Chapter 366
"I'm heading to the office first. James booked a hotel for the wrap party tonight, and he's taking care of it. If I'm free in the afternoon, I'll swing by to pick you up." "Would it make a difference if I objected?"
Tyrone lifted his chin arrogantly. "Of course not. I call the shots here. You're just a small-time employee in front of the boss. You think you have a say?"
Lately, Tyrone had been assertively domineering yet subtly persuasive, forcibly making his way into Quintessa's life.
Every morning, he'd show up with breakfast prepared by Mrs. York in hand.
Quintessa could resist Tyrone, but she couldn't resist the warmth that came with Mrs. York's meals.
She figured that she was just missing her mom too much. The care Mrs. York provided gave her the illusion that she was still in her childhood, that her mother was still alive. Quintessa didn't want to let go this little bit of hope. As she struggled on her own, surviving was tough for her, but her only belief was to keep living. Only by living could she seek her revenge. But the appearance of Tyrone and his mother made it hard for her to refuse.
Feeling herself change from resisting him to gradually getting used to his presence, Quintessa was scared. She feared that some day she'd lose control, and that could spell disaster for her.
After Tyrone left, Violet sidled up to Quintessa and said, "Go for it, Quinn. You're our studio's star player. Just marry into Tyrone's wealth, reach the pinnacle of your life, and take us all to the high life with you." Quintessa smiled but said nothing.
In the afternoon, it was time for the final scene - a car crash on the highway. The entire crew was extra cautious. Such scenes were prone to accidents, so safety checks were meticulously conducted.
Quintessa was designed to stay in
the car and get hit. In the end, the male lead would miraculously save her right before the car exploded, which would culminate their love story perfectly.
A cliché scenario, but audiences loved such endings. Plus, the director mentioned that if the show did well, a second season might be in the works. What would they shoot if someone actually got hurt?
With minimal lines to deliver, Quintessa just waited for the safety checks to conclude and for the director to call action.
Somehow, Quintessa felt distracted today, unable to focus.
Glancing at the time, she found there were only 30 minutes left before shooting commenced.
In the city center, someone rushed into Alexander's law firm, looking frantic.
"I need to see Attorney Alexander. I have something extremely urgent."
The receptionist shook her head. "I'm sorry, but Attorney Alexander is very busy. Without an appointment, you cannot see him."
"But it's truly urgent, a matter of life and death. Please, could you call him and let him know? It's about Quintessa; she's in danger." "Alright, I'll call." After hanging up, the receptionist said, "Please follow me."
Upon seeing the visitor, Alexander frowned in disgust. "Why is it you?"
Rachel wrung her hands nervously, with her face pale, eyes red, and ber hair tousled from rushing over. "Mr. Harrington, I'm sorry, I didn't know who else to turn to. I had to come to yout."
"What danger is Quinn in?"Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Rachel bit her lip, her eyes welling up. "The scene she's shooting this afternoon, the car crash, the car has been tampered with."
