Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan)

Chapter 2152

Chapter 2152

Diana was a bundle of nerves as she confessed, “I’m really scared, but what can the cops do without evidence? They can’t just arrest him, and I’m terrified he’ll come after me if he finds out I called them.”

“Then you gotta move out.” Robin urged. “Don’t stay here.”

“But I’ve paid six months' rent upfront, and it’s such a hassle to get it back. And you know, it’s close to work and was hard to come by. I just can’t let it go.” Diana lamented, her face the picture of helplessness.

“Just be extra careful, alright? And call me if you need anything,” Robin said, his concern evident.

Diana hesitated, “I don’t want to bother you too much. Sophia might get upset.”

“Listen, you came to J City with no family or friends here. It’s only right I help you out. Sophia’s understanding; she won’t mind,” Robin reassured her.

“Yeah, Sophia is truly wonderful. You’re a lucky guy,” Diana said with an innocent smile.

Robin just smiled softly, “I am.”

Their conversation was interrupted when the silence of the night closed in around them. Diana pushed her water glass forward, offering, “Have some water, Robin.”

Given the late hour and their solitude, Robin felt it was inappropriate to linger. Standing up, he declined, “No thanks, I should get going if you’re safe now.”

“Could you stay a bit longer?” Diana’s voice was soft and timid. “I get so scared when I’m here alone. Would it be okay if you stayed just a little while longer?”

Robin hesitated but finally nodded, “Alright, I’ll stay a bit. Just to make sure that guy doesn’t come back.”

“Thank you so much,” Diana beamed at him, her gratitude sweet and genuine.

“It’s no trouble. I’m here to look after you,” Robin assured her.

Diana stood up, “You sit tight. I’m going to take a shower.”

A warmth spread through Robin as he nodded nonchalantly, “Sure, go ahead. I’m here, you’ve got nothing to worry about.”

“Okay,” Diana said, giving him a deep, meaningful look before lowering her eyes and retreating to her bedroom.

The heating was on in the house, making the air warm and dry. Robin took a sip of water and shot a quick message to Sophia, [Hey Sophia, work ran late. You get some rest; I’ll come by tomorrow.]

Two minutes later, Sophia replied, [I’m fine, don’t wear yourself out. Take care of yourself.]

[Will do. I’ll see you first thing in the morning,] Robin texted back.

[Goodnight,] Sophia sent.

Robin set his phone down but was startled by a knock at the door. His expression hardened as he approached, peering through the peephole to see a man in a black puffer jacket and a baseball cap standing outside. NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

He flung the door open and demanded, “What do you want?”

The man in the cap jumped back, stammering, “Who-who are you?”

“I’m Diana’s boyfriend. If you don’t stop bothering her, I’ll break your legs,” Robin threatened with a menacing glower.

The man turned tail and ran.

“Who was it?” Diana approached in her pajamas, her voice laced with alarm.

“A guy in his late twenties, wearing a black puffer jacket and a baseball cap. Was it him?” Robin inquired.

“Yes, that’s him,” Diana confirmed, visibly shaken. “What did he say?”

“Nothing. I scared him off,” Robin assured her.

“But he’ll come back,” Diana was on the verge of tears.

Robin quickly said, “Don’t worry, I already warned him off.”

“Warnings don’t work. I’ve warned him more than once,” Diana’s eyes brimmed with tears, her vulnerability palpable. “What am I going to do, Robin? What am I going to do?”
