Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 828

Mr. Tanner and the others grabbed a cab and took off.

Flora shot Moss a quick message, asking him to come get her. But just as she stepped onto the curb, a massive truck came barreling her way! It was moving so fast, like the driver had a death wish, and it closed in on her in a blink! The air was filled with the terrified screams of bystanders. Flora twisted her body just in time, narrowly escaping being run over, though her elbows and knees scraped hard against the curb.

A bald man, wearing a mask, leaned out the truck's window, looking shocked, as if he hadn't expected Flora to dodge so quickly. In the next heartbeat, he pulled out a gun and aimed right at her arm. Bang-

The bullet tore into Flora's left arm with brutal force.

First Hospital.

VIP Wing.

By the time Connor arrived, Flora had already been taken into surgery.

"Ms. Flora is in rough shape. She's got a nasty fracture in her left arm and some scrapes, but the worst is the arm. The bullet went clean through it. We've just managed to get it out..."

"How's she doing?"

With each word the hospital director spoke, Connor's presence grew more intimidating, leaving the director drenched in a cold sweat, struggling for breath as if caught in a chokehold. He'd never seen Mr. Connor so terrifying before. Like a predator ready to pounce.

Usually, Connor was the picture of calm and composed, but now he was a mess, having rushed over in a panic. His face, normally a mask, was alive with fear, rage, and a sharp, murderous glint in his eyes. Ms. Flora was-

Incredibly important to him.

And Flora herself was tough as nails; despite her severe injuries and being drenched in blood, she hadn't uttered a peep.

Moss and Beck, standing behind Connor, went as white as sheets after hearing the director's update.

Ten minutes later, Flora was

wheeled out of surgery. Her face

was ghostly pale from the anesthesia, her lips a dark shade of blue, and her arm was wrapped in thick bandages that were still seeping blood.

Connor felt like his heart was in a vise, his breathing all messed up.

Flora...

His legs felt weak, trembling slightly.

Flora was moved into a fancy VIP room, stiff out cold from the anesthesia. Connor stayed by her bedside, not taking his eyes off her for a second.

"Boss, the driver who hurt Ms. Flora is locked up in the dungeon. We caught him trying to flee," Moss reported, standing by Connor's side. Connor didn't say a word.

His dark eyes were glued to Flora's pale face, his hand gently stroking her bandaged arm.

With a soft sigh, Moss stepped out of the room.

Flora came to about an hour later. The anesthesia had worn off, and as soon as she was aware, a sharp pain shot through her arm.

She opened her eyes, and the first face she saw was Connor's.

"Connor." Her voice was raspy, like an old bellows, but to Connor, it was the most beautiful sound in the world.

His girl was awake.

His eyes, red from holding back

tears, welled up, his chest feeling like

it was packed with cotton, making it hard to breathe. He leaned forward, reaching out to gently cradle her head pulling her in to rest against his chest.

He was on the brink of losing it.
