Chapter 787: Gabrio Extra 2
In the evening, Neto prepared a few more tables for his friends and relatives.
It was all young people, and neither the Pastrano family nor Inocencio attended, who went straight home to rest.
Alanzo’s family also attended and showed up for the wedding reception at noon and stayed at the hotel.
Alanzo also knew that the evening was an event for his youngsters, and when Neto arrived and asked them if they wanted to come, they declined, and Neto, without much persuasion, instead brought his daughter, Alarico, to play.
Alarico, who is about to graduate and is still doing her internship, has been very busy lately and only had time to come to Neto’s wedding.
On the road, Neto and Alaric were walking side by side.
Neto asked Alarico how he was doing. The Pastrano family has three brothers and Alarico is a bright and intelligent girl, Neto naturally likes his half-sister.
“How many times have I called you to say we could have dinner together sometime and you don’t even bother me?”
Alaric smiled a little sheepishly and, not knowing what was on his mind, stammered, “It’s OK, he’s a bit busy …”.
Neto saw her stuttering and teased her: “You’re in love and you’re afraid I’ll find out, so why don’t you come out to see me?
Alaric immediately denied it: “No!
And then, feeling that his words were hardly credible, he added: “If you don’t believe me, ask Carmencita, I live with her in a rented flat”.
She and Carmencita were classmates and good friends.
In fact, Neto was asking a casual question and, seeing how nervous I was, did not press the issue.
Once inside the booth, Neto introduced Alarico and Marco pulled out the chair next to him: “Alarico, come and sit down.
Neto had to be bought drinks tonight, and being the older brother, he naturally had to take care of his sister.
Alaric used to be a little afraid of Marco, but he knew that his older brother liked him too, otherwise he wouldn’t always remember to ask Carmencita to bring him his birthday presents.
On the other side of Marco sat Carmencita and as soon as Alarico sat down, Carmencita squeezed Alarico’s eyes: “Alarico, I have something to tell you later”.
Marco hit Carmencita on the head: “Eat”.
Carmencita pouted, sat up straight and ate slowly.
Neto came up just in time with Lucila.
“This is my sister, Alaric”.
Alaric stood up and called out with a smile: “Sister-in-law!
Alaric looked very much like Alanzo.
Lucila smiled and said a few words, and when she turned around, Neto asked her: “Is it true that Severo and the others are not coming?
Lucila nodded and said, “They have Alonzo with them and Allyce is pregnant and there’s a lot of people here, so they’re not coming”.
Everyone in Neto’s circle was marrying late, they were very happy that Neto was getting married, and when they were happy, they took the risk of doing their own thing.
So, at ten o’clock, Marcus was going to send Alaric to his room.
But Alaric shook his head, “No, I’ll go alone”.
Seeing Alaric leaving, Carmencita hurried to put down her chopsticks and got up: “I will go with Alaric”.
Marco frowned and, before he could say anything, Carmencita dragged Alaric out.
Once the two girls were out of the booth, they started chatting.
Alaric asked him first: “Didn’t you say your cousin was coming too? I haven’t even seen him.
“I brought him in at noon, but he saw who was there and left”. Carmencita knew that if she said Allyce’s name, Alaric would not recognise him, so instead she simply used “who”.
“Who is it?” Alaric was curious.
“You wouldn’t know if I told you, but if you really manage to bring my cousin down, maybe he’ll tell you himself.”
Alaric sniffed and slowed his steps.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“What’s going on? Go away.
“I have to go out on business, so go back to your room.”
“Alaric!”
Carmencita only had time to shout his name and Alaric was already on the run.
Once outside the hotel, Alaric prepared a congee and a few small plates at a congee shop and took a taxi to Gabrio’s house.
She and Carmencita were good friends and Gabrio was Carmencita’s next-door cousin, so it was logical that she knew Gabrio.
I have never met a man as special as Gabrio.
At their first meeting, he was sitting in a wheelchair, his face thin, calm and gentle.
Then, as if by magic, he kept looking for an opportunity to see Gabrio.
When the taxi stopped and Alaric got out, she looked up at Gabrio’s flat and saw that there were no lights on.
In all likelihood, he would not have returned.
He had to crouch in a flowerbed and wait for Gabrio to return.
…
In the lab, Gabrio had planned to work on his experiments overnight, but his mind was a little fuzzy and he couldn’t calm down.
He removed his mask and turned to sit in a chair, his eyes downcast as he remembered Allyce’s “Mr. Gabrio”, and a smile spread across his face.
I had thought that maybe one day I would see Allyce again.
I would never know when that day would come, but perhaps it would be a day much later, a casual glimpse in a sea of people in the street.
After arriving in Ciudad del Cielo, he was busy and full of life, but his heart was empty.
He was still doing experiments, writing reports and working to fill his time.
But when he was free, it was easy to think of Allyce.
They had known each other for more than twenty years and it had become a habit to love and care for her.
Although he knew she was happy and at peace now, he could not stop worrying and thinking about her.
Raising his hand to check the time, it was about twelve o’clock.
He took off his coat and put on his jacket, intending to return.
Winter in Sky City was cold, it was late and the streets were deserted.
By the time he reached his flat, it was past midnight.
He was about to enter the flat when he heard a very soft noise, which sounded like human breathing.
He rounded a clump of vegetation and saw Alaric sitting on a tile at the edge of a flower bed, under a lamppost, clutching a ball in his arms, already leaning on the post, asleep.
A flash of surprise crossed Gabrio’s eyes, then he moved closer.
“Miss Salguero”.
There was no response from Alaric.
Gabrio had to reach out and tap him on the shoulder.
Only then did Alaric turn back.
When he saw Gabrio, his eyes lit up, clear as day.
“Cousin, you’re back!”
She was so happy that she got up with the takeaway in her arms, but her legs went numb and she rushed forcefully in front of her.
Gabrio hurried to catch up with her.
They were so close that Alaric could smell their characteristic fresh scent.
His face flushed instantly and he stammered a little: “Cousin … Yo, my legs are numb …”
