Chapter 9: My little human
Chapter 9: My little human
Damon POV:
Luca and I had been down in the dungeons for hours now. I wanted more than anything to go back to
the house so that I could be with Amelia. As I held her in my arms, touching, kissing and devouring
every inch of her.
However, against my better judgement, I fought those urges and continued interrogating this piece of
shit rogue that invaded my lands.
I wiped the blood from my hands with a towel and stalked back towards the rogue. I glared down at
him. “So, Jesse, you say you are alone, and you followed three human scent trails here. That your
friend was killed, and a human female’s scent was lingering on his body. Making you think it was wise
to follow that trail here, to my territory?” I questioned, confirming the man’s confession.
He looked up at me, face swollen and bloody from the beatings. “Yes, how many times do I have to tell
you, and I know she is here; I want her! So, I can get my revenge and rip her throat out.” He snarled.
Every muscle in my body tensed up with burning fury, and my lip twitched as my canines extended. I
pulled my arm back and swung it forward, clocking him right in the jaw, doing it over and over again.
Finally, I lifted my leg and booted him in the side, causing the chair to pull out from the floor, flying him
across the room and into the wall.
I stomped over to him and lifted him off the ground, only to slam him right back into the hard, cement
floor. I did this a couple more times before gripping his throat, lifting him into the air and slamming him
into the wall, then pounded his face with my fist a few more times. Blood was everywhere, the walls,
the floor, me and Jesse was a bloody mess, now limp in my grasp. The rage had started to subside as I
realized that he was unconscious and possibly dead. The ringing in my ears eased, and my vision
began to clear.
I released him, and he dropped to the floor like a dead weight. Luca walked over and looked at me, a
worried expression on his face, as my beast frightened everyone and he was close to the surface. I
took a step back, looking at the body on the floor and back to Luca. He turned his gaze away from me
and leaned down to the body, putting two fingers on his neck, checking for a heartbeat.
Luca was still and silent as he felt for a pulse. Finally, he looked up at me and nodded his head, telling
me that the rogue was still alive. I turned around and walked out the door, stopping in the hallway.
“Keep him here, for now; we will deal with him later,” I said shortly, as I picked up the towel from the
ground and wiped some of the blood off of me.
“Yes, I agree. That sounds like a good plan.” He said quickly.
I nodded and then continued down the hall, eager to see Amelia. I walked back to the house and went
straight upstairs, not wanting her to see me like this. I went into my room cautiously, looking around to
see if it was empty, and thankfully it was. Walking into the bathroom, I stripped off my clothes and
jumped into the shower, thoroughly cleaning myself.
After finishing in the shower and getting dressed, choosing to wear a white t-shirt and dark blue jeans, I
went to Amelia’s room, both me and my wolf, craving to see her. I knocked on the door, but there was
no answer. I struck again, and still nothing. Finally, I gripped the door handle, threw it open and stepped
into the room. The room was empty, with no sign of Amelia. I checked the closet and bathroom, both
empty as well, which I found very strange, especially when I knew she wouldn’t go anywhere alone.
I walked out of her room, trying to think of where she would be, and I remembered that she had also
become close with Ruth when she was in the med wing. So I flew down the stairs and headed towards
that part of the house, hoping she would be there.
I stormed into the central ward, glancing around for Ruth and finally spotting her near the back. As I
walked over to her, I looked around for Amelia, but she wasn’t anywhere to be seen. I was mere feet
from Ruth, and she looked at me with a bewildered expression on her face “Alpha, is everything ok?”
She asked, concern lacing her tone.
I glared down at her. “Where is Amelia, Ruth?” I asked in my Alpha tone.
Her eyes darted around. “I don’t know, Alpha; I haven’t seen her.” She tried to sound calm, but her
voice deceived her.
I stepped closer to her. “Don’t lie to me.” I bellowed out.
She flinched at my tone and gulped roughly, the smell of fear emanating from her. “I’m sorry, Alpha, she
is gone to a club in the city with Trevor.” She admitted to me.
My hands balled into fists at my side “What fucking club?” I asked through gritted teeth. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
She squeezed her eyes closed. “It’s called Dance, Dance. The club is on Johnson street.”
Without saying another word, I fled from the room, furious and determined to bring her ass back here. I
mind-linked with Luca and told him to meet me at the garage. Leaving the house, I walked over to the
garage and walked in, only to realize that the jeep was gone, but I knew who had taken it. I couldn’t
believe no one had heard or seen the jeep leaving the grounds. What a bunch of fucking morons!
I grabbed the keys to my car, and Luca walked in. We both climbed in the truck and headed for the city.
I told Luca everything Ruth had said and that we needed to find Amelia and Trevor to bring them back
home. We finally arrived at the club. The sign was so bright, lighting up half of the street, and there was
a massive line up to get into the club. Luckily for us, we knew the owner, who was another werewolf.
We were walking towards the door when I got a faint whiff of Amelia’s scent, but it was coming from
somewhere to my left. I stopped and inhaled deeply, then stilled, as I heard a faint whimper.
I walked in that direction, and as I came closer to a dark alleyway, her scent became more robust, and I
heard a female voice begging someone to stop. I rushed towards the alleyway, and what I saw before
me, some man's fucking hands on my girl, instantly brought out the beast within me, furious and
wanting blood.
The change was instant, my wolf now in complete control. He leapt onto the man and tore him from
her, tossing him at the brick wall. Then stalked over to him, licking his lips and dove on the man, tearing
him to pieces. Seeing this piece of shit violate our mate caused the worst in us to come out, not giving
a shit that we had just killed a human man and in public, a sacred and regularly enforced law for our
kind.
I changed back into my human form, and Luca threw me some clothes and towels. I changed and
cleaned myself. “Where is she?” I asked him.
He pointed towards the club. “Trevor came and took her inside the club.”
I practically jogged into the club, pushing my way past all the dancing fools. I looked to Luca. “Where
did he take her?”
He nodded in the direction of a room guarded by a few of my men, they must have been here, or Luca
told them to come. I stomped over to the door, stopping in front of the men, but they didn’t move and
remained in place. My lip twitched, and I snarled, “Move the fuck out of my way!” I roared.
Without further hesitation, they all scattered, making room for me. I flung the door open and ducked
down, entering the room. My chest heaved, and I glared at Trevor. “Get the fuck out!” I said, using my
Alpha tone. Amelia didn’t want him to leave, but he obeyed my orders and left the room. I slammed the
door closed and went to her side. My eyes scanned her body, and she had on one of Trevor’s shirts,
making me grind teeth at the sight of her wearing another man’s shirt. I tried to take the shirt off her to
get a better look at her, but she clung to the shirt, not letting it go.
I cocked my head slightly and glared down at her. “Let go,” I demanded.
She closed her eyes shut, breathing in deeply, before letting go of the shirt. Then, noticing a few
scraps, I grabbed the first aid kit and took out what I needed.
I slowed my breathing and calmed myself before saying anything to her, but the anger got the better of
me. “What the fuck were you thinking?” I asked her.
She hissed when the alcohol touched her skin, “I just wanted to have some fun.” She said shakily.
I raised a brow. “And look where it got you.” Her expression was none other than shock at my words;
maybe that was a bit too harsh.
She scoffed, “Got me? You think I fucking asked for this, Damon?”
Now I felt like an ass. “No...bu.” She didn’t allow me to answer.
She shook her head, her brown hair bouncing around. “There is no but, Damon. I just wanted to have
some fun and relax for a bit. You have had me held up in that house for almost a month now. The only
time I’ve had outside the house since the day I was taken was when you took me out of the dungeons
and the day I tried to escape. So, I just wanted some time away.” Tears were now staining her cheeks
as she began to sob silently.
I gently ran my thumb across her cheek. “You shouldn’t have left; you were safe at the house; if I hadn’t
shown up when I did, he...” I closed my eyes and gripped the counter, trying to reign back the beast, as
we thought of the memory and what could’ve been. I sucked in a deep breath and stared deep into her
eyes. “I can’t have anything happen to you, Amelia, don’t you understand that?” I asked of her, needing
her to understand how much she meant to me.
Her eyes fell shut as more tears flowed from her beautiful eyes. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have left.” She
said softly.
I pulled her into me, holding her close. “Shh, it’s ok,” I whispered to her, then remained like this, just
holding her for a few minutes, not wanting to let her go. Reluctantly, I finally released her and walked
over to the door. Amelia asked where I was going, but I didn’t answer, as I didn’t intend on going
anywhere. I opened the door and asked the men to grab me a blanket. Luca threw one at me, and I
closed the door. I walked back over to her, draped the blanket around her, then picked her up, cradling
her in my arms. “We’re going home,” I told her, and she just burrowed herself into me, making my
whole body relax and my mind feel at ease, especially knowing she was safe now.
We finally arrived back at the house; I carried her out of the car and into the house, heading straight for
my room. As we passed her room, she furrowed her brows in confusion. “Wait, why aren’t you taking
me to my room?” She asked me.
I focused ahead of us. “You’re sleeping in my room tonight,” I said, and Amelia let out a sigh of relief. It
felt good knowing that she felt safe like this with me and wasn’t going to fight me on it.
We walked into the room, and I closed the door behind us with my foot, then sat her down on the bed.
“Would you like to have a shower?” I asked.
She nodded. “Yes, but I need some clothes.” She said, slight embarrassment masking her tone.
“I’ll get them; just go get into the shower; the bathroom is over there,” I told her before leaving the room
to go and get her something to wear for tonight. I came back to the room, and I could hear her crying;
rushing into the bathroom, I burst through the door, throwing it open “Amelia?” I noticed the shower was
on, and I opened the door, only to find her curled up in a ball on the shower floor. I knelt next to her.
“Are you ok?” I asked, concerned for her.
She just nodded in response as I brushed aside her wet hair. Amelia squeezed her eyes shut, willing
the tears away, but I could feel her pain, her sorrow, I felt everything she was right now, and without
saying another word, I climbed into the shower, engulfing her in my arms. I held onto her as if my life
depended on it, trying to ease her anxious body and mind. We stayed like that for some time, just
embracing each other. Finally, I got Amelia cleaned up and out of the shower, wrapping a clean towel
around her. I held her close to me again and kissed the top of her head, inhaling her scent.
I finally released her. “Here, I brought your clothes, get changed.”
Before getting into some dry clothes, I walked into the bedroom, took off my wet clothes, and placed
them into the hamper. Then, I got into the bed and waited patiently for Amelia to finish in the bathroom.
Finally, she came into the room, looking tired and mentally worn out. I lifted the blanket and padded the
bed, gesturing for her to get in. Amelia walked over, snuggling into me, and I pulled her closer, needing
to feel her against me. It felt good holding her like this to have her feel so content in my presence and
my arms.
Amelia POV:
The sun illuminated the room, waking me from my sleep. I stretched and then remembered; I was in
Damon’s room. I looked to the other side of the bed, but he was gone. Not dwelling on it, I got up from
the bed and went to the bathroom to relieve my aching bladder.
After exiting the bathroom, Damon was sitting on the bed. “Morning, how did you sleep?” He asked as
he stood from the bed.
“I slept well.” I smiled, realizing I hadn’t slept like that since my parents died. However, the nightmares
woke me a few times.
He sauntered towards me and loomed over me as he closed the distance between us. Damon brushed
my cheek with his thumb, grazing the skin lightly. “Good, I’m glad. Are you hungry? breakfast is ready
and waiting for us downstairs.” He said, smiling.
I smiled. “Yea, I’m hungry.” I did feel a bit hungry but also sick to my stomach.
“Good, come on, let’s go” He gestured towards the door and placed a hand on my back. His touch
comforted me, made my body feel alive and electric. But his touch also made me feel uneasy after last
night’s events.
We went downstairs and entered the kitchen, where two plates with eggs, bacon, toast, and a glass of
orange juice, were placed onto a small table.
I looked at Damon. “Is no one else joining us for breakfast?” I questioned. I figured we would have
been having breakfast with other people.
He shook his head. “No, it’s just us. I thought you might like the quiet this morning.” He pulled out a
chair for me to sit.
I gave him a small smile as I sat in the chair. “Thank you.” I was grateful that it was just us, not wanting
to be around other people right now.
Damon took his seat across from me, and we began to eat. At first, the silence between us was almost
deafening, I wanted to say something, make conversation, but I didn’t know what to say. I considered a
few things, and as I was about to break the tension finally, Damon beat me to it.
He cleared his throat. “So, why did you come to Killarney Park?”
My eyes dropped down, and I stared at the food on my plate. I was considering whether or not I wanted
to open up to Damon about my parents. Their death had been so brutal for me to talk about, and I
didn’t know Damon all that well yet, but maybe talking to someone might help me to move on.
I sucked in a deep breath. “Um, I came here in tribute to my parents.” I summed up.
Damon’s brows scrunched together. “What do you mean?”
I looked away, staring at the floor as I willed the tears away. I didn’t want to cry in front of Damon again.
I cleared my throat. “A little over a month ago, my parents were on their way here, for a hiking trip,
when…….” I inhaled a shuddering breath. “Their car went off the road.” I closed my eyes, hoping to
contain the tears that were now on the brim of my eyes. “Their bodies were never found, and neither
was the car, just pieces of the car and some of my parent's belongings. The police searched for days
but came up with nothing and presumed them dead.” Disappointment laced my tone, angry that I
couldn’t give them a proper burial.
Damon’s jaw tensed up, and he clenched his fists together, appearing as though this news bothered
him much more than I had expected. Finally, he closed his eyes and shook his head lightly before
letting out a heavy sigh. “I’m sorry, Amelia, that never should have happened to you or them.”
I pursed my lips and looked down at the food I had now lost my appetite to eat. “Yea, that’s why I came
here, though, to pay tribute to them.”
He nodded. “I understand, and I apologize for disrupting your journey.” He said remorsefully.
I shrugged. “Well, you didn’t know, and you were only protecting your people from an unknown
outsider.” I could understand his reasoning now, why he had done what he did.
He clenched his jaw again, grinding his teeth together. “That’s beside the point, you are only human,
and things should have been handled differently based on that factor. But if it’s any constellation, I’m
glad you’re here, with me.” He said with a small smile.
I smiled as my cheeks reddened. “Me too.” Even though everything has been a shit show since coming
here, the one thing that I was glad for was Damon. He made me feel things I hadn’t felt in years; he
made me feel alive.
We sat in silence and continued to eat our breakfast. Well, Damon ate; I mostly played with my food.
As we were gathering our dishes up, Damon stopped. “I’d like to show you around today, introduce you
to some of the people here, if you would like to.” He said with a questioning expression.
I pursed my lips, unsure whether or not I wanted to meet more people like Damon If I wanted to meet
more werewolves. I was feeling uneasy about the idea of meeting people who despised humans. But it
might be nice to get out and about today, to learn more about this hidden world and more about
Damon.
I nodded my head and smiled. “I’d like that.”
The smile that spread across his face was almost priceless and made me feel great about my decision.
He seemed so happy and excited.
“That’s great. I promise you won’t regret it.” I could’ve sworn his eyes were about to bulge out of his
head, and I giggled at his childish behaviour. We placed our dishes into the dishwasher and headed
upstairs to change. As I began to get changed, I became extremely nervous. These were people I
didn’t know, and if they didn’t like me, they could get rid of me without breaking a sweat. I tried to push
those thoughts to the back of my mind and remind myself that I would be with Damon, and numerous
times now, he has proven to me that he wouldn’t let anything happen to me. These thoughts reassured
me slightly.
