Chapter 41
Chapter 41
Meanwhile, Alice was removing all her disguise. The one on her face was removed, leaving only her hands.
She then dipped all ten of her fingers into a specially formulated liquid. After a while, a thin, transparent membrane began to peel away from each of her fingers.
No matter which identity she used, whether it was Tanner West or another identity, just like what happened today, Alice Woland’s fingerprints could never be found anywhere.
She would cover her fingers with an extremely thin membrane every time.
This was her master’s most formidable skill. Such a membrane was inherently thin, which made it difficult to be detected after it became completely attached to the skin. Its details were even more impressive.
It did not cover even an inch of the nails. Its edges completely fit into the gaps between the nails and became thinner and thinner as it moved down the inner side of the fingers, eventually fusing with the first joint’s crease.
Nothing could be seen, even with a magnifying glass, and of course, nothing could be felt when touched. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Alice’s birthday banquet seven years ago was organized by Sophia. Hence, she was wary about what might happen and had been wearing such membranes on her fingers since then.
As such, no matter what she touched that day, including the handcuff she used to cuff that man that night, none of her fingerprints would remain.
Just as Alice was immersed in her thoughts, her phone rang.
She took a glance at it and a tinge of coldness arose in her eyes. “It’s from the Wolands.”
The caller ID displayed on the phone was a landline number she was very familiar with. It was the phone number for her house. To be exact, it was the landline number of the house she used to live in when her parents were still alive.
His father had purchased that villa for their family. It was her home, along with her parents’ and brother’s home.
However, Charles and Sophia both moved in after Alice’s parents died seven years ago.
Her uncle and aunt have been regular visitors since then. They had completely taken over the house.
This was the first time in seven years the Wolands had called her.
Alice found it ironic as she, of course, knew the reason for the call.
“They must be calling because of the Woland Group,” Archie remarked, sneering. “They knew you didn’t marry Bruce, which is why they’re now eyeing the Woland Group. They’re a ridiculous bunch, aren’t they? They took over the Glenn Group forcibly seven years ago, and now they’re attempting to take over the Woland Group as well.”
Even without Archie’s words, Alice knew what the Wolands were thinking of. She then answered the call and put it on speaker.
“Alice, I heard that your wedding did not go on today. Come back home; we can discuss everything together as a family.” The voice on the other end of the line was mechanical and stiff, and Alice recognised it right away as Sophia’s.
Possibly fearful that Alice would refuse, Sophia continued to persuade, “I’ve been telling you for a long time that the Yeagers can’t be trusted. Only our own family—”
“Okay,” Alice interrupted Sophia immediately, but she was chuckling coldly deep down. My own family harmed me the most.
Perhaps they think that since I didn’t get married into the Yeager Family, they can easily hoax me into handing over the Woland Group to them.
Well, dream on!
“Are you really going back?” Archie furrowed his brows after Alice ended the call. “The Wolands will go to any lengths for their own interests. For the last seven years, they have sent someone to kill you on multiple occasions. Will there be any trouble if you go back now? Furthermore, our plan was to begin with the Yeagers.”
“Since my grandma has called, of course I’ve to go back.” With a smile, Alice went on, “But I’m not going back for nothing; I’ll have to charge some travel fees and interest. I’ll let them know that it’s easy to summon me over, but not that easy to dismiss me.”
Whatever the Wolands had in mind, Alice was not afraid of them. She returned at this point seven years later in order to exact vengeance on behalf of her parents. As a result, no matter what happened, she would not back down.
In the end, the Wolands would be the ones to rue their actions!
Meanwhile, Emma was arrogantly smiling in the Woland Residence’s living room. “We can proceed with our plan as long as Alice agrees to return. This time, we must let her hand over the Woland Group to us obediently. We must also completely destroy her reputation.”
Emma’s trap was so formidable that no intelligent person, let alone Alice, who Emma thought was dumb, could escape unscathed.
Emma was determined to destroy Alice this time.
“My daughter is indeed clever.” Elijah laughed as he continued, “This is a perfect idea! Alice will definitely be screwed today. I’ll make the necessary arrangements right now. This time, nothing will go wrong.”
When Alice reached the Woland Residence, she let out a cold sneer in her heart as she saw how crowded the living room was. Everyone is here. Good for them…
Sophia, on the other hand, swept a glance at Alice with a displeased expression and spoke immediately. “You returned just in time. Hand over the Woland Group to your Uncle Elijah now.”
Amelia chipped in impatiently, “That’s right, Alice. The Woland Group should be given to your Uncle Elijah in the first place.”
“Listen to your grandma, Alice. Hand over it to Elijah now,” Bethany quickly added as well, as she was afraid she would lose out if she didn’t intervene now.
Alice, however, nearly burst out laughing when she heard that. These people are just so shameless. Are they really trying to forcibly take the Woland Group from me?!
She then ignored the rest, stared straight at Sophia and questioned, “Why should I hand the Woland Group to Uncle Elijah? Give me one good reason, Grandma.”
“That belongs to the Woland Family. Since your father is no longer around, it naturally belongs to your Uncle Elijah,” Sophia replied, as if everything she said was the absolute truth.
All of the Wolands, including Sophia, seemed to have forgotten that Lucas established the Woland Group from scratch by himself. At the time, the rest of the Wolands were still living off of their agricultural crops in the countryside.
All they did was to ask for money from Lucas without providing any assistance.
In fact, the Woland Group grew and became more established with the help of the Glenn Family after Lucas married Sienna, who was the Glenn Family’s princess.
In short, the Woland Group had absolutely nothing to do with the people in front of Alice right now.
Looking at Sophia, who was sitting firmly on an armchair and acting as if she could rule the world, Alice found everything amusing.
When her parents died seven years ago and her brother was nowhere to be found, the Wolands did not appear to be sad. All they could think about was how to take over Lucas’ company.
Now, they were eyeing her company as well.
How ridiculous and ironic their behavior was!
“The Yeagers devised a scheme to harm me; do you know who revealed my birthmark, Grandma?” Alice had her suspicions about what happened at the wedding, and now she was giving Sophia an opportunity to explain.
However, when Sophia heard Alice’s words, a panicked expression appeared on her face.
Seeing that, Alice narrowed her eyes, coldness spreading within her gaze.
Everything seemed clear to her now.
Is she really my grandmother? She conspires with the outsiders to harm me just for the sake of money and her personal interests!
