Chapter 438
"What's going on?" Aisha asked through gritted teeth, her mind a whirlwind of frustration and anger.
Lindsey, pale and shaking, handed her the tablet.
Irritated, Aisha glanced at the screen, and the bold letters made her freeze. She snatched the tablet and, as she read further, her expression grew darker.
Someone had uploaded a video of her tossing fan gifts into a trash can, along with clips of her berating staff members behind the scenes. Her fierce demeanor in the videos was a stark contrast to the innocent image she projected on the big screen.
The video shot to the top of the trending searches, with the text magnified for maximum impact. It was impossible to miss.
The comment section had erupted, with everyone calling her a fake, saying her "facade" had crumbled. In no time, she had lost tens of thousands of followers.
"Who the hell posted this?!" she shouted, throwing the tablet to the ground. "What are you standing around for? Get PR on the line and get this taken down! Delete the video!"
"Yes, yes, right away..." The PR team was already scrambling to lower the search ranking and were in constant contact with the platform. But the staff seemed more interested in taking money without delivering results, giving only vague excuses.
After nearly half an hour, the trending search hadn't dropped; it had grown even more intense. The phrase "national sweetheart's image collapse" was plastered all over the internet.
Aisha's reputation in the industry had always been rocky; she often bullied newcomers by flaunting her higher status. Now that she was in trouble, both onlookers and rival fans were piling on. Even some of her own fans were turning against her.
"I've always said Aisha was fake. Do you believe it now? This is just the tip of the iceberg. How do you think she got such great gigs at such a young age? She played the game well, that's how." "Fans made gifts with their own hands, and she just tossed them in the trash. This kind of immoral artist should be banned from the internet."
"Oh, so you think you're all high and mighty because you have a keyboard? You must be having a miserable life. Haven't you ever lost your temper in private? The staff took her money and annoyed her, so she scolded them. Big deal. The things we gave her, if she threw them away, what's it to you?"Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
There were a few die-hard fans trying to defend Aisha, but they were quickly overwhelmed by the rest of the internet's fury. The comment section was a mess, mostly filled with criticisms of Aisha.
Even business partners were reaching out, demanding to know what was going on. She tried to explain it away as a misunderstanding, maintaining a calm demeanor on the phone. But after hanging up, she threw her phone down in a rage: "Hasn't the PR department fixed this yet?!"
The PR staff, nervous and scared, replied, "Aisha, we've been in contact with Twitter, but they said the other side has a powerful hacker, and they can't get the trending search down."
"It must be that bitch!" Aisha snarled. She had just had a falling out with Flora, and now this? There was no way it wasn't connected!
A hacker, huh... Aisha immediately thought of her cousin Brianna, a sophomore in the Computer Science department at University of Maple Grove.
She quickly called her. "What's up, cuz?"
"Hey, there's a hacker causing trouble for me online. Can you help me out and get the trending search down?"
"Give me a second."
On the other end, Brianna closed her chat window with Ivan and opened Twitter.
Aisha's heart pounded as she waited. After several minutes of silence, she couldn't help but ask anxiously, "Is it done yet?"
