Chapter 50
“She’s leaving this Earth, Vanessa, and you’re going to witness it!”
His words sliced through the air like a knife, freezing me in place. At first, I thought it was some sick joke, a twisted attempt to instill fear in me. But when I glanced into the eyes of the man holding the gun, the grim determination etched on his face erased any doubt. He wasn’t joking. He was deadly serious, hungry for his next victim.
“You can’t do this, Nathaniel!” I protested, my body squirming in his iron grip, desperate to break free.
“Tm going to do this, Vanessa,” he replied, his voice dripping with chilling certainty.
“Vanessa, please, save me!” Clara’s desperate plea pierced the air, wrenching at my heartstrings.
In an instant, I whirled around, my fingers curling into fists as I seized Nathaniel by the collar, my nails digging into his
flesh.
“You brought me here.” I seethed, my voice trembling with anger and disbelief. “You wanted me. Why are you still intent on killing her?”
I shook him with all the strength I could muster, my hands trembling with fear and rage..
“Because she can reveal this to the world and it will become a threat to me and my work,” Nathaniel replied, his voice laced
with dark amusement as he chuckled.
“She won’t say anything, I promise you. Just let her go,” I pleaded, desperation seeping into my voice as I fought to save Clara from a fate she didn’t deserve.
I could still hear the painful and fearful cries of Clara that was breaking my heart into pieces. She doesn’t deserve it

My heart sank like a stone as I realized the true extent of the danger we were in. They were all waiting for Nathaniel’s command to spill innocent blood, their thirst for violence was quite evident in their voice.
“Please, Nathaniel,” I begged, my voice cracking with emotion. “If you must take a life, take mine. Spare her, she is innocent.”
“Oh, no Senorita. You are my lifeline. Killing you means killing myself. I can’t take your life” he murmured, sinister glint still shining in his eyes “I was shattered when you left me on our wedding day. I want you to feel the same. I want you to know the pain of watching the person you love walk away”
His
eyes flicked up to Clara, a smile spreading at the corner of his lips. He opened his mouth to order his men but before he could say anything I interrupted,
“Please Nathaniel, it was my mistake. Please” thick tears streamed down my eyes.
The only right thing that I have done in my entire life is leaving him on our wedding day. But now, faced with the imminent threat to Clara’s life, I was willing to do whatever it took to save her.
Just let her go,” I implored, my voice barely above a whisper as I met Nathaniel’s gaze head–on. “For the sake of the love you once claimed to feel”
He stare deep into my eyes. Something passing through his orbs.
“Not once but I still love you, Senorita. It is just you who always failed to see it he murmured “you never wanted to come closer before marriage and that was the reason I kept my distance but fall into the trap of your sister”
My eyes closed and I tried my best not to rethink about that night again.
“Please, for the sake of what we once had, leave her,” I pleaded, my voice trembling with emotion
I stared deep into his eyes, looking for this decision. I know everything is dependent on him. I his men alone.

I heard him.
“But sir, she could pose threat to us. Why are you doing this?” One of his men asked.
Without lifting his gaze from me, he held my chin in between his fingers, his eyes looking deep into mine.
“In love, people willingly sacrifice their lives, but here I am, still sparing someone else’s life.”
My eyes blinked, breaking the contact we had.
Track her phone and guide her home, 24/7. Kill her at the spot if she tries to share our information to anyone.” He ordered.
Limmediately turned around to look at Clara
“Clara, you need to stay quiet for now,” I whispered urgently, my voice trembling with fear and urgency. “I’ll this. I promise. But for now, you need to take care of yourself.”
Her eyes brimmed with tears, but she nodded in silent agreement.

With one arm wrapped around my shoulder, Nathaniel guided me forward, his touch sending a shiver down my spine as I fought to keep my composure. My eyes darted around the dimly lit cottage, searching for any sign of escape that I could use later. The walls seemed to close in around me, suffocating me with their musty scent and peeling paint.
The cottage appeared old and unkempt, a testament to its isolated desert location. It was clear that this place was meant to remain hidden from prying eyes, a sanctuary for his darkest deeds. As we moved further into the depths of the cottage. I couldn’t shake the feeling of dread that gnawed at my insides.
He led me to a dimly lit corridor, and we entered a secluded room. As I stepped inside, my eyes widened a bit as the room was quite opposite the cottage. It was well maintained with all new kind of furniture and equipments. Despite its beauty, however, the room felt repulsive and dark, much like Nathaniel himself,

Nathaniel turned to face me, his expression unreadable as he studied me with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine. “Sit,” he commanded, gesturing to a worn chair in the corner of the room.
I hesitated for a moment, the urge to defy him warring with the knowledge that I was at his mercy. Clara was still under his control and he could do anything to her. I know Clara is very clever, she will definitely figure out some way but I need to be patient for her to reach home and recover from this trauma
With a resigned sigh, I sank into the chair, my heart pounding in my chest as I waited for whatever was to come.
Nathaniel remained standing, his gaze fixed on me as he paced the length of the room, his footsteps echoing in the silence.
“You never understood, Vanessa,” he murmured, his voice low and tinged with bitterness. “You never saw the sacrifices I made for you, the lengths I went to in order to win your love. I have easily got Oliver if I wanted but she was never my type I fall in love with you at first sight and always wanted to spend the rest of my life with you and only you”
The memories of our past flooded back. The only person who was real in the relationship was me. He was completely fake. But before I could respond, Nathaniel continued, his voice growing more impassioned with each word.
“I loved you, Vanessa. More than anything in this world, he confessed, his tone raw with emotion. “But you were always so blind to it, so focused on your own desires that you never thought about my needs and that was the reason that I had to go to Oliver. You didn’t give me chance to even clarify myself”

me only to push me aside once he gets bored.
“You loved me?” I scoffed bitterly, the words tumbling from my lips before I could stop them. “Is that what you call it? Manipulating me into marrying you, lying to me at every turn, and then betraying me with my own sister? If that’s love, then I want no part of it.”
Nathaniel’s face darkened with rage, his fists clenching at his sides as he advanced towards me, his voice dripping with
venom.
“You ran away from me, Vanessa. You abandoned me at the wedding aisle”
“I ran away because you betrayed me,” I shot back, my own anger rising to meet his. “You betrayed my trust, you betrayed our marriage, and worst of all, you betrayed me with someone I thought I could trust.”
As I looked into his eyes, I saw only the cold, calculating the gaze of a man consumed by his own bitterness and resentment. I knew that whatever shred of humanity had once existed within him had long since been extinguished by the darkness that lurked within his soul.
My head started spinning even more badly because of the rush of emotions that I was feeling.
My breath caught in my throat when his hand lifted up and he touched my face with the tip of his finger, something devilish dancing in his eyes and his intentions became quite clear with his next words.
“It’s fine. No matter what happened, at the moment you are with me and now I could do all those things that I imagined”
