Part 49
Adaline sat in the corner of the long sofa, watching TV as Altezza approached her. Instead of sitting down, he chose to lie down, placing his head on Adaline’s lap.
“Feeling unwell,” he said, reaching for Adaline’s right hand and placing it on his forehead. Indirectly asking her to massage his head as she did earlier in the afternoon.
Adaline complied, and her hands massaged both sides of Altezza’s temples gently.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
Both of them fell silent. The only sound came from the TV Adaline had turned on. Meanwhile, Adaline thought her husband had fallen back asleep due to his illness. She was about to replace her thigh cushion with the sofa cushion, but he held her arm first.
“Madam…” Altezza spoke hesitantly. “There’s something I need to discuss.”
Slowly, he rose from his reclined position and sat with his left knee bent on the sofa while his right leg dangled to the floor. Altezza turned his body fully towards Adaline, inevitably causing her to turn her body towards him.
“This is about the baby,” he continued when Adaline didn’t respond.
Adaline frowned. “Yes?” Adaline whispered softly.
“I… actually…” Altezza paused, weighing the words worthy of utterance.
“Do you… want to follow Dr. Stefanie’s recommendation?” Adaline cut straight to the point.
Altezza was quite surprised by the girl’s question; indeed, that was what he intended to say. Because after thinking for two weeks, he couldn’t find any other answer except for the logical advice from his high school friend. Although he felt somewhat guilty for using the girl’s body, honestly, he also needed release. And Adaline was his wife. Legally and religiously. So Altezza wasn’t committing a sin, right?
“You… don’t mind?” Altezza asked, still unable to believe his ears.
Adaline smiled, her face blushing. “Actually, it’s not a matter of minding or not,” she answered softly. “I know it’s my duty and also your right…” Her face instantly turned red. “I mean, ever since I signed that contract, I’ve fully entrusted all decisions to you.”
“Whatever decision you make, I’ll follow,” she continued, still blushing.
“But don’t you mind? I mean, as I said before, usually women prefer to entrust their honor to the men they love. So what about you? Are you willing to give up your honor for me?”
Silence permeated between them. Altezza heard Adaline occasionally taking deep breaths, clearly indicating that the girl was trying to calm herself.
“I don’t mind that. After all, I’m your wife now. Mom said I’m entirely yours. Except if you do it in a way that tortures me, then I won’t allow it,” she replied in a soft voice, her head bowed.
The red hue was not only spreading across the girl’s face but also throughout her entire body.
Altezza teased her, lowering his head beneath Adaline’s face, looking at her, and instantly her eyes widened in surprise. She then turned her face to the left, and Altezza followed suit. This continued until Adaline chose to cover her face with the sofa cushion.
Altezza couldn’t help but laugh. The sudden boldness of the girl certainly took him by surprise. But he also realized that her shy side still outweighed the courage she tried to show.
Altezza reached for both of the girl’s hands and lowered the cushion covering her face.
“I don’t want to apologize, and I won’t apologize. I also can’t promise how things will be in the future. But what’s clear is, right now I want to try. For us. For our relationship. What do you say?” Yes, Altezza had decided in his heart. Right now, this moment, he would try. Try to make this marriage work.
Adaline raised her head and looked directly into her husband’s golden eyes. Clearly seeking the meaning behind his words. There was no joking in her gaze. Her stare was sharp, firm, and there was something Adaline couldn’t quite interpret there.
Slowly, Adaline nodded. The man then smiled and approached. “So…” he asked, still with a smile playing on his lips.
Adaline simply nodded, accepting the man’s outstretched hand and rising to her feet. “Let’s do it conventionally,” the man said softly, a tone that made Adaline nervous.
Adaline excused herself to clean up, her heart pounding. Inside the bathroom, she leaned against the wall with weak knees. How could she be so bold? How could she challenge Altezza to this extent? How could her mouth speak of this matter as if it wasn’t a big deal?
She looked at her reflection in the mirror. ‘What now?’ she wondered. Looking at herself, there was nothing enticing about her appearance at all. Would Altezza even want her and touch her?
She was inexperienced in dealing with men. Let alone in the bedroom, she had never even kissed before. Would she be able to satisfy Altezza, who was clearly a widower?
Yes, Altezza was a widower, and he must have had a lot of experience. But what about Adaline? What if she ended up doing something that ruined the mood and made Altezza not want to touch her anymore?
Adaline wanted to cry. Truly, she felt scared right now. She needed Tessa and Joanna to give her a boost with their usually irrational thoughts. With nervousness and fear, Adaline walked to her room and sighed, while Altezza turned his body slowly. It looked like a slow-motion movement on a widescreen. His face was very handsome and radiant.
“Ready?” the man asked with a mischievous smile that made Adaline’s heart race even faster.
Adaline swallowed hard and nodded, once again her heart racing just from the man’s gaze.
“Are you sure you’re ready?” Altezza asked, trying to reassure her because he didn’t want Adaline to feel coerced and regret it later.
Adaline looked at Altezza and nodded slowly.
“After this, there’s no turning back. Because I’m not sure everything will happen only once,” Altezza said again.
Adaline widened her eyes. They hadn’t even tried for the first time yet, and Altezza was already threatening there would be more times.
Seeing Adaline’s surprise, Altezza smiled. He inched closer. His head moved towards Adaline’s head, while his hands cupped Adaline’s face and he kissed the top of her head.
Adaline could only stay silent. Choosing to close her eyes and feel what Altezza was about to do to her.
The man’s lips slowly moved to touch her forehead, giving a gentle and pressing kiss there. Still with his hands on Adaline’s face, Altezza then pressed his lips to Adaline’s left cheek, soft and with a pressure like the previous kiss before moving to her
Altezza then pulled back his head, causing Adaline to reluctantly open her eyes.
Adaline hung her head in embarrassment, thoughts of Altezza not wanting to touch her filling her mind. But she was surprised when, without hesitation, Altezza once again cupped her face and pressed his lips to hers.
The soft brush of Altezza’s lips made Adaline freeze momentarily. Was this what a kiss felt like? She wondered. What should she do? Should she just stay still? Once again, Adaline screamed in panic within herself while clutching the hem of her skirt tightly.
Aware that his wife was silent, Altezza withdrew his face.
“Madam?” Altezza asked hesitantly.
