She stood on the door post staring at Ben continuously, but was kinda scared of moving in.

She was sure that he wouldn’t love to set his eyes on her.

“Ma’am Vanessa…” Chloe tapped her.

She froze on that touch and then turned to see Chloe standing beside her. “I’m coming Chloe.”

“What are you doing here? I don’t want him to scold you and spoil your mood, come let’s go to my room.” Chloe referred to her.

She smiled at that statement she made. Chloe wasn’t mistaking though, she’s really saying nothing but the truth.

Since she began working here, the little girl had known that her siblings don’t in any way love Vanessa, and that’s why she wouldn’t want her to speak with Ben… because she’s sure that he will scold her again.

“You don’t need to worry Chloe, I’ll come over with you once I’m done speaking with him.” She assured her.

But she wasn’t pleased with the assurance, all she wants is to leave with her immediately.

“Ben might hurt you with his words, I wouldn’t like to see you acting strange all because of him. Please let’s leave.” Chloe insisted on drawing her clothes.

She took a deep breath and then turned to face her. She noticed how grimaced her face seemed to be, and the only thing that would brighten it up is leaving with her.

“Let’s leave your room okay.” She lifted her into her arms and they left for her room.

There, she told her lots of folks and tales after which she asked her some questions and she gave a plain answer to it.

She shook her head, wondering what the little girl had in mind to ask such a question.

Precisely, Chloe had known she wasn’t on good terms with Lilian and lots of issues were coming up between Lilian and her father.

“Since Dad scolded her because of your disappearance, I haven’t set my eyes on her again. I wonder where she left off.” She uttered again.

Vanessa tapped her cheek and smiled. “Why are you worried about her when you don’t love her presence here? You want her back right?”

She shook her head. “Not me wanting her back. I don’t ever want to see her here again. She’s causing lots of trouble in this home.” She stated audibly.

Vanessa only smiled at every word that escaped her throat. She doesn’t need to keep asking why she doesn’t love her again.

She had known none of them love Lilian, and that’s because of her attitude towards them. When talking about her, she isn’t alleged to be compared with Lilian in terms of being present in this house, that’s because Lilian is expected to steal their heart with lots of love and care because she’s gonna be their step mother soon.

But everything is opposite of what it should be. She isn’t treating her fiance like one, and there’s no means the children would welcome her if it continues that way.

Meanwhile, she isn’t expected to act rude towards them, at least this is her first visit.

“She isn’t after taking care of us, rather she wants my father to sack you from working here. I wonder what she’s up to.” Chloe stated again, distracting her thoughts.

Vanessa adjusted on the bed, and she laid her head on her thigh.

“You’re still a kid to be worried about all this, your siblings aren’t worried. I would advise you kick off everything about Lilian off your mind and concentrate on your studies okay.” She advised her.

She stretched her lips into a wide smile. “I’m always the happiest so long as ma’am Vanessa is concerned.”

Vanessa blushed, rubbing her palm on her hair. “I’ll soon be leaving, you know that right?”

Chloe wrapped her arms round her waist. “I’m not leaving to see father tonight, so please cuddle me to bed before you leave.”

“Of course I will, it’s part of my job or you’ve forgotten. Maybe it’s because certain times you decide to be awake because of your father.” She referred to her.

Chloe relaxed on her thigh humming some rhymes while she tapped her back following along with the rhymes too.

She sat with her, and cuddled her to bed. When she realized she had slept off, she grabbed her handbag and left the room instantly.

Ben was seated in his bed when Nessa knocked on the door, she had been worried about the young boy and would love to speak with him.

Though, she wasn’t sure if he would welcome her presence.

Ben got on his foot and walked towards the door, he let it open to see Vanessa standing at the door post staring at him.

“What’s it? I’m sure you missed the road, I don’t welcome people like you here.” He retorted, not even letting her speak.

Nessa pouted her lips. “Ummm! I’m just here to discuss something with you before I leave.”

“There’s no time left for you, so please leave if you’re done with today’s work.” Ben spluttered.

He tried shutting the door, but Nessa didn’t let him. She insisted on speaking with him.

“But I just told you that I’m not interested to hear the hell you’re about to say. Why not just let me be for goodness sake… ” he yelled at her but not in a high voice.

Nessa swallowed deeply. She wouldn’t care to know the swear words she might use on her this time, all she needs is his attention.

“Trust me Ben, you won’t ever regret welcoming me to tell you this. If it isn’t important, then I wouldn’t be here.” She referred to him.

“I wonder what the hell you wanna tell me that’s so important to leave since you’re done with your work.” He replied aggressively.

She took a deep breath. Her head lifted upwards and then she bent it low, biting her lips slightly.

“It isn’t mandatory that you would let me into your room, just promise to give me your ears while I go ahead with anything I want to say.” She referred to her.

He licked his lips leaning on the door post. “Go ahead then, but I’m giving you my ears because it’s interstate and important to me. In Spite of that, I’m with you but my mind is elsewhere.”

She was kind of relieved on hearing that, because she believed that he would love what she’s about to say.

“Ummm! I overheard you on a call some minutes ago, or maybe up to an hour now…

He glared at her for making that statement. “Excuse me Madam, you mean all this while I’ve been on call, you’ve been here widening your ears to everything that I’ve been saying?”

“I didn’t mean to hurt you, but I heard the conversation and it touched me, so I decided to get to the root of it.” She replied.

His eyes furrowed in anger that Vanessa noticed it. “You still had the guts to tell me you wanna have a discussion with me huh?”

“That’s because I believe I can be of help… .

He gritted his teeth. “Look, don’t even make such a mistake again, or I promise not to take it lightly with you. I’m not Chloe, I am Ben.”

She nodded. “No problems, I already know that you are Ben, not Chloe. But that’s by the way. Should I go ahead?”

“Just split the fucking words out of your throat and leave my sight.” He remarked.

Nessa didn’t spare her a glance, she only swallowed her saliva just to comport herself.

“I overhead you telling a friend of the young girl you’re in love with in school, but you don’t know how to approach her…” she stated staring into his eyes.

He glared at her. “You had everything and you’re still asking me.”

She blinked several times. “Look Ben, you can’t just stand and keep watching the girl you love around without approaching her, that’s because there are so many dudes like you also crushing on her…

“Stop being shy… pull that stuff by the side and express your feelings to her. If you keep waiting all because you’re scared she might turn you down, then you will be a loser at last, because someone else will put on rr courage, approach her and she will give in…

“Forget the fact that you don’t know her mind, but you need to take action first. If she declines your request three times, then note that she isn’t made for you.” She concluded.

Ben couldn’t get his eyes off her, he kept contemplating everything she uttered.

“So how do I approach her when I can’t get the courage?” He asked her.

She licked her lips. “During leisure time, sight her when she’s alone and move to her. Spend lots of time with her and make sure she feels happy and safe being with you. At the end of the day, speak out your mind to her and await her response… Who knows if she has been crushing on you too.”

Ben heaved a big sigh of relief, he stared at Nessa for a while and nodded.

“Thank you so much for this piece of idea, I’ll give it a try and let you know the outcome.” He stated.

She nodded and left his sight.

Ben didn’t get off from the door post, he stood staring at Vanessa until she vanished from his sight.

He shut the door and moved to the bed, getting his ass on it. Within him, he felt okay with all Nessa had stated and had decided to give it a try hoping that it would work out for him.
