Chapter 790 Take A Puff

“This is the only hobby I have left. Are you really going to deprive me of it? I don't gamble, nor do I womanize. I just like to enjoy a cigarette sometimes.”

Skylar sighed and replied, “Forget it. I don't expect you to quit. Most of the filming crew smoke anyway. What makes it so addictive, though? The smell gives me a headache. Can I take a puff on your cigarette?”

The woman was just joking and was expecting Tobias to reject her, citing reasons like women should not smoke.

After all, most men seemed to prefer a girl next door who abstained from smoking and alcohol.

As such, she was surprised by what Tobias did next. Holding the cigarette between his slender fingers, he put the cigarette next to her mouth, he said, “Try?”

The man was so close to Skylar's face that they were almost skin to skin, and Skylar could not help but grimace at the overwhelming pungent scent of tobacco.

Tobias was used to smoking Nat Sherman cigarettes. Sometimes, Skylar would crush the burst beads in Tobias' cigarette before passing it to him.

Skylar looked up at Tobias and said in disbelief, “You're going to let me try? Isn't it bad for women to smoke?”

“You're the one who said you wanted to try! One puff wouldn't hurt. There aren't really any harmful substances in there anyway.”

Skylar inhaled once out of curiosity. Right away, she felt dizzy and started coughing so violently that tears streamed out of her eyes.

Seeing that, Tobias quickly passed her a bottle of water. Feeling amused at Skylar's reaction, he said, “You're such a good girl. Since you have never smoked, you should just keep it that way. Knowing what it tastes like is enough.”

At that moment, Skylar thought of Amelia. She had promised Amelia that she would not tell anyone about what happened. Besides, given Tobias' sensitive position, if he found out that Amelia had taken drugs, he would surely get Valerie to fire her.

Even though Skylar would have a much easier time at work without Amelia around, she still chose not to say anything as she did not want to take advantage of someone else's misfortune.

Knitting her brows in frustration, the woman said, “What's so great about smoking? It tastes so gross. I really don't understand what you like about it.”

Tobias put the cigarette back into his mouth and left a teeth mark on the cigarette stub before saying, “Not everyone can appreciate the goodness of it. Stop spouting so much nonsense. Go wash up and get ready for bed. Otherwise, you're going to have a hard time getting out of bed again tomorrow.”

Skylar dragged her feet into the bathroom and placed her phone on the sink countertop while she took off her clothes. Just then, her phone lit up with a message from Molly.

Skylar had already undressed when she read the text. With her bare skin fully exposed, she could not help but shiver uncontrollably when she saw the contents of the message.

It was a picture of her mother and Molly's father. The two of them appeared to be on a date.

The couple seemed to be behaving very intimately, having their arms around each other as they walked, even though they were no longer teenagers.

Molly's message read: Shouldn't you apologize to me? It's ridiculous that my parents are divorcing at their age! This is all because of your mom. If the matter is exposed, your mom will be berated by the public for sure.

She replied: I haven't gotten a chance to ask my mom about it yet. I will find out what's going on and give you an explanation. If it's really her fault, I will make sure she leaves him.

Skylar tightened her grip around her phone, feeling worried about the next steps Miranda might take. She was sure that her mother would not listen to her.

Tobias was wondering why Skylar was taking such a long time in the bathroom when the doorbell rang. He assumed that it was Penelope and walked over to open the door while dressed in the hotel's bathrobe.

It was Susan standing at the door.

She felt bad for disturbing Tobias that late at night, but she had no choice as she had urgent work matters to discuss with him.

The secretary remained standing outside the room as she said, “Mr. Ford, Mr. Chadwick had informed us that he would be flying to Spaunia two days later. The next time he's back would be two months later. Shall I cancel your golf session?”

Since Skylar had already confirmed that she would be leaving early tomorrow morning, there was no longer a need for Tobias to change his schedule for her.

As such, he decided to stick to the earlier plan and free up the time that he was originally going to spend with Skylar.
