Xavier couldn’t tell why he’s uncomfortable and sad towards what Chloe had told him. He shouldn’t be feeling that way… but here he is gritting his teeth.

“Are you sure of this Chloe? But… why should you tell me?” He referred to his little daughter.

Chloe lifted her face staring at him, “I should be asking you why your facial expression changed when I told you about it. You shouldn’t be worried… should you?”

She shook her head, “I’m very sure that you shouldn’t feel haunted, because you’re already engaged… or you don’t want her to get married like you’ll be doing soon huh?” She leaned on his shoulder.

Xavier breathed heavily. Chloe is actually saying the truth about this. He shouldn’t be worried, but he’s already.

Though he’s so handsome and physically fit but… I don’t just want to see her with another man.”

His eyes widened on hearing that. “Did you just hear yourself now? You don’t want to see Vanessa with a man huh?”

“Yes! Dad, ask her who the man is then she comes tomorrow so you know what’s going on.” She suggested.

Xavier shook his head, but within him he had already decided to do that once she came the next day.

“It isn’t proper to interfere in someone’s privacy. Let her leave her life the way she wants… and besides, it isn’t a crime to fall in love with a man and get married to him.” Xavier announced.

She squeezed his clothes. “That’s because you didn’t see the man that I’m talking about. You would have gotten jealous.” She paused and swallowed. “Look Dad, just ask her who the man is… it isn’t something tough.”

“Let this discussion come to an end… I need to go take my dinner and go to bed.” He tried bringing a stop to their discussion.

He wouldn’t want his daughter to know how he’s feeling on hearing the news. It wasn’t something good to him… but should be something delightful to one’s hearing.

Chloe got on her feet forcefully moving to the stairs. He didn’t take time to conclude that she’s sad because he didn’t grant her request.

“At times, I need to turn down your request… so you would understand that not every topic is given much attention.” He thought within him getting on his feet.

He moved to the dinning to get his meal already served, he got seated to gobble on it in order to leave for the bed.

The day was so hectic for him, and he needed much rest for the night.

When he was done, he left for his room to get Lilian asleep already. He didn’t bother disturbing her for any reason. The only thing battling in him is the news gotten from Chloe.

He decided to go check on Chloe and know if she’s okay, only for him to get her deep asleep.

“Thought you wouldn’t sleep tonight because of that. Good night darling.” He muttered and shut the door.

Vanessa laid on her bed facing the ceiling, she has been counting on it all this while.

Jasper’s visit kept troubling her, she couldn’t believe she gave in to his request when he would never love him.

Chloe’s action when she caught them still baffled her.

“What the heck is going on in her brain that age acted that way? Huh… !” She rolled her eyes. “I should be asking myself the reason I still don’t love this dude. He’s handsome and charming… and also wealthy. Why then I’m i not giving him a chance.”

She hissed. “I’m just sure it isn’t about Xavier… or it is?” She shook her head. “Xavier is engaged, I don’t see any reason I should have him in my mind when I’m sure he isn’t gonna spare me a glance at such a thing.”

A loud hiss escaped her lips, she grimaced facing the wall.

“Better still, I’ll sleep than overstress myself over something meaningless.” Ste shut her eyes while gripping the pillow.

Since she didn’t try affixing herself in a thought again, she dozed off instantly.

The next morning***

Tracy was in the kitchen when Vanessa arrived, she first left the room to get Chloe brushing her teeth.

“Sweetheart…” she drew her attention.

Chloe turned to see her smiling at her. She returned the smile. “Good morning ma’am Vanessa…”

“How are you doing today?” She asked, dropping her handbag on the sofa.

“I’m quite good… and you.” She referred.

Vanessa nodded. “I’m okay…”

She left the room to go meet Tracy in the kitchen. “Baby girl…”

“Good morning ma’am…” she smiled.

She responded by returning the smile too. “Why not go take your bath and get ready while I do the cooking?”

Tracy nodded. She had known she would take over the kitchen once she arrived.

“Take care of Chloe okay…” Nessa referred to her.

She nodded. “That’s not a problem… I’ll get her ready.”

Tracy dashed out of the kitchen instantly to meet Chloe taking her clothes off so as to take her bath.

“You no longer wait for your babysitter to handle everything herself.” Tracy drew her attention.

She turned to see her some feet away from her. “She taught me how to do everything myself including cleaning up my room. So I don’t need to disturb her again.”

Tracy nodded, getting her school uniform for her. “Go take your bath, I’ll go take mine now.”

She left while Chloe twitched into the bathroom.

Chloe doesn’t bother asking her babysitter when she knows that she’s busy in the kitchen warranting Tracy out to get ready for school.

She was done with taking her bath, and she began dressing up.

Vanessa was done with their breakfast, she had to start preparing their Lunch.

She had dished their food and served it on the dining table before Leaving back to concentrate on the lunch she’s preparing.

While all her mind was on what she’s doing, she felt a foot approaching closer to her.

She turned her head to see that it’s Xavier coming closer to her.

“Good morning Mr Xavier…” she greeted me.

He nodded, responding to her greeting. “I’m quite sure you slept well right?” He asked her.

She glanced at him and nodded. “I’m very strong.”

Xavier stood still watching as she was very busy with what she was doing. He had been creating… trying to get courage and tell her the reason she’s here.

“Uhmmm! Vanessa… ” he called her and bit his lips.

She flicked her head aside to glance at him. “I’m hearing you… it’s anything the problem?” She inquired.

He shook his head smiling, but Vanessa noticed that something was wrong.

“Everything is fine…” he replied.

Vanessa shrugged her shoulders. “If you say so…”

After some minutes had elapsed, he tapped her shoulder again.

“Can I ask you a question?” He asked.

She nodded. “Sure you can.”

“Okay, not actually a question though… but just want to congratulate you for finding a new lover.” He stated.

Vanessa’s eyes widened, she shivered within her upon hearing that.

“What do you mean?” She asked again wondering what’s going on with him.
