Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan)

Chapter 2157

Chapter 2157

"Which hospital? I'm on my way."

Sophia gave him the address, trying to ease his worry, "Don't panic, I'm much better now. Just drive safely, okay?"

"Alright."

Sophia hung up, her face lighting up as she turned to Estelle. "Robin's coming over."

"That's good to hear," Estelle said with a warm smile, though her eyes briefly flicked to Jason outside, feeling a tinge of sadness.

Jason, holding his own jacket, spoke up, "Since Robin's on his way, I guess it's my cue to leave."

He was afraid he might not be able to hold back from punching Robin if he stayed. But seeing how Sophia wasn't blaming him, even looking forward to his visit, what right did he have to interfere?

Sophia teased, seeing Jason ready to leave, "I know you're a busy man. Go on. Robin can keep me company. Don't let us keep you."

Jason's face visibly darkened.

Estelle and Jonathan exchanged a knowing look, both feeling a bit sorry for Jason.

Turning to Sophia, Estelle reassured, "I'll stay and take care of you."

Jason nodded slightly, said his goodbyes to Jonathan, and without another look at Sophia, he strode out of the room.

Once Jason left, Estelle moved closer to the bed, her voice soft, "You know, Jason stayed up all night keeping watch over you."

Sophia was momentarily stunned, suddenly recalling all the times he had stayed by her side through the night when she was ill, and a sense of guilt washed over her. "He shouldn't have troubled himself."

"He doesn't mind the trouble. But you talked about him like that just now. That's what really hurt him," Estelle said gently.

Sophia's guilt deepened. "You know I joke around, especially with Mr. Gilder. We've never held back. He's not actually mad, is he?"

"Of course not. Just butter him up a little later and all will be fine," Estelle said with a smile.

"When I'm better, I'll take him out to dinner with Robin."

Estelle thought to herself that might make things worse.

Her phone buzzed with a text from Jason, [Make sure she eats her breakfast. She skipped dinner last night, don't let her be stubborn.]

Reading Jason's message, Estelle felt a pang of bittersweet emotion.

Love always trod so carefully, while the beloved acted with brazen assurance.

She brought over the breakfast Jason had arranged – a bowl of oatmeal and some pancakes. "Jason insists you eat breakfast. What would you like?"

Sophia was back to her carefree self. "I knew he wouldn't hold a grudge. I'm in the mood for some pancakes."

"A good appetite is a sign you're getting better," Estelle said as she set the food down.

Sophia grinned. "I'm fine, really. I'll be checking out soon."

"Jason suggested you stay a couple more days," Estelle mentioned.

"No way am I staying here, smelling like antiseptic. I'm out of here."

Jonathan sat in the waiting room returning some calls when the door swung open and Robin walked in.

Upon seeing Jonathan, Robin's demeanor immediately became more respectful. "Mr. Lamont, you're here too."

Jonathan gave a curt nod. "Hello, President Hester." This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Robin, carrying a basket of fruit, looked a bit remorseful. "I've been swamped leading a project these past few days. Meetings until midnight – I had no idea Sophia was sick, let alone hospitalized. Thank goodness for you."

"It's nothing. My wife and Sophia are close, like sisters. It's the least we could do," Jonathan replied evenly.

"Do you have time for lunch, Mr. Lamont? I'd like to treat you to a meal as a thank-you for you and Ms. Macclain taking care of Sophia," Robin offered with a polite smile.

Jonathan didn't respond to the invitation, instead suggesting, "President Hester, perhaps you should go see Sophia first."

"Yes, of course," Robin quickly agreed, then said to Jonathan, "Please, make yourself comfortable. I'll go check on Sophia."

As Robin entered the room, Sophia had just finished her breakfast. She smiled upon seeing him. "Robin."

Estelle also stood up to greet him. "Hello."

"Ms. Macclain I can't thank you and Mr. Lamont enough," Robin expressed his guilt. "I failed to take care of Sophia, didn't even know she was in the hospital. I'm so relieved you were here for her."
