Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan)

Chapter 2114

Chapter 2114

Old Mr. Quintin watched them depart and took a seat in the spot Estelle had just vacated. With a chuckle, he said, "Looks like it's me who'll keep you company, my boy. Young folks just don't have the patience, so you better recognize that I'm the one who's in for the long haul. Realize that sooner, and save me the headache!"

Old Mr. Jarvis, busy setting up the chessboard, replied calmly, "We're not even sure that Evelyn is Vivian's daughter. Aren't you getting a bit ahead of yourself?"

Old Mr. Quintin's expression grew serious. "It's been over twenty years. If Evelyn isn't, do you really think I can ever find Nana again?"

"Hmph," Mr. Jarvis grunted. "So, what? You're planning to just go along with a mistake?"

Old Mr. Quintin frowned. "What mistake? At this point, there's at least a fifty-fifty shot that Evelyn is my granddaughter. No, I'd say it's more like eighty percent."

Sighing, Old Mr. Jarvis said, "I just don't want you to end up disappointed."

Old Mr. Quintin waved his hand dismissively. "After all these years, I've had my fair share of disappointment. Evelyn's a poor kid too, just like you said. If it turns out we're wrong, well, then we're wrong, and that's not so bad."

"As long as you can come to terms with it!"

"You should give my suggestion some thought. Our families uniting through marriage—I trust your boy, Gabriel, and Evelyn seems like a fine girl. If Gabriel settles down with a wife, maybe he'll finally put down roots," Old Mr. Quintin said with a smile.

Old Mr. Jarvis made a move on the board. "That's assuming Evelyn is even interested."

"Don't give me that polite nonsense!" Old Mr. Quintin said, half-annoyed.

"It's not nonsense. Evelyn might not be interested in Gabriel, no matter how good a catch he is!"

"And what if Nana likes the idea?" Old Mr. Quintin raised an eyebrow. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Old Mr. Jarvis looked at the chessboard and nodded. "If Evelyn agrees, I'll speak for Gabriel."

"Then there's no problem!" Old Mr. Quintin exclaimed, placing a black piece triumphantly among the white.

Gabriel drove Estelle and Evelyn to the mall.

Stepping into a high-end boutique, Estelle picked out several outfits for Evelyn, who was taken aback by the price tags. Tugging at Estelle's sleeve, she whispered, "These are too expensive. I don't have that much money."

Estelle laughed. "Just try them on. Your grandpa insisted that he's covering all your expenses today."

"But I can't let Grandpa spend so much!"

"Don't worry about it. Just go try them on. He specifically asked me to tell you that."

A sales associate approached, carrying the selected outfits to the fitting room for Evelyn.

Soon enough, Evelyn emerged, her naturally sweet and delicate features enhanced by the new clothes, elevating her whole presence.

Gazing at her reflection, a sparkle lit up in Evelyn's eyes, and with the sales associate lavishing praise, she felt a growing fondness for the ensemble.

Taking a seat in the lounge area, Evelyn turned to Gabriel and asked, "Gabriel, what do you think? Do I look good?"

Gabriel, sipping his coffee, looked up and nodded. "You look great!"

Evelyn's smile broadened, and she told the sales associate, "I'll take this one!"

Beaming, the associate said, "Ms. Macclain also picked out a few more for you to try on!"

"Sure!" Evelyn continued to try on the rest of the clothes.

After two hours and five outfits, Gabriel patiently waited in the lounge area, showing not a hint of impatience.

Leaving the mall, Evelyn linked arms with Estelle, admiring the tall figure ahead carrying the shopping bags, and felt that truly, there were such outstanding men in the world.

Later on, Estelle brought Evelyn to the GK Jewelry studio to pick out accessories.

Evelyn surveyed the dazzling array of jewelry behind the glass and murmured, "Estelle, we've already bought so much, and I don't usually wear jewelry."

"The clothes were a gift from your grandpa, consider the jewelry my treat," Estelle said. "If it turns out you're Old Mr. Quintin's granddaughter, he will surely want to throw a party for you, and you'll need some accessories. Pick whatever you like."

Nodding, Evelyn eyed a diamond necklace and asked the attendant to take it out for her to try on.
