thanks for the lunch”I quickly replied to her to avoid another question. Who could have sent the threat message? My mind quickly went to Rebecca but she couldn’t send such a message, Rebecca doesn’t send messages, she threatens in person. Diana and I both part ways as I entered the elevator and pondered on the message I received. While in my thought, the elevator suddenly stopped. The lights in the elevator went off and I couldn’t see a thing. I turned on my flashlight and wondered what happened.

“is someone there? I’m stuck here” I screamed thinking someone was out there to help me but all my screaming was in vain. I dialed Dylan’s number to call him but my phone was out of service.

Who could be doing this to me? “help! help! Help!!!!!! ” I shouted loud but I knew nobody could hear me. “Was this how I was gonna die? Without finding love again? Without helping my mum get back her hearings? Without telling Dylan I love him?” I cried as I thought about what could happen if I die inside the elevator. I began to record on my phone in case I die and someone found me dead.

“Mum, I’m sorry for leaving so soon. I’m sorry for not helping you with your hearings. I love you very much mother even though you can’t hear this. “I cried to the phone then I continued ” Dylan I have always love you, I know you don’t but I do and my only regret was walking away that day without fighting for our love. I love you, Dylan, when you get this I’ll be dead ” I cried and stop recording. I sat on the floor and soon I started to panic. I was hyperventilating and in few minutes I’ll lose my consciousness. I cried as I struggle to breathe. I closed my eyes to welcome the darkness that was settling in but before I could the elevator started working, the light came back on and the doors opened, a worried Dylan rushed in and grabbed me.

“Amelia, Amelia “he called my name and carried me. “Open your eyes Amelia ” he shouted but I was losing consciousness then I blacked out but before I did I called his name.

“Dylan ” I struggled to say and blacked out.

Writer’s POV

In an unknown place, a woman and a man were arguing, the room was dark so it’s was difficult to identify them.

“I want them apart but you have only bought them together” a voice belonging to a woman screamed at a man who was dressed in all black and his identity was unknown. The man bought out a cigarette, light it up, and began to smoke.

“You can’t change a fate,” the man said and continue smoking.

“Well I’m paying you, I want that girl gone. The elevator scenario today wasn’t enough, I want her dead!! ” the woman shouted at the man.

“Wait and see, I love when my victim cowers in fear before I kill them” he dropped the cigarette to the floor and stepped on it. ” I don’t like messing with fate but I’ll do anything for money” the man grinned.

“Do whatever you have to do and I’ll pay you double” the unidentified woman said.

“Sure” the man replied silently.
