FALLING FOR A HEARTLESS BETA

CHAPTER 41

Amber’s POV

As I returned to Clayland, I felt a deep sense of sadness and heartbreak. The memories of Dale’s latest betrayal in his vacation house lingered in my mind, and I struggled to find solace in the familiar surroundings of my home.

Despite my pain, I threw myself into decorating the residence, determined to create a space that was both beautiful and comforting even to someone like me. I spent long hours picking out furniture, choosing color schemes, and hanging artwork on the walls.

While redecorating my home, I found the process of creating something new and beautiful was therapeutic. It gave me a sense of purpose and control, which I badly needed in the aftermath of Dale’s betrayal.

Gradually, the residence began to transform into a space that was uniquely mine.  The walls were painted in warm, inviting colors, and the furniture was arranged in a way that made the rooms feel cozy and inviting.

With each passing day, I felt myself growing stronger and more confident. Fortunately, Tom extended his business trip to Claybourne and I had the place all to myself. I knew that the wounds of my heartbreak would take time to heal but I was determined to move forward and create a life for myself that was filled with joy and love.

Having a huge manor in the countryside helped me to become confident. People respected her because of her status and she liked it. In Clayland, she was not just an omega, born to be a servant or a whore to an Alpha.

As I looked around at the beautiful home I had created, I knew that I was on the right path. No matter what the future held, I was ready to face it with strength, grace, and a heart that was full of hope.

However, one day, a maid named Bethany arrived in Clayland, and I suspected that Dale sent her to spy on me, or to monitor my daily activities. One day, my mother-in-law invited me to her place to have dinner with the family.

As soon as I arrived at my mother-in-law’s house, she greeted me with a warm smile and a tight embrace.

“Welcome, my dear,” she said, “it’s been too long since we’ve seen each other.”

I returned the embrace and smiled back, feeling a bit nervous but also grateful for her warm welcome.

“Thank you for having me,” I said, “it’s good to be here.”

As we settled down in the living room, my mother-in-law poured us some tea and we began to catch up. She asked me how things were going at home, and I told her about how I redecorated the entire manor to kill the time while my husband was away. Then, she asked me about my marriage to Tom and how things were between us. I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to share, but then decided to be honest.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“I have to admit, things have been a bit rocky between Tom and me,” I said, “but we’re working on it and trying to make things better.”

My mother-in-law listened attentively, then gave me some wise advice based on her own experience. We talked for hours, and by the end of the conversation, I felt like I had gained a new understanding of my husband and our relationship. Of course, everything was superficial. I couldn’t be totally honest with her.

“By the way, I heard you have a new maid. What can you tell me about her?”

“Ah, yes. Bethany. She’s a good worker, very diligent and efficient. Jacob sent her here to learn a few things. She’s been with us for a week now, and so far, she’s been doing an excellent job.”

“That’s good to hear. I haven’t had the chance to meet her yet. Do you think she’ll be able to handle the workload here?”

“Oh, definitely. She has a lot of experience, and she’s very hardworking. I’m sure she’ll be a valuable addition to our household staff.”

“I’m looking forward to meeting her. By the way, do you know anything else about her? Like her background or where she’s from?”

“Not much, really. She’s a private person, and I don’t like to pry into my employees’ personal lives. But from what I gather, she’s a good person, and that’s all that matters.”

“I see. Well, thank you for telling me about her. I’ll make sure to introduce myself to her soon.”

Speaking of the devil, a young woman walked toward us with a bright smile. I couldn’t help but notice how stunning she looked. Her hair was neatly styled, and her makeup was flawlessly done. She wore a fitted dress that showed off her curves, and her high heels made her even taller.

“Good morning, Madame,” she greeted me with a curtsy as if she was mocking me.

“You must be, Bethany. You look lovely today,” I replied, unable to hide my admiration.

“Thank you, Miss Amber. Is there anything I can assist you with?” she asked with a smile.

“No, thank you. I was just having a chat with my mother-in-law here,” I replied, gesturing towards my mother-in-law.

“I see. Well, I’m here if you need anything,” she said before excusing herself.

As she walked away, I couldn’t help but feel a little envious of her beauty and elegance.

“She’s pretty,” I remarked, and my mother-in-law nodded.

I couldn’t shake off the feeling that Bethany was not just an ordinary maid. I was too observant for my own good, and I was suspicious about Bethany. To know more about the maid, I decided to invite her to my place for tea.

As Bethany gracefully accepted my invitation, I couldn’t help but admire her poise and elegance as she walked towards the tea table. I offered her a seat and poured a cup of tea for her.

“So, Bethany, tell me about yourself,” I said, trying to make small talk.

Bethany smiled and began to share her story. She spoke about her life before coming to Clayland and how she ended up working as a maid. I listened intently, finding myself drawn to Bethany’s gentle voice and warm personality.

As we continued to chat, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of kinship with Bethany. I couldn’t see that the woman had a kind heart and a strong will, just like me. In a way, I felt like we were kindred spirits.

As we finished our tea, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for this chance encounter. I had made a new friend, and I couldn’t wait to know Bethany better.

Still, I couldn’t help but feel suspicious of Bethany’s presence, so I decided to confront her. We were alone in the drawing room, and I asked her if she was sent by Dale to spy on me.

“Bethany, I have to ask you something. Were you sent here by Dale to spy on me?” I asked and she was surprised.
