Chapter 61: Also no time next week
“Boss!”
Xabat’s voice came from outside the door.
Severo turned and headed for the door, then returned with an extra bag in his hand.
“Change first.” With that, she turned and walked out, and closed the door behind her.
Allyce stared at the closed door for a moment, stunned, before opening the bag.
The bag contained clothes … from the inside out.
There was a flash of shame in Allyce’s eyes – she couldn’t have asked Xabat to buy them, could she?
Thinking about Severo’s usual acting style, he thought it must not be possible.
When she put on the dress, she checked that it was the right size.
When she pushed open the door, Severo was standing in front of the window smoking, and when he saw her leave, he put out the cigarette in his hand.
He looked her up and down and then summed up in four words: “The dress looks good on you”.
“Thank you.
A wordless estrangement spread between the two.
Allyce: “Are you free? Let’s get divorced today.
If the divorce was finalised soon, she would have no relationship with Severo, and whatever he wanted to do, whatever his intentions, would have nothing to do with her.
“There’s no time.” Severo’s face, already expressionless, sank a couple of times, then he turned to her and asked, “What are you going to do about your cousin?”
“None of your business.” Allyce reached back and raked the long, damp, slightly uncomfortable head.
When Severo said nothing, he asked again: “What day do you have time?
“There’s no time for next week.” Severo’s tone sounded a little strange, as if he was taking a gamble: “I’m going abroad on business for at least a week.
Hearing a week, Allyce frowned: “Can you go and do the paperwork before you leave?
“No, I have business to attend to later, the afternoon flight.” And with that, he turned back to his desk and leafed through a large stack of papers.
Severo’s attitude was indifferent; as he had already accepted, he should not back out.
Although I had an old feeling that Severo was not very reluctant, I would not be stupid enough to ask.
…
As she left the office, Allyce saw Lucila and Xabat chatting, looking hateful.
“Lucila,” Allyce said as she approached, still carrying her own wet clothes in her hands.
Lucila turned around, a smile still on her face, “Hey, Allyce you’re out, come on, come sit over here.”
Allyce shook her head, “No, I want to go home first”.
“Then I’m going to …”
Allyce waved his hand: “Go ahead, talk to Mr Vasconcelos, I’m fine.
Lucila was also free to make friends, if she got on well with Xabat and wanted to talk more, she was naturally at his mercy.
When Lucila heard her say that, she ran back to continue her conversation with Xabat.
Allyce smiled and shook her head, she had been like that for as long as she had known Lucila, she seemed to get along with everyone, she said no to everything she didn’t like, she was straighter than a ruler.
…
Allyce left before Severo came out.
When he saw Lucila, who was talking to Xabat, his eyes sparkled and then he looked around.
However, there was no sign of the figure I wanted to see.
With a sombre look, he approached: “Xabat”.
“Boss.” Xabat, who was talking to Lucila, immediately stood up.
“Reconcile this month’s statements and bring them to me, and book a flight to the US for the night.
Severo ordered briefly and turned to go back inside.
He heard Xabat calling behind him: “Boss, there are only tickets available for the 1am flight to the US tonight, but nothing else.
Severo stopped slightly in his tracks and turned his head to give him a cold sweeping look, “I don’t care what time it is, you have to catch your flight tonight and you have to go too.
Severo entered before Lucila asked Xabat: “Why did you look so hurt when he said you had to go?
Xabat said expressionlessly: “Because I get dizzy”.
“Doesn’t your boss know you get airsick?” Lucila felt a little sorry for the handsome blue-eyed man, it was a ten hour flight to America.
“He just knows that’s why he asked me to come too.”
Lucila was a little confused when she heard him say that: “Why?
Xabat said with a weathered smile: “A man who wants something is always very grumpy”.
Lucila: “Eh?”
Xabat gave him an inscrutable look and went to book his flight online.
Seeing that Xabat had something to do, Lucila left.
Xabat booked the flight and took the statement to Severo’s office in pairs.
Xabat handed me the paper: “Boss, here are this month’s declarations”.
Severo glanced at it, realised it was something he had seen before and frowned: “Xabat”.
Xabat had been with him for so many years that when he spoke, Xabat knew what he was going to say.
Xabat hesitated, but decided to be honest: “Yesterday was the 15th, and this statement is something you just read yesterday.
Severo’s movements falter and his expression becomes strange.
Xabat ducked his head, taking in the expected low blow.
He should have known the truth, and the boss just acted like he was being nice in front of Miss Delahoz.
He was the first to suffer when he was in a bad mood.
The boss is going abroad on a personal matter, but he has to be included in the trip! He’s dizzy!
After a while, Severo suddenly asked a question that sent a shiver down Xabat’s spine: “Xabat, have you ever been married?
“No … no.” Why did the boss suddenly ask such a strange question?
Severo seemed to think of something that was bothering him, his eyebrows furrowed and he waved his hand, “Forget it, you go out”.
Xabat turned and took two steps, then stepped back: “Boss, if I get you a dinner date with Miss Delahoz, can you go to America without me?
Severo said without hesitation: “Yes”.
For a moment, Xabat felt the pathos of “a subordinate who has been worse than a pig for years”.
…
Allyce went home, dried her hair and fell asleep.
Later she was woken up by Lucila’s phone call.
“What is it?” Allyce answered the phone with her eyes closed. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
Lucila’s energetic voice rang on the other end of the line: “What are you doing? Sleeping, going out for dinner.
“Where?” Speaking of dinner, Allyce found herself feeling a bit peckish.
Lucila gave an address and immediately hung up the phone.
Allyce got up, changed her clothes and went out.
The place Lucila had mentioned was a night market, which was, to put it bluntly, a roadside stall.
The Su family did not allow them to eat at these street stalls, but Lucila had already taken her there several times and found it interesting and tasty.
He found a place to park his car and walked over to find two other men in addition to Lucila.
Lucila immediately intervened to explain: “I only called Xabat, I didn’t call Mr. Betances! I swear.
