Drawn to You: The Billionaire’s Second Wife

Chapter 28

She was done with all she had to do and then was about to leave for her bakery.

Just as she stepped into the sitting room, her eyes met with that of Lilian who sat on the sofa while the television was on but her interest wasn’t in it.

She glanced at her taking long steps to leave the room.

“Vanessa…” Lilian called her back.

She paused her movement sparing her a glance, at this point she doesn’t need anything that would spoil her mood for any reason.

“What’s the problem?” She asked her back.

Lilian got on her feet expressing a hostile smile on her face, her two palms transfixed on her waist as she moved towards her.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“You’re leaving for your bakery right?” She asked her.

Vanessa nodded. “Sure, that’s where I’m heading to now.”

“Make sure you have a rethink over what I said, I’m hoping to get feedback from you soon.”

Nessa glanced at her and looked off instantly, there’s nothing to think about this but she will have to try to.

“And you know what? I’m also pleading with you to leave Xavier alone for me. To be honest, this is getting out of hand, and getting pissed off already… Miss Vanessa, if you want a man in your life, then I can help you get one who will take good care of you. Get your eyes off Xavier please.” Lilian ordered but in a polite manner this time.

She glanced at her again and sniffed repeatedly, her eyes met hers the second time.

“It’s okay then, I need to get going now. Just like you said, I’ll have a rethink over it. But note that I have nothing to do with Xavier and I don’t need a man in my life…” Vanessa retorted.

Lilian smiled. “Stop pretending that you don’t need a man, because if you don’t… then there isn’t any reason you should be pestering yourself around him just to gain his attention.”

“Enough! I don’t have time for all this…” Lilian watched her make the last statement and dash out of the room.

She didn’t stop her again this time, she only peeped through the windows watching her leave through the gate.

*********

Vanessa felt bitterness in her, Lilian is biting more than she can chew and she doesn’t need that.

Staying in that home as a babysitter will cause more trouble than ever between her and Lilian, and no one will bear the pain for her once that lady takes the issue to the next level.

Nessa thought of quitting the job for the sake of her life, if that will bring forth enmity between her and Xavier, then she’s good with that.

The trash she’s talking about is still what she hasn’t been able to get what she meant by that, and Lilian is quite ready to wipe her off this earth just because of Xavier.

But then, there’s nothing binding her together with Xavier, and she has noticed that her presence gives him and his daughter a certain amount of joy.

Heaven knows she won’t love to bring an end to that happiness, but then her life is more important.

She had indirectly accused her of trying to take Xavier away from her, meanwhile… it’s one thing she hasn’t thought of despite the strange feelings developing in her towards him… she keeps being herself, besides the young man is engaged already.

Chloe might not survive losing her this time, the life of that innocent child matters a lot to her.

The buzzing of her cell phone distracted her thoughts, she stared at the screen to see that it was one of her patrons.

Her order is almost ready though.

“I’m so sorry for keeping you waiting ma’am, I’ll get it for you instantly.”Nessa pleaded with assurance.

The lady acceded and hung up the call.

She got on her feet and began packaging the lady’s order, she needed to take it to her before dawn to get her payment instantly.

It didn’t take her much time to get everything ready and then she locked up her bakery at the woman’s residence which wasn’t much far from her bakery.

Happiness filled her heart, she had made many sales despite all her days spent in Xavier’s residence.

Precisely, people are getting to know her business and how good she is at it, she believes that the money she would be making from her business can solve her problems even if she quits the babysitting job.

She arrived at the mall which wasn’t that large and then requested to see the woman who arrived with her payment and took the order from her.

“Thank you so much, Vanessa.” She greeted me.

Nessa stood at a side watching a young man as he purchased one of her fruit bread and gobbled on it demanding more from them.

With the man’s purchase, she assured herself of double good in the business.

She left the mall some seconds later heading back to her bakery, but since she wasn’t in a hurry, she decided to Trek to save her money.

While walking home majestically, she stumbled on a huge dude that wasn’t expressing any smiles on his face.

“I’m so sorry…” she pleaded.

But there wasn’t an atom of a smile on his face, he glared at her with a chiseled face.

“Aren’t you seeing your path? Must you stumble on my feet?” He screeched.

Nessa bent her head low.”It wasn’t intentional, I’m so sorry okay.” She pleaded and left his sight.

He kept staring at her for a while and then turned to leave through her path, he needed to know more about her though on a mission.

Vanessa stepped into her bakery after unlocking it but was called out from work some minutes later by the dude he met some minutes ago.

She was so shocked to see him standing on the veranda of her bakery staring at her.

“Hey! What do you want from me again? I’ve apologized for that, haven’t I?” She asked to come closer to him.

He smiled and put his cellphone into his pocket. “Uhmmm! I… I… just decided to come over and see where you do stay.”

“Any problem with that? Well, you’re welcome but anything you want to purchase?” She referred to him.

He shook his head. “Not at all, but can I ask you a favor?”

“What’s that?”

He moved closer to her. “Can we go on a date? Even if it’s once?”

She stared at him completely again and licked her lips angrily. “But I don’t know who you are, and I’m not interested anyway.”

“Why? I’m I not good enough to go on a date with? Just take a good look at me before making such a decision.” He remarked.

Vanessa shook her head, she wasn’t in the mood of arguing with anyone. If only the young man would just leave quietly, she would appreciate it the most.

“I’m sorry, but I’m not in the mood. You can look for some other women to go on a date with.” She replied and stepped backward.

He held her back. “You don’t walk out of my presence that way. Why look down on me? I’m I not handsome enough to care for you?”

“I never said that, but I don’t have time for dating at this time. You can look for some other women and go on a date with.” Vanessa stated.

He drew her closer again glaring into her eyes, much hatred and anger filled his eyes.

“Now I know that everything is true. She was saying the truth, you aren’t interested in any other man except him huh?” He yelled at her.

Nessa felt baffled, she was trying to recall why the dude was making such a statement.

At that moment, Lilian’s quest struck her mind again.

“Lilian sent you to me?” He asked the young man.

He smiled and shook his head in anger. “You said that young lady.”

This is just the reason Lilian pleaded to pay her so she can resign from her work. This is also the reason she remarked to get her a man so she would leave Xavier’s home.

“But I never told her that I need a man, I’m okay without any.” She referred to him.

“Then you must be crazy for rejecting my offer. Why would you want to take her fiance away from her because the young man is wealthy huh?” He gripped her palm so tight.

Nessa tried so hard to let go of her palm, but couldn’t. It hurts her so much.

“I don’t have anything to do with Xavier, he just employed me to babysit his little daughter and that’s all.” She started amidst pain.

He hit her cheek. “You lie. Now, you have to leave that home or you’ll regret it.”

“And how dare you raise your hands on her?” A masculine voice echoed behind them.

She flicked her head aside to get Xavier to step out of his car.

He moved closer to the dude and gripped his collar. “Who sent you to hurt her? What offense did she commit?”

But he didn’t say a word, Xavier couldn’t hold up the anger in him. He hit him several times until he took on his heels.

He moved to Vanessa who was almost in tears attributed to the hit she got from the dude.

“I’m so sorry Vanessa…?” He pleaded.

She looked up staring at him. He’s the reason she’s passing through all this hell in the hands of Lilian.

“Who sent him? Did you offend him?” He asked her.

She shook her head. “I didn’t offend him, just because I rejected going on a date with him…”

He felt jealous of hearing that, but couldn’t get the reason he felt that way.

“Why did you reject it?”

She glanced at him and bent her head low. “I’m not interested in any man.”

He felt happiness in him hearing that but pretended to be against her reason.

“I overheard you mention Lilian’s name. Don’t tell me she sent him to harm you again.” He tried inquiring.

Vanessa swallowed deeply, she doesn’t wish to cause quarrels between them again.

“Uhmmm! I… I… don’t, I’m not sure… I don’t know what to say…” she stammered.

Xavier gritted his teeth, he must see Lilian now because of this.

Before Nessa would utter a word again, he had left his car and drove off to his residence.
