I nearly lost my balance, I couldn’t imagine the kind of pain she must have gone through, The pain must have been so excruciating.

“Kill her?” Benson chipped in and with a shocked expression on his face, he turned and looked in my direction. He was expecting a reaction but I had to maintain my composure so the doctor wouldn’t think much about the situation at hand.

“Yes kill her, In fact, if I had arrived a few minutes later than I did then it would have been fatal for her” The doctor revealed, The anger in my body knew no bounds, I was ready to explode but I had to keep my anger in check, I maintained my calm composure and looked at the unconscious girl who I loved so much lying helplessly on the bed, Whoever did this to her will surely pay, I looked back at the doctor

“Will she be okay?” That’s the only thing I wanted to know at the moment. I just wanted her to be okay and well, She had already gone through so much and it hadn’t even been a week since she got here. I don’t want her to go through any more pain and suffering just because of me.

“Yes she will be, I have given her some medication she will regain consciousness shortly” The doctor reassured

“Thanks, doctor, Let me show you the way out,” Benson said while escorting the doctor out of the room, I walked up to where Valerie lay quietly I gently used my finger to graze her cheeks And carefully ran my fingers down her hair, She looked so beautiful even in her sleep, I can never fathom how one can look so beautiful, I didn’t know it was humanly possible to be this alluring.

I took a chair and sat close to her, I didn’t want to leave her side, I didn’t want her to wake up to an empty room, I was too scared to leave her side, I wanted to know if she would be okay, Mr. Longe had a hand in this, I have many ways to make him pay quickly but I want him to suffer and beg for mercy and forgiveness, I want him to supplicate before me, I will make sure of that but before then I have to deal with the person that thought it was wise to come into my house and hurt my Valerie in such a way, Even if it was a scratch on her body, The person would’ve paid heavily but to go as far as to poison her to kill her, That was the height of it, To say punishment would be an understatement.

I heard a low grunt sound, It was Valerie, she was finally waking up.

“How do you feel?” I asked looking her directly in the eyes

“I feel terrible, What happened?” Valerie asked

“You were poisoned,” I tried to give her the information she needed, but I couldn’t hide my displeasure.

“Poisoned?” Valerie said with confusion, She tried to get up and I could see how uncomfortable she was, She lost balance and I rushed to her side.

“Rest up now, don’t get up” I laid her head on the pillow.

“I was poisoned?” Valerie asked again, And the more she asked the more I felt unhappy and eager to catch the culprit.

“Yes, As a matter of fact, you nearly died,” I said and without much thought, I slammed my hand against the table, I let this happen to her…

“You brought me here to kill me?” Valerie asked, but I could understand her plight, I would be mad too if unfortunate events kept happening to me.

“Of course not, Don’t be silly,” I Saadi turning my face away from her. How could I face her?

“Who tried to poison me?” Valerie asked curiously

“I do not know,” I said

“Why?” Valerie asked again

“I. do. not. know” I replied feeling unhappy about the situation. We spoke and she felt devastated and blamed me for her situation and frankly speaking I couldn’t blame her

“I need you to answer these questions carefully, can you do that for me?” I said in a low voice speaking subtly, I felt sad about the events that had played out, I won’t rest till the perpetrator is found.

“What would you like to know?” Valerie asked

“I was told you ate soup yesterday, correct?” I asked, yesterday. She had a puzzled look on her face before she answered.

“Yes, but it wasn’t any allergic reaction” Vaelrie reaffirmed.

“I know, Do you suspect anyone?” I asked.

“Not even your personal maid?” I asked, I trusted no one, Everyone was a culprit.

“No, she wouldn’t do such” Valerie tried to wave off my question

“You seem to trust her, that’s unwise,” I said. Why would she trust someone she just met? No one will be spared, I don’t care who it is, As long as the person could harm my Valerie, I won’t have mercy.

“I don’t trust her, I’m just a good judge of character” Valerie replied back

“Very well then, Aside Janet do you have anyone else who comes close to you” I asked myself with a serious face,

“No just Janet” Valerie answered, She groaned because the pain was already coming back.

“I will leave you to rest, I will be here if you need anything” I walked towards her and pulled the blanket over her before I left the room. Immediately I left the room I saw Benson waiting outside for me. He knew I would want to move fast.

“Benson, take all the workers in the mansion in for questioning, The person can’t get away with this” I will not spare the person.
