Capítulo 1090 Hablar sobre el compromiso

“¡No!” Estella estaba furiosa de ver a su padre acompañar a la dama mala. Furiosa, tiró el tenedor, saltó de la silla y subió corriendo las escaleras.

Al ver la rabieta de la niña, Aubree se enfureció, pero tuvo que seguir con su actuación. “¡Essie!” gritó, dejando rápidamente su tenedor y corriendo detrás de la niña.

Justo cuando se puso de pie, Lucian la detuvo. “Dejala ser.” Aubree fingió verse preocupada. “Pero Essie, ella…”

Lucian no se inmutó. “Es bueno para ella calmarse sola también. La mimé demasiado al dejar que obtuviera todo lo que quería en el pasado”.

En su viaje de regreso, Lucian había reflexionado sobre el asunto de Estella destruyendo el neumático de Jack.

A pesar de que podía entender por qué ella había hecho eso, esas eran acciones que no podía dejar de lado ya que ella ya estaba mejorando con su condición.

Era hora de que él corrigiera la forma en que ella se expresaba.

El asunto de Roxanne fue una oportunidad para que él hiciera eso.

Glee llenó la mente de Aubree, pero puso una mirada de culpa en su rostro. “Todo esto es por mi culpa. Sé que a Essie no le gusto, y sé que no puedo presionarla para que le guste, pero aun así insistí en quedarme a cenar. Es mi culpa que Essie no comiera bien su comida”.

Lucian levantó la cabeza para mirarla. “Esto no tiene nada que ver contigo. Ella tiene que enfrentar este hecho eventualmente”. Con eso, volvió con indiferencia a su comida. “Sigamos comiendo”.

Un rastro de deleite bailó en los ojos de Aubree cuando lo escuchó decir eso, y volvió a sentarse en su asiento.

Después de la cena, Aubree sugirió con fingida preocupación que quería ver cómo estaba Estella arriba.

Como era de esperar, Lucian rechazó su sugerencia y le dijo que Estella necesitaba calmarse primero.

Aubree did not insist after that. “I’ll go back first, then. Don’t worry and focus on your work. I’ll be visiting Essie as often as I can.”

Lucian nodded. “You know what kind of girl Essie is. If you want her to accept you, you’ll have to be patient.”

Aubree did not expect him to give her a tip.

After exiting the Farwell residence, Aubree could no longer hide the joy on her face.

“Aubree, what took you so long?” was the question Gina asked her when she finally returned to the Pearson residence. “Dinner’s already cold. I’ll get someone to heat it up again. Wash up and come back downstairs for dinner.”

Aubree halted in her tracks and smiled. “I’ve already had dinner.”

Confused, Gina asked, “Where?”

The thought of how she had had dinner with Lucian earlier brought a satisfied smile to Aubree’s lips. “With Lucian.”

Gina sat upright instantly, and a nervous look appeared on her face. “What did Lucian say? Did he talk to you about the engagement again?”

Ever since Roxanne came back to the country, Lucian had never bothered to contact Aubree himself.

There were a few times when Aubree had gone to him, but he had just gone on and on about breaking off the engagement.

Gina assumed that was what Lucian had talked to Aubree about again.

However, the look on her daughter’s face made the flame of hope burn in her chest. “Or has he decided to keep the engagement as it is?”

Aubree nodded in affirmation before conveying to her mother what Lucian had said to her.
