Chapter 28 Afraid that she would run away

Chapter 28 Afraid that she would run away

Sadie startled him so much that he didn’t even dare to move, his forehead was covered in layer after

layer of sweat.

He was a man, to be more specific he was a very able bodied man who was at the prime of his life…

so when she realised this she started to feel that she was in a very dangerous situation at the moment.

Libby once said that men were a species who thought using the lower part of their bodies and once

they were overwhelmed by their lust, as long as the person in front of them was a living and breathing

female, then they would go and have sex with them.

She had never experienced this, since before the most intimate that she had gotten with Otto was a

kiss on the forehead or the cheek. Other than that she had never had a proper kiss before.

As she thought about, she imagined that she wouldn’t be able to resist enjoying the kiss.

Her scar spread from the corner of her eye to the cheekbone, and the newly formed skin was uneven

which made people feel quite uncomfortable to look at.

Therefore she was sure that Julian had other reasons for why he wanted to marry her. As she thought

about this, Sadie settled down and had signed the agreement, and felt this was the right thing to do.

It was her that made the decision to give up on Otto, so she knew she had to continue on and not think

about this anymore. Therefore she closed her eyes and quickly fell asleep.

Julian lowered his eyes and saw clearly the left side of her face due to the faint light that came through

the window. He then creased his eyebrows together, closed his eyes and also fell asleep.

It was six thirty when the alarm clock woke them up.

He lay still, squinted his eyes and saw Sadie turn off the alarm clock. He then stretched out his hand in

front of his eyes as if to be sure of something, and then just continued to pretend to be asleep.

"So you’re still not awake…” Sadie snorted, gently lifted the quilt, slid off the other side of the bed and

got up to get dressed.

Julian opened his eyes only a small fraction so he could have a good view of the sight in front of him,

and as he did the corners of his mouth raised slightly.

Sadie really was very careless, however when she was younger and changed her clothes she didn’t

hide away from him either. In fact whenever she was ill, he would change her clothes for her.

Sadie had her back to the bed as she got changed. She then took a quick glance back, opened the

door and tip toed out to go wash her face.

Julian couldn’t sleep anymore so he picked up his phone, looked at the monitoring app and saw that

she had gone to the gym on the third floor to exercise and that she had tied up her hair into a ponytail,

her eyes focused on what she was doing.

Because her hair was put up away from her face, the scar on her face became very obvious. The

camera lens also just happened to show her left side so he could see it very clearly.

It seemed that this scar was not from a fire but from being burnt by something. As he thought about her

being disfigured by someone, he couldn’t keep looking at her anymore, and when he thought about

how in the future if something like this happened, a sharp look flashed across his eyes.

After he closed the monitoring screen, Julian then called Khalid’s number. When the call connected he

asked if there were any words that needed to be conveyed to him from the Chambers family.

“I haven’t heard anything; however Mr Cayden mentioned that you should come over during the Double NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

Ninth Festival.” Khalid’s voice made it seem as if he had just woken up.

Go back during the Double Ninth Festival? Julian pursed his lips, answered with an ‘I got it’ and then

hung up the call.

Sadie tried some of the other equipment in the gym, but after she felt she didn’t really suit this

equipment, she returned back to the treadmill and continued on jogging at a slow pace.

The symptoms of her cold seemed to have improved a bit. After sweating it seemed her body loosened

up slightly, it was now just her nose was still a bit blocked and her throat was still slightly

uncomfortable.

Once she returned back she noticed that Julian had already left. On the bedside table there was a

black card and underneath it was a note with a very flamboyant writing style.

She glanced at the content, crumpled the note into a ball and then threw it into the trash can.

After she took her pills she took a quick shower. She then put on some rather plain clothes, put her bag

onto her back and slowly walked down the stairs.

“Lady Sadie is up.” Amina stood at the top of the stairs, and looked as if she had been waiting there for

a long time, however on a face was a very warm and loving smile. “Julian has already left for the

company, but he left a message and said you must eat some breakfast before you leave for school.”

“Alright.” Sadie smiled obediently.

Amina and the maid were both hired by Julian, so she didn’t need to express too much concern about

them since they were just paid workers.

The breakfast was light; however the porridge was both soft and fragrant, whilst the appetisers were all

very refreshing and delicious.

After Sadie ate a few bites, she couldn’t help but praise Amina for the food.

“Julian said that you are ill, and that you can only handle some light foods, so he wanted me to

specially prepare this for you.” Amina explained with a smile on her face; however her tone revealed

some envy. “Julian really is very caring, you are very lucky.”

Sadie twitched the corners of her mouth but didn’t say anything.

She was not lucky, everything in front of her was due to her manipulation and if Julian knew this then

she was sure he would tell her to leave very quickly.

After she finished eating, the driver had arrived. She opened the back seat of the car and got inside,

and politely told the driver of her school’s address.

“Julian has already explained to me that I can’t get the car right to the school’s entrance, so once you

get out of the car you still need to walk a certain distance.” The driver said this courteously as he

started the car.

Sadie responded politely and then leaned back against the seat rather bored. How much free time did

Julian actually have, to the extent that he even had time to explain such a small matter to the driver?

Was he really afraid she would run away?

All the classes she had in the morning were her required and elective classes. However because

Sadie’s thoughts were wandering elsewhere, she didn’t take as many notes as she usually did before.

Once class had finished she was just walking out of the classroom when Daisy pulled her over with a

face full of gossip. “Otto was on the entertainment section of the newspaper and it said that he would

be getting married to the daughter of the Brooks family, have you seen?”

“I saw.” Sadie felt like a knife was stabbing her in the chest, the pain was indescribable.

She had not just seen the news but she saw it with her own eyes.

“Your reaction is not what I expected.” Daisy raised her hand and put it onto her shoulder, looked at her

and said, “Did you two break up?”

Break up? Sadie was stunned, and for an instant it seemed that her heart was being gripped by a big

hand which made her hardly be able to breathe in pain, however in the end she just nodded

embarrassed.

“No way!” Daisy went a bit too far in her reaction and when she realised that her voice was too loud she

quickly covered her mouth and dragged Sadie downstairs still in disbelief, "Why did you two break up?"

Although her voice was not loud anymore, what she was saying could still be heard by Paige and Riley

who were behind them.

“Let’s go and listen.” Paige grabbed Riley’s hand, both of them taking delight in Sadie’s apparent

misfortune. Right now it was the end of class time so there were students from all departments in the

corridor, and since it was as lively as usual, no one noticed them.

Sadie was being pulled by Daisy unaware that following behind them were classmates from their

dormitory. In her mind though was filled with thoughts that perhaps Julian had arranged people to keep

an eye on her.

When they reached the break area in front of the building, Daisy noticed that Sadie was still looking

rather absent minded which perhaps meant that their break up really was true, which made her start to

sympathise for Sadie. “Did you two break up, or did he cheat?”

The entertainment section of the newspaper had spread quickly among the students, especially the

news regarding the marriage between Otto and Leyla, which had every detail exposed.

“Uh…” Sadie returned from her thoughts and replied rather slowly, “It was a mutual break up.”

Up until now she hadn’t had the courage to speak to Otto, and when she thought about how from now

on things would never be the same with Otto again, she felt some pain in her chest.

Everything was her own fault; however she still had hope in her solution. As long as she could pay

back the money that was owed to the DHG Group for the welfare home, then she could regain her

freedom.

“Was it really?” Daisy felt that things were not as simple as this.

Sadie smiled and nodded when suddenly her phone rang and when she saw whose number it was her

expression changed and she quickly walked away.
