Chapter 35
Valerie’s Pov
My eyes opened slowly and I quickly sat upright, such a terrible dream I had.
It felt so real too, Thank goodness nothing of that sort happened.
“Hey there little rabbit” It was Carson again. He was leaning on the door with his arms folded. Why is he always here when I open my eyes?
“My head hurts, and I had the most terrible dream” I held my head while I tried to recollect exactly what happened.
“What was the dream about?” Carson asked.
“We drove out and you shot someone” I tried to narrate how it was to him.
“You must have hit your head pretty hard when you fell,” Carson said, I hit my head? How? I thought to myself
“How did I get here again?” I asked, I had no memories of being brought back to this room, I mean why would I? I must have been unconscious.
“We had to drive back immediately you fell, try to remain on the bed for now okay?” Carson said.
“Drive back?, Hold on a minute, it…it wasn’t a dream?” I said with tears already forming in my eyes.
“It wasn’t,” He said with a blank expression on his face.
What sort of a devil is he? How could he just take a life without thinking twice, He made me witness such atrocity
That poor girl died because of me, He took her whole future away from her because of a silly mistake?
Her blood is on my hands, Is this how he shows love? I was disgusted, I kept crying and buried my face in my palms and he came closer to me and put his hands over my shoulder.
“It had to be done” I looked up at him and pushed his hand away from my shoulder.
“Do not touch me, you are a monster” I said in anger, I wanted to slap him so badly.
“She needed to be punished” Carson continued to justify the murder he had just committed.
“How could you just kill a person? Don’t you have any regard for human life” I questioned him, I couldn’t help but feel guilty of her death, I knew I was to be blamed.
“It wasn’t my intention for you to see what I did today, I never wanted you to follow me, You insisted,” Carson said
“I never knew you were going to kill her,” I said
“She had it coming, I will do anything to protect you,” He said while staring point blank into my eyes, He is insane, This is too much for me, I have only stayed here for a few days and it had been the worst days of my life, Out of all things this has to be the worst thing I’ve witnessed, I witnessed murder, To think she held my leg and pleaded for this not to happen. It ached my heart.
“Anything, including taking another person’s life?” I asked while cleaning my tears.
“Anything at all, I will never let any harm befall you” I am certain Carson is a crazy person. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“This did not make me fall in love with you, You are only pushing me away by doing things like this,” I said
“Sooner or later you will be running into my arms,” He said with a low voice. He makes me sick. If I had another escape route I would most definitely run away again.
“I hate you, you are just a terrible person,” I said
“Oh I am a terrible person but you don’t hate me, you are just upset,” Carson said, His eyes were captivating and scary at the same time.
“I do mean it” He let out a mischievous smile
“I will leave now, You have your dinner and freshen up and then Janet will bring you to me” Carson walked to the door before I stopped him
“What do you want to do with me?” I questioned, I didn’t want my fate to end up like that of Yemora, I did not know what he was capable of, and I had to be extra careful while dealing with this strange man.
“You will see” Carson left me with so many questions running through my mind, that I was skeptical about going to meet him but then again, I had no choice whatsoever.
I had my dinner and freshened up, I didn’t want to ask Janet any questions. She already went through so much because of me. If I was in her shoes I would have left already, or maybe she just didn’t have anywhere else to go.
We met up with Carson in front of the very same Art gallery where I had fainted, He dismissed Janet and once we were alone, He asked.
“Give me your hand and close your eyes little rabbit” He looked at me with a smile on his face, I didn’t trust him enough to close my eyes, I had just seen him murder someone today, and I was not about to take any risks with this man, What was he up to?
“No, I won’t close my eyes and I can walk just fine and I told you to stop calling me a little rabbit,” I said
“You will spoil the surprise,” Carson said.
“I won’t shut my eyes” I stood firm, my eyes were wide open
“Fine, If you insist” He went nearer to the door and pushed it open, and I was left speechless.
Carson had transformed the art gallery with glimmering lights and slow soothing music. It was a mesmerizing sight, unlike anything you had seen before. It had a snug and comforting ambiance, It created a magical atmosphere.
“What is this?” I remained impressed by the art gallery
“It is my way of apologizing,” Carson said, Of course, it wouldn’t make up for the life he took but it was truly a beautiful sight.
He went on to give me a private tour. He showed me amazing paintings. We got to a particular painting that caught my eyes instantly, I didn’t want to stop staring and when I turned to look at Carson I saw how deep he looked into the picture. It probably meant something to him.
“This was painted by my mother,” Carson said, I hadn’t heard him speaking about his mother before, I moved closer and saw the initials ‘RL’
“RL?” I asked
“Roseline, That was her name” Carson continued looking at the painting.
“Such a lovely name, where is she?” I asked
“Let’s move on now” He ignored my question but I insisted
“Carson I asked a question” I spoke up
“Don’t worry about that” He said trying to remain calm
“But you can just tell me-” I continued to push for an answer before I was cut off
“It shouldn’t concern you!” Carson yelled at me
“I was only asking a question” I reminded him
He started moving closer to me and I was moving back. He had an angry look on his face and I wanted to leave the art gallery as soon as possible, I kept moving back till my back hit the wall.
