Chapter 35
So many minutes had elapsed after Xavier came back from work, he had left to his room without returning back and his children we all baffled to know what’s going on.
Little Chloe glanced at her two siblings who were not saying a word at all. They all sat still.
“Are you sure daddy is ok? He hasn’t stepped down for his dinner yet you too and not bothered just like I am.” She authored referring to her siblings
Ben glanced at her and And licked his lips. “I think it’s better you go upstairs and check what’s going on with Dad, he will Grant you the opportunity and wouldn’t scold you if you dash into their room.” he suggested.
Tracy acceded to the idea taking a glance at her little sister too. “He said the right thing Chloe, it’s better you go check on him…Dad would understand you more better.”
She got on his feet about to leave.
“Wait… come back here, I need to ask you a question.” Tracy called her back.
She returned reluctantly, staring at the both. “Any problems?” she asked her.
Tracy swallowed deeply. “Your babysitter isn’t at work by this time, does it mean she isn’t coming to work today?” she asked
Her eyes shut. “I don’t really know what’s going on, I’ve searched for her at the bakery but she isn’t around. The door itself was wide open yet no one was in the shop, so I had to push the door closed but couldn’t lock it. Then I called a young man who locked it up l for me. I left with the keys too… and since then I haven’t heard from her… that’s why I’m bothered to know what’s wrong with dad.”
Ben heaved a big sigh. “It’s okay then, you go upstairs and speak with Dad, he might know her whereabouts.” he assured her.
The little girl nodded and left the sitting room up the stairs. She met her Dad seated on the sofa while his head rested on the wall.
She moved in and tapped his thigh.
“Come on Dad, you don’t want to take your dinner for tonight or are you filled up already? Did you visit ma’am Vanessa and she gave you any food…?” She sat beside him. “You are not saying a word.” She threw multiple questions at him.
Xavier stared at her for a while and hissed. “I lost my appetite and I don’t feel like taking anything until tomorrow, but then… it’s ok. Everything is fine…”
“I didn’t visit Vanessa, I don’t even know her residence…”
“Don’t tell me that… Dad, since I returned from school I haven’t set my eyes on ma’am Vanessa.” She uttered.
His eyes widened. “Are you for real? Did you really check well?” Xavier got on his feet moving out of the room while she followed him.
He moved into Chloe’s room but found nobody, there wasn’t a single soul in it. And then he stepped downstairs to find Tracy and Ben seated on the sofa expressing partially how bitter they are.
“What’s going on with you two? Did anyone hurt you?” he asked them.
They shook their heads in unison. “Not at all, but we should be asking you that because you didn’t bother to know how we’re feeling and you haven’t taken your dinner.”
He heaved a big sigh. “You won’t get what’s going on, anyway let the dinner be for tonight.”
He glanced at the dining and no-one was seated there. “Did you ever see Vanessa today?”
The two shook their heads. “Nope! We didn’t. It’s just in the morning and we haven’t seen her since we came back from school, she hasn’t been present for work.”
“And did you bother checking on her?”
Tracy glanced at Ben who was already staring at her, they shook their heads.
“We didn’t…”
He pouted his lips in an angry manner. “You two are very silly, I mean so crazy. The babysitter isn’t here and you didn’t even bother to know what’s going on… even if it’s a call you couldn’t give me.”
“Because we know you cooperate with her so well, and maybe you spoke with her through the phone. That’s why we didn’t bother giving you a call about her.” Tracy stated.
“You shut your mouth. I cooperate with her so well… don’t ever say that again.” He scolded her.
“But she’s telling the truth, Dad.”
He glared at Ben and looked off. Chloe held his palm.
“Now tell me that you have spoken with him today dad, because I have tried my best but couldn’t find her.”
“Did you visit her bakery today?” he asked her.
She nodded. “Of course, I did after taking my lunch when I returned back from school. I left for her bakery but no one was found in it. And because I couldn’t lock the door I had to call out for help and the key was in my room…but since then she hasn’t shown up.” Chloe narrated.
“This must be a joke.” he muttered and left back upstairs.
He tapped Lillian, getting her awake. “Did Chloe’s babysitter come over today?” he asked.
Lillian wiped her face while thinking of an answer to that question which seemed so awful to her hearing.
“What sort of question is that Xavier? Do I have any business to do with your babysitter? Besides, you employed her… didn’t you?”
“Yes I did, I employed her and she’s supposed to be here by now. Yet she hasn’t shown up.” Xavier replied.
“Then go look for her and stop disturbing me.” she retorted and laid back on the bed.
Xavier kept staring at the lady who had turned down on his question.
“Lilian, this isn’t fair at all… fine she’s my worker, and you didn’t even bother to check on her.” Xavier spluttered.
“Why would I check on that bitch? Someone that’s stepping on my foot and you expect me to keep checking on her. I’m not her employee. Aren’t you the one paying her? Go ahead and look for her, Mr Xavier.” She retorted.
Xavier stared at her for a while and hissed out loud. “I guess you know her whereabouts. Don’t you?”
She stood from the bed. “You are accusing me.”Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
“It’s not an accusation Miss, just tell me you know about her whereabouts. Stop acting strange.” Xavier yelled at her.
“Then, what’s strange about my actions? I haven’t set my eyes on her since today… Do I have anything to do with her?” Lilian replied feeling uncomfortable.
He heaved a big sigh and got seated on the sofa. “That’s because you’ve been threatening her life all this while. Lilian, you’ve been trying Your possible best to make sure she’s out of my house, stop pretending you don’t know her whereabouts. Tell me Lillian, where is Vanessa.”
“This is really getting intense, Xavier feel free to report to the police if you are looking for your worker. I am not her employee.” She uttered.
He glared at her, snapping her face. “You must be insane for saying that. Lillian, make sure Vanessa is back or I’ll make sure to deal with you no matter what it seems like. I won’t spare you this time, you’ve pushed me to the wall so much.” he screeched at her and left the room.
Lilian kept staring at him while seated on the bed, she wondered what’s going on with him.
It’s quite true that she knows her whereabouts, but then what business does he have with that? She sighed and laid back on the bed again, affixing herself in deep thoughts on the next step to take.
If only she would get rid of that lady from this house so easily, and Xavier wouldn’t complain… She will do that in a hurry. But here is Xavier questioning her.
It’s not even an accusation because she knows so well of her whereabouts.
“How on earth is Xavier sure that I know Vanessa’s whereabouts? When I said that she had spellbind him, I wasn’t mistaken.” She hissed. “He’s thinking of no one else now except Vanessa, to hell with that lady.”
She grabbed the pillow enclosing her face.
