Her heart was bleeding, she couldn’t get herself. “What the heck!” She roared, forcing her ass on the bed.

Recalling all that occurred in Nessa’s bakery got her irritated. “Huh! This lady is bitch… it’s no longer Xavier, but Jasper now.”

She bit her lips and took a deep breath. “Why would this lady be a disaster to me? She steps into everything.”

Her eyes rolled. “Seems like I made a mistake by yelling at Jasper in her presence, now she might be well convinced that I’m his lover and then pretending to love Xavier.”

She hissed grimacing. “I just wish she won’t say anything about this to Xavier… or I won’t let her go to make me lose him.”

The buzzing of her phone drew her attention and she picked it up to see that it’s Jasper. A loud hiss escaped her lips.

“I just hope you aren’t calling to scold me, or I’ll make sure you roast in hell.” She referred to him when he picked up the call.

Jasper shrugged his shoulders. “Stop acting silly Lilian. Why should you act that way when you don’t know who she is to me?”

“Who else is she if not your new Lover? You know what? I hate that lady damn much and I don’t care to know who she is to you.” She snapped.

Jasper shook his head. “What do you mean by hating her damn much? Have you known her for a long time? What’s her offence to you that you hate her that way?” He asked me multiple questions.

She twisted her lips while her heart began pounding so fast. “You don’t need to know, just have in mind that I won’t sit and watch you cheat on me… neither will I let that lady take you away from me.” She remarked.

He found it funny, all she announced were all leaving his ear immediately. Whatever she’s up to will never be his business.

The fact that he had known Vanessa is a fact that he won’t let her go because of Lilian. If she would leave because of that, then there’s no problem with that.

He knew nothing to say again about that, because he’s gonna follow his heart.

He hung up the call and dropped his phone on the bed.

Lilian yelled out in anger. How dare he hang up the call when she isn’t through with all she had to say to him?

Gosh! She’s gonna take action before things get out of hand.

She moved to the bathroom to freshen up before leaving to meet her friend.

Jasper ended the call but was damn haunted. He felt baffled concerning everything Lilian uttered about Vanessa.

Mere looking at the lady, she is decent both physically and her mode of living. Why then is Lilian uttering the negative side about her.

Something must be done on time before things get out Of hand. But how is he going to know what’s wrong between the two ladies?

He needs to know the reason they are enemies. Vanessa didn’t keep mute when Lilian scolded her… they all behaved like cat and dog.

Lilian needs to come over so they can discuss this. He believes that through her she would get the information he needs.

He picked up his phone and sent Lilian a message. She has to come over before the day ends.

At night..

Chloe sat beside her father in his room, she is here for nothing else than to him the latest gist.

The incident she witnessed at noon troubled her mind that she can’t keep it to herself no matter what it might take to do that.

At first, it was only Vanessa and the young man… today, Lilian was seen present with them as she quarreled with Vanessa.

With her six knots upstairs, she concluded that it’s because of the man… but one thing needed to be talked about.

What will Lilian have to do with the young man when she is engaged by her father? Is it damn possible huh?

She shook her head. This matter needs to be looked into or things might get out of hand. Probably, she doesn’t wish anything bad to happen to Vanessa because of a man.

“Isn’t it better to leave the so-called friend if he’s gonna cause hurt to her? I guess my idea is good…” she thought within her.

Xavier had been staring at his daughter who hasn’t said a word since she came into his room. Her eyes were focused on him, but he believed that her mind wasn’t within.

“Chloe… are you okay? What’s wrong with you?” His deep voice brought her out of her thoughts.

She stretched her lips into a wide smile, and he smiled at her too.

He arched his brow and shuddered. “Anything! Just come up with the discussion.”

“I just wish he wouldn’t be sad… but I can’t just keep this stuff away from him.” She thought within herself.

She got down from the bed and sat opposite him on the sofa. “Dad… promise me you won’t get mad at anyone if I tell you this?”

Xavier snapped her face. He wondered what the discussion is all about, that a promise is being brought up.

Anyways, he’s ready to do anything just to make sure that she tells him all she has in mind.

“It’s a promise… I won’t get mad at anyone for any reason.” He assured her.

She smiled. “And just pretend that you didn’t hear anything… then use your brain.” She added.

Xavier twisted his lips. “No problems with that. “I’ll keep mute towards the issue.”

She nodded and coughed slightly. “I caught ma’am Vanessa and Lilian quarreling because of a man today in her bakery.”

“I wasn’t told, and no one saw me. I just hid and was listening to everything they said… before I tiptoed and left the surroundings back home.” She added.

Xavier felt his heart sinking into his stomach, the heck that he’s hearing isn’t what he had expected to hear.

“Uhmmm! Chloe… can you tell me a little about what they said while quarreling?” He inquired curiously.

She smiled at that statement. Sure! She’ll tell him everything.

“Lilian accused ma’am Vanessa of snatching her lover from her… and ma’am Vanessa kept calling her a whore.”

He wiped his face… this must be a dream. He just hoped the lover Lilian was talking about is him and no one else.

“Are you okay das?” She tapped him.

He nodded. “I’m fine, but did you get to know the lover Lilian was talking about?”

She rolled her eyes. “To be honest, she was referring to the young man they were calling out as Jasper who visited ma’am Vanessa.”

Huh! This is what he never wanted to hear. That Lilian is vividly cheating on him and he’s busy loving her.

No! Wait!! Did he just hear her call Jasper? He gritted his teeth.

Hope it isn’t the Jasper he knows? It must be another Jasper and not the one that has Turner as his second name.

It can never be… it can’t be his worst enemy.

“Are you sure of what you’re saying Chloe? I’m saying this because I’ll make investigations…” he uttered.

Chloe sighed. Heaven knows she was a witness. Everything happened right before her, so she’s sure of what she’s saying.

“I am not lying Dad. Go ahead with your investigations.” She replied.

Xavier was well convinced that Chloe was lying. She had announced the first to him and he confirmed it to be true through Vanessa.

And here is another news that happens to implicate the woman he called a fiance.

No! He can’t keep mute towards the issue. He needs to start taking action before he regrets it.

But, how is he gonna know the truth when Chloe was the only one there? Would he ask Lilian?

He shook his head being so sure that Lilian might lie to him… Then will Vanessa give him the reply he wants?

“Thank you so much for this Chloe… I’ll know what to do about it then.” He cuddled her, caressing her hair.

She smiled relaxingly on his body.

In the morning… .

The children were still asleep when Vanessa came into the house. She only found Xavier seated on the sofa but asleep too.

She didn’t bother awakening him, she left to the kitchen but couldn’t get Tracy busy as usual. She wondered if they weren’t leaving for school.

Huh! Chloe never told her that the next day wasn’t school, and that’s why she’s here.

She left to Chloe’s room to see her rumbling the bed covers all in the name of sleeping.

Heavenly father! They aren’t thinking of getting awake.

She moved to the bed and tapped her leg calling out her name. Chloe turned to the other side of the bed and yawned.

She peeped through one eye to see Vanessa seated on the bed. She yawned while her eyes narrowed.

“Jesus! Ma’am Vanessa… good morning.” She screamed getting out of the bed.

Vanessa was frightened on hearing her scream so loud.

“Is anything the matter Chloe? Why scream this way?” She asked the little girl who was standing at the window.

Chloe turned to her. “We’re late to school.” She rushed out of the room to wake her siblings up. They all ran out of the room to their various places of duty.

Xavier was still asleep on the sofa when Chloe approached him with the tap on his cheek.

“You should have awoken us when you left your room here. Now we’re late to school.” She announced almost about to cry.

Xavier widened her eyes, staring at her. “My goodness! I slept off again…” he yawned.

He was hot on his feet.

“Ma’am Vanessa is here already. She’s even the one that woke me up.” Chloe stated staring at Ben who was cleaning the room.

Vanessa stepped into the sitting room to get him awake. “It’s everything okay with you all? This is my first time seeing everyone asleep by this time.”

“When did you arrive?” He asked her.

“Some minutes ago, I didn’t want to bother you with my greeting.” She replied.

He took a deep breath affixing his palm on his waist. “I’ll go dress up for work now.”

She watched him leave the stairs, and then she turned to Chloe.

“Go brush your teeth, I’m coming over there now.” She ordered her and she left instantly.

Vanessa left to the kitchen and ordered Tracy out so they would go get ready for school. She did that to Ben, promising to do all those things herself just to save their time.

They all adhered and left to their rooms to get dressed.

Xavier brushed his teeth and freshened up. He went down to the dinning room to have his breakfast.

She served him while preparing the kids lunch.

About to leave the dining room, he called back her attention, insisting that she should get seated.

“Tell me Vanessa, what happened between you and Lilian in your bakery yesterday?” He asked her.

She quivered. How on earth did he know about this since she was sure Chloe wasn’t in her bakery the past day.

“Nothing… absolutely nothing.” She replied.

He glanced at her. “Just tell me the truth Vanessa. I trust you to do that.”

That calm voice battled in her, that she didn’t know what to say as a lie again.

“But… it’s just a mere quarrel..” she replied.

“I know. But I want to know the reason behind it.” He questioned again.

Vanessa noticed her palms sweating profusely. “She was scolding me as usual.”

“And that’s because of your new lover right?” He dropped his spoon and affixed his gaze at her.

She bit her lips. “Uhmmm…!”

“Just tell me the truth. He’s Lilian’s lover right?”

Her eyes widened. This is not as easy as she thought. “I don’t know..”

“You know everything Vanessa. Okay, tell me everything about the guy.” He inquired.

She began breathing fast. “He’s tall and huge. Fair and good looking. According to him, he’s Jasper Turner.”

He lost his appetite instantly. “So it’s him… Jasper Turner, my worst enemy.” He muttered to himself.
