Chapter 369
Quintessa's heart raced as she found her brakes failed, and the car door jammed? This was no coincidence, nor a mere oversight. Such a significant hazard going unnoticed could only mean one thing - someone had tampered with it intentionally.
Someone wanted her dead!
Unbuckling her seatbelt, Quintessa kicked at the car door with all her might. The car was sealed tight, and to make matters worse, it seemed like the fuel tank was leaking and spewing smoke that grew thicker by the second. If things continued this way, an explosion was inevitable.
Yet, Quintessa was calm, her mind was laser-focused on one thought - she could not die.
She had dodged too many bullets to die here. Her quest for revenge was only a third of the way through; her enemies were still alive, and so she must remain.
Pounding on the car door with desperation, Quintessa was determined to escape.
Manny rushed over, trying to pull the door open, only to find it immovable. Shaking with urgency, he exclaimed, "Tess, the door won't budge, what do we do? Someone, anyone, hurry!"
Violet, panic-stricken, yelled, "Hurry up, find something to pry the door open with, now call 911, get the firefighters, where is everyone? Move it!"
That's when the gravity of the situation hit everyone else. Reuben was the first to dash over, followed by the director and the rest of the crew; they were all thrown into disarray as the smoke from the front of the car grew thicker, and the stench of burning rubber filled the air.
Several young folks grabbed metal rods, attempting to smash the door open, but despite the door denting, it remained shut.
Choosing the car for filming had been a decision made with safety in mind; ironically, its sturdy build was now the very cause of distress.
Inside the car, Quintessa was drenched in sweat, as the temperature was soaring. With nothing at her disposal, she looked out at the panicked faces and found a strange sense of calm amidst the chaos. If she were about to die, Quintessa wondered, who would she most want to see?
Her mother's face flashed in her mind, but it quickly morphed into Tyrone's.
A small smile crept on Quintessa's face.
Manny, red-faced and distraught, stammered, "What do we do? The door won't open. What do we do?"
Suddenly, a commanding voice cut through the chaos, "Everyone, shut up and move!"
The crowd parted; their attention was captured by the imposing figure who had just arrived.
Seeing him, Manny had his face light up with hope, "Mr. York, Mr. York, please, you have to save Quinn; we can't get the door open."
Tyrone approached the car,
attempting to pull the door, then turned his attention to the front of the vehicle. His expression was stern, and his focus was not on the person trapped inside.
After inspecting the situation, Tyrone stripped off his bespoke suit jacket, ordering, "Get the fire extinguishers, as many as you can find, and spray the front of the car to cool it down, quickly."
Reuben and Manny were the first to react, scrambling to find fire extinguishers - a standard precaution for film sets against unforeseen accidents.
"Do we have a chainsaw?" Tyrone inquired of the nearest bystander.
The man nodded, "Yes."
Tyrone's gaze darkened, "Well, don't just stand there, go get it."Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
The man shivered and hurried off.
Tyrone grabbed a metal rod from someone nearby, and glanced coldly at Quintessa before gesturing towards the back seat. Quintessa immediately bent down and moved to the back.
