Chapter 198 They Finally Get on the Phone

"Shawn, where are you going?"

"The wounds on your body haven't healed yet. Shawn, slow down."

Seeing Shawn striding out of the ward, Lilian immediately wheeled her chair to follow him.

On the other side.

Norah was frantic.

She called Shawn five more times, but no one answered.

She put the phone down in dismay. She had a look of worry and loss on her face.

Vivian took one look at Norah's expression and figured it out. "Still no one answering the phone?"

"Yeah." Norah nodded, devastated.

She was now in a state of confusion and panic.

"Vivian, it's been two days. No one's answering the phone. And he hasn't responded to Instagram

messages or texts. Do you think something happened to him?"

Once Norah had that suspicion, she became even more anxious.

And the more she thought about it, the more panicked she became. She couldn't calm down at all.

"He's always been very mature. He's also very serious about his work, so he wouldn't have

disappeared for so long for no reason."

"Have you been in touch with anyone else who was close to him? Or has Shawn contacted anyone

else?" Vivian reminded her.

"I spoke to Anthony, but Anthony said he couldn't get in touch with Shawn either, and I'm even more

afraid to ask his parents. I'm afraid that if something does happen to him, his parents won't be able to

take it. And things will get worse."

"I can't do it. Vivian, I can't just sit here and wait any longer. I'm leaving the country. I'm going to find

him."

Norah said as she was about to get up, go pack her luggage, and leave the country.

Vivian put her hand on Norah's shoulder and tried to calm Norah down.

"Okay. Okay. Okay. Norah, don't rush. If you are impulsive, it won't solve anything. Let's sort it out

again. When did you lose contact with Shawn? Was there anything unusual about him at the time?"

Norah tried desperately to recall.

Then, she replied, "It was two days ago in the afternoon. He made a video call and tried to comfort me

after he found out I was being harassed by Dean Broser. We had a nice chat. Then, I couldn't reach

him after I woke up from sleep."

Vivian froze when she thought of something.

It turned out she was the last person Shawn had been in contact with that night.

She somehow instantly remembered the knock on Shawn's room door and the words he had said on

the phone then.

"Why are you here again?"

Who exactly was the person Shawn was talking to back then?

At that moment, Vivian felt like things were a mess and completely could not figure it out.

Vivian had a bad feeling when she thought about the knock on the door that night.

Moreover, she didn't dare to tell Norah about it.

If Norah found out, she would be even more anxious and confused.

Vivian never wanted to see Norah like that.

"Norah, calm down. I'm going to call Ivan. I'll ask him again. I'm sure he can think of more ways than

we can."

"Alright."

After helping Norah sit down on the couch, Vivian called Ivan.

"You guys haven't found him yet?" Ivan was also surprised.

Yesterday, Vivian had asked him about Shawn.

Ivan had called Shawn then too, but there was no answer.

However, when he thought about how they sometimes had to deal with difficult clients and contracts, it

was normal for them to spend a day or a dozen hours.

If there was some confidential information involved, it was normal for them to block all signals during

the negotiations.

So, Ivan didn't take it to heart.

However, when Ivan now learned that Shawn was still out of touch, he realized the gravity of the

problem.

"Alright. You tell Norah to wait. I'll have someone check on Shawn right away."

"Well, hurry up. Norah is anxious as hell."

After hanging up the phone, Ivan called Shawn back.

Originally, he expected no one to answer or his phone to be turned off.

However, Ivan didn't expect the call to be answered as soon as he made a phone call to Shawn.

"Norah and Vivian said you were missing, and Norah was looking for you like crazy." Ivan blurted it out.

"Something's happened. I've just been able to get through on my mobile. I'll call Norah right back."

"Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Shawn immediately went to put on the white shirt he had just borrowed

from the hospital.

He had too many bandages on him, so his hands weren't quite ready. He was very slow in putting the

shirt on.

Shawn couldn't stand him being so slow in getting dressed.

He had to call Norah back as soon as possible. Otherwise, she would be even more anxious.

Shawn's heart ached at the thought of her being agitated.

Next to him, Lilian finally couldn't look at this. Then, she took the initiative and said, "Shawn, it's better if

I put it on for you."

When Shawn got his shirt back, Lilian had already offered to help him put it on, but Shawn refused her.

Now, she just couldn't sit by and watch. He'd overexerted himself in the shirt to the point where he'd

quickly wrenched some of the bandages apart. And the wound had split. Some red blood seeped out

through the white bandage.

The red blood was really shocking to the eye.

Although he had suffered a non-fatal superficial wound, after all, he was badly injured. He had to rest Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

well to recover.

"No need. I can do it myself." Shawn refused again.

This time, Lilian was insistent. Then, she wheeled and stopped in front of Shawn. She raised her head,

looked up at him, and said, "I know the reason you wanted to put your shirt on was because you didn't

want Norah to see that you were injured. You didn't want her to worry."

"But you're already bleeding from the bandages. If you keep pushing, even with your shirt on, the blood

will seep out. She'll still see it. You'll have wasted your effort."

"Don't worry. I'm just putting on a shirt for you. I'm not going to get carried away."

Hearing her say that, Shawn calmed down.

He reached out and handed Lilian the shirt in his hand.

"You sit on the chair," said Lilian.

With her help, Shawn quickly had his white shirt on.

Since he had bandages all over his body, his shirt couldn't be that neat. Thanks to his good shape,

even when he looked at himself on his phone, he couldn't see any significant difference from before.

Then, he straightened and checked his shirt again. Immediately, he called Norah back.

Shawn hadn't made the video call because he was still afraid that Norah would find out. Thus, he

thought it would be safer to make a voice call with Norah

After all, they hadn't seen each other for two days, and Norah would have wanted to see his face. In

case Norah offered to make a video call to him, Shawn had prepared and was ready to switch to a

video call.

On the other side, Norah couldn't believe her eyes when she saw Shawn's call.

With the phone in her hand, she almost thought she was dreaming.

"Vivian, it's Shawn. He's... He's calling." Norah's voice shook violently as she looked at the Caller ID on

her phone.

Vivian was quick enough to react. Immediately, she said, "Answer it. Why aren't you answering the

phone?"

"I was afraid. I'm afraid it's just someone using his phone, and it's not him."

She was more afraid that the call would be to inform her of bad news.

Vivian could understand exactly how Norah felt.

If someone had been missing for several days, as the family members received the call, it was usually

not the missing person but the police who called to claim the body.

Norah must have been afraid to hear such news.

When one was desperate for something, one would be cautious and afraid of losing it.

The phone kept ringing.

Taking a deep breath, Norah picked up the phone.

Before answering, she prayed desperately in her heart. "Shawn, it's you. It has to be you. You have to

be safe!"

Holding a mobile phone in her trembling hand, Norah held her breath as she slid to answer the phone

call and put the phone to her ear.
