Chapter 46 What She Forgot
Chapter 46 What She Forgot
The two who came were policewomen, their attitude were mannered and calm, but their gazes were
shockingly strict.
Sadie was puzzled. When she confirmed that they have indeed came for herself, only that she
obediently followed them off the field and walked towards the stand on the side.
There were not many people out for a morning jog today, and since the two policewomen were not in
uniform, they were not noticed.
They reached the stand and sat down. Sadie swallowed and said quietly, “Can I know on what purpose
did you come to find me today?”
“Well, the children in Angel Welfare House are already transferred to better welfare houses, and the
deputy director who was on the run is already arrested. We hope that you can recall in detail, what
harm she has done to you during her term of position.” One of the policewomen smiled and explained.
Harm… Sadie lowered her head, both her hands clutched the hem of her t-shirt, as she frowned
deeply.
Why did this term made her felt familiar, along with the policewoman in front of her?
After about a minute, she raised her head and shook her head awkwardly. “My memories seemed to
have been cut off recently, I don’t even know about the welfare house being closed down. I’m so sorry.” Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
“It’s alright, because the suspect was just arrested, so we came immediately.”
The policewomen who spoke before raised her wrist to look at her watch, smiled and stood up. “Please
remain in touch these few days, we may need your assistance at any moment.”
Sadie heaved a sigh of relief, and could not help to have a smile on her face, “Sure.”
After she saw the two policewomen out, she looked at the time and decided not to jog at all, and she
turned and returned to her dormitory.
Daisy and the rest were already up. Paige and Riley were getting ready to go out, Daisy was also
tidying her bed.
Sadie slanted her body to let them go, and heard some gossip. She waited for them to walk further, and
immediately lowered her voice and asked from Daisy about what was actually happening.
Daisy shrugged in exasperation, “I don’t know either, they said the teacher for today’s lesson is very
handsome.”
Sadie heard this and immediately lost her interest.
She bathed and changed into clean clothes, tidied herself a bit, and there was not much time left. She
carried her bag and went for breakfast with Daisy, then rushed to the classroom.
The lesson this morning was handled by Professor Turner. Sadie and Daisy went in, found their places
and sat down. Hearing that someone on the side was speaking about the change of teachers, they
became alerted on instinct.
Daisy listened for a while and turned to enquire from their classmate on the side. Her eyes widened in
disbelief and the next moment she shared with her excitedly, “Did you hear that the CEO of the DHG
Group is coming to lecture us?”
Julian?! Sadie’s expression looked slightly shocked, and when she raised her head she bumped into a
pair of deep, cold pupils.
What he wore today was not much different than the usual, dressed in a black bespoke suit that
covered his already tall and slender figure flatteringly.
Standing in the midst of a group of youngsters, his calm and low key demeanour was even more
elegant and cold. They looked each other in the eyes, Sadie saw with surprise the smile in his eyes
and could not help but break out in cold sweat as she turned her gaze awkwardly.
The common lessons were arranged for every week, and the lesson of Marketing and Planning was
always lectured by Professor Turner. She never heard that there was a substitute, and never saw an
announcement.
Further, she never ever expected that Julian would be the new substitute. The common lesson that she
was excited for suddenly became boring because of his appearance.
“Sadie… Sadie, it really is Julian!” Daisy’s entire being was shocked, while she shook her shoulder and
said nonsensical words in a low voice. “Wow, I never thought that I would have the honour to be in the
same room with the richest man in City B again.”
Sadie’s mouth opened, her words were not able to get out before she heard a classmate on the side
said, “I wish he can take me from the front.”
She choked on her own spit, and turned to cover her mouth. She coughed silently, her face red and
hot.
That was too straightforward…
The screams around were here and there, and Daisy joined the jeers. She suddenly found that her face
was very red and immediately was concerned, “Are you alright, Sadie?”
“I’m fine, might be the after-effects from the flu.” Sadie lowered her head and suddenly felt a little
flustered.
Julian’s main lecture was on International Economic and Trading, why would he be here to lecture
about Marketing and Planning?
She had just said so, when a snigger came from her back, “Some people are just lowly, when they get
the opportunity they start being dissolute, like she’s afraid no one would know that she’s whoring.”
“Better than whoring but never being taken a fancy to,” Daisy turned and gave Paige a death glare. She
retorted coldly, “Stop being enigmatic!”
“You!” Paige was so angry she almost stomped, as she gritted her teeth and landed her gaze on Norah
Cooper and burst out in laughter, “If she can do so I can say so.”
Sadie was puzzled, recalling the incident about the police looking for her this morning, she frowned and
provoked her on purpose, “What did I do, if you have the guts you’d tell!”
Daisy must have known something, why she did not say was probably out of worry that she would not
be able to handle it.
The welfare house was suddenly closed down, the deputy director arrested. She really wanted to know
the reason behind. She wanted to know more about what she forgot.
Paige leaned over and sneered in her ear, “Stop acting like a saint, not one of you from that welfare
house is pure, one of you went out whoring and got beaten to death. What are you pretending to forget
about, whore!”
After she said this, she sat back to her own seat and raised her chin proudly.
Sadie stunned for a second, something seemed to erupt in her mind.
‘Not one of you from that welfare house is pure, one of you went out whoring and got beaten to death,
what are you pretending to forget about…’ Was this why the welfare house was closed down? Why had
she not the slightest impression!
Julian, who was on the stage, noticed that her expression was pale. He raised his eyes. His cold gaze
landed on Paige and on instinct he pursed his lower lip.
After the bell rang, he started to take attendance formally. His eyes always stopped on purpose on
Sadie.
He was sure that the girl had told her something that was not to be told just now.
The students that he called answered eventually, and he remembered that name – Paige.
With Daisy’s reminder, Sadie answered distractedly. Her hands that were clutching her notebook were
clenched into fists unknowingly.
When she woke up that day Julian was beside her, he must have known what happened.
The more she thought about it the angrier she got. What he had said for the whole lesson she did not
even get in one single word.
The common lesson that was supposed to be an hour and a half was delayed to two hours because of
Julian. It made the teacher that was supposed to use the staired classroom furious.
But his anger was to no avail, the staired classroom that was always forty percent full was at full
capacity today. There was even a crowd of people outside the window.
Sadie put her notebook away. She waited when the crowd was almost gone, stood up and walked
outside looking lost.
Daisy accompanied her carefully, her expression full of worry. “Are you alright? You don’t look well.”
Sadie shook her head.
When she got down the stairs, a classmate came for her and said that Professor Turner was looking for
her. She turned her head and smiled at Daisy and turned to walk towards the faculty building.
When she passed the flower beds before the building, her arm was suddenly clutched by someone.
She then landed in a solid embrace, as the familiar masculine scent flooded in on her.
