Chapter 134
Chapter 134
“Alice, I know you’re usually rather impulsive and unruly, but I never thought that you would have the guts to kill someone. I can’t stand on your side since you did this. Call the police,” Elijah said righteously as if the fact that Alice was family couldn’t stop him from ensuring that justice was served.
Someone in the crowd gasped. Considering the situation, Alice couldn’t defend herself even if she wasn’t the one who did it.
There was only one ending to this and it would be Alice going to jail if they called the police since the victim was accusing her and Alice’s fingerprints were on the knife.
Irvin was fuming. He was certain that it was Emma, that disgusting thing, who framed Alice for attempted murder.
The current situation was extremely unfavorable for Alice. If they couldn’t show proof of her innocence, she had no way to get herself out of this. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
If the victim insisted that Alice was the culprit, Alice had no way to prove her innocence.
Irvin also guessed that these people who wanted to harm Alice would have destroyed the security footage. So, it would only be all for naught even if he insisted on checking the footage.
Where’s Ethan? Where the hell did he go to?
However, Irvin also knew that it was no use even if Ethan was there as there was no way to prove Alice’s innocence.
But he couldn’t just watch Alice get herself tossed into jail.
Right at that moment, Alice, who had been silent, suddenly moved.
She walked up to Ashley, who was still lying on the floor and glaring at her. “You said that I stabbed you?”
“Yes. You stabbed me. I was just talking for Miss Emma when you got angry and stabbed me.” It seemed like Ashley had her lines memorized very well. She didn’t even stutter for a second.
Alice smiled gently as her gaze landed on Ashley’s face neutrally. “I’m going to give you one more chance. Think before you speak. I suggest that you’d best avoid lying.”
Alice’s eyes were so calm and placid that one couldn’t see through her. Even her voice was light and gentle, there wasn’t a single fluctuation that hinted at anything other than serene. It was as if she was merely asking about the weather.
However, Ashley’s heart started thumping when she met Alice’s gaze and felt the blood in her veins freeze. At that moment, she felt guilt creeping up on her and couldn’t bring herself to continue on with the lie, “I-I—”
“Alice, you can’t scare her like that. Are you trying to force a confession from her?” Emma suddenly spoke up.
Then, Alice turned around as she raised her hand, and swung her hand toward Emma’s face.
Smack! A loud crisp sound rang across the room, and Emma stumbled backward. A red handprint instantly appeared on her fair face.
Alice didn’t pull her punches and gave it her all. It hurt just looking at it, but no one pitied Emma.
Alice was just asking the victim some questions and wasn’t doing anything else. Her voice and gaze were neutral and calm. There wasn’t an ounce of threat to it.
So, it didn’t seem like she was forcing a confession at all. Besides, Ashley wasn’t even done speaking.
Yet, Emma was strangely in a lot of a hurry to jump in to shove the blame on Alice. Frankly, it made her look suspicious.
“Serves you right.” Irvin wanted to cheer for Alice. Go, Alice! You’re the best! That disgusting woman deserves a beating!
“How dare you cut in when I’m speaking? Who do you think you are?” Alice threatened ruthlessly without any mercy. Even though her voice was far from loud, it was harsh.
If one thought about it carefully, Alice was right. Emma wasn’t even on Alice’s level at all. Alice would always come out on top if Emma decided to start competing against Alice over education, beauty, and lineage.
Alice was a pampered princess before the age of 18 and became the CEO of the Woland Group when she turned 18. Although there were plenty of negative rumors about her, Alice was still a winner in life.
What could Emma even bring to the table?
The Glenn Group that Elijah directed now once belonged to Alice’s grandfather, Howard Glenn. Elijah stole the company from them. Besides, Emma was nothing but Elijah’s illegitimate child.
So, if one were to compare the two, Alice was the princess while Emma was just the pauper. The pauper had no right to interrupt the princess when she was speaking.
Alice narrowed her eyes before striding out of the room toward the lounge Charles was in.
“Alice, you can’t walk away.” Elijah saw her moving and thought that she wanted to flee. So, he stood in front of her, blocking her way. “You hurt someone and slapped Emma. Where do you think you’re going? You—”
He couldn’t let her leave just like that when they had placed all their efforts into pulling this scheme off.
“Get out of my way,” Alice uttered lowly, but there was no hiding the commanding tone that no one dared to defy her.
Thus, Elijah reflexively stepped aside after hearing Alice’s words.
“What’s with that attitude? How dare you treat your elders like that? You brat,” Sophia cursed as she held onto her walking stick, fully showing everyone the mean and crass old lady that she was hiding behind a thin facade.
“That’s right. We’re your elders. Grandma’s standing here. How dare you misbehave like that? You were never polite. I wonder what your parents actually taught you,” Noah echoed Sophia’s words and reprimanded Alice as well.
“Alice, your Uncle Elijah means well. You made a mistake, so he’s just trying to teach you since your parents aren’t around anymore.” Amelia piped in as if she was a patient teacher who only wanted the best for Alice.
Nonetheless, Alice merely shot them a side glance. It was quick, but it was enough to stun the Wolands as they all fell silent and held their breaths.
It seemed like Alice’s gaze was the switch to turn off all their voices.
The scene looked comical and those surrounding them couldn’t help but huff in amusement.
On the other hand, Irvin stood in a daze and just stared at Alice, utterly oblivious to his surroundings.
Alice averted her gaze and continued to walk forward. This time, none of the Wolands dared to stop her or make a sound.
Her slender body moved slowly through the crowd, but the assertive aura she exuded seemed to warn people to stay away from her.
Everyone instinctively held their breaths. Nobody moved a muscle, nor did they speak. It was as if someone clicked on the pause button and Alice was the main character in the scene.
