Divorce To Restart: Vengeful Ex-Wife Strikes Back!

A blabbering mouth

Chapter 46 Blabbering Mouth

REMINGTON HOSPITAL, NEW YORK. “What is all this about?” Xander frowned as he settled in the chair opposite Jason. “Nina says she uses this hospital. Is she okay?” He asked. Jason held up a blank stare. “Are you asking me that?” “Of course, why can’t I? You hardly come by the office, and the day you finally choose to, I am the one you put a call through.” Without a word, his uncle placed a pill container before him, watching him sternly. Xander gulped when he realized what it was all about. “Xander, you are pushing me to have no choice but to rat you out. Why do you keep doing this to yourself?” He scratched the back of his neck, grinning sheepishly. “Is this about the other day at the cabin? I can assure you I was playing around. It’s nothing serious.” Jason didn’t look any convinced. “The more you lie, the more angered I become. Aren’t you worried about how much your nonchalance will take from you? Do you not care at all?” “It makes me more focused.” “Hell, no. It makes you prone to harm. Especially now that you have the one next to you. And don’t even try to deny it. I saw the look in your eyes, and Jace already affirmed it to me.” “I am going to murder that boy.” He threatened under his breath. “Stop sounding like he did you any harm. We are all just looking out for you, please.” “What if it never works? I have already lost a long time ago. Let me accept my defeat.” “The Xander I know does not give in to defeat so easily. What went wrong with you?” Xander exhaled slowly, feeling a part of his headache so much. “I am trying to avoid giving myself false hope. It doesn’t seem fair to me.” “And I am asking you to trust me. Give me the benefit of the doubt, and let me handle this, please. I can’t do it alone if you aren’t cooperating. And you keep taking us back to where we started. I need your full attention, please.” “You are much better than my father.” Jason chuckled. “You know that is not true. Johnson isn’t so bad. If he was, I would have put a wedge between him and my sister and stopped them from getting married. I think you two are alike and quite stubborn to understand each other’s perspective.” “Yeah, blame the young one. It’s always you older folks’ way of evading responsibility.” He snorted. “You are just pained. So I will run a few tests; that way, we can start again.” “What’s the need for that? Can’t I get the pill, and we all move on?” “No, it doesn’t work like that. You have backtracked, so I have to do a proper test. It would be best if you didn’t make me appear incompetent. So shall we?” Xander grumbled as he followed him behind. “Shouldn’t you be retired by now?” “I am only 55. What is there to retire?” “That is exactly my point. You are old.” “Call me whatever you please. I am not bothered.” He retorted. Xander wished he would be bothered enough to send him out and not have him undergo the needle piercings and let him be. But he knows better than to not mess with his uncle. It’s interesting when Jason plays nice. He is a complete version of Xander’s mother when his mood switches. After the procedure, they didn’t get to talk much because Jason had an emergency. Xander couldn’t think of anyone else to torment but his brother. He only has a few days to make his travel, and he has to deal with medications he intended to avoid. He couldn’t think of anyone else to blame for it except Jace. “Do I know you?” Jace questioned when he answered the call. “Pretend one more time, and you will have your head dangling next to your body. May I ask you a question?” “No, you may not.” “I am going to ask anyway. Do you have a problem with keeping your mouth shut? And why do you always have to yap about me? Do you not have things to do with yourself?” “I feel very hurt by your allegations.” “Well, I have much more to share. Come meet me at our regular bar if you want to hear it.” “Didn’t Uncle J. R. warn you to avoid those places?” Xander cursed under his breath. “Who am I fooling? I should have known you had something to do with this initially. No one told me you two are talk buddies now.” He could sense Jace’s smile from the other end. “We have always been buddies, and it bothered you.” “Don’t make me come and storm that place you are hiding. I will stay at the restaurant next to it. How about that?” “Just admit that you can’t do without me.” “You are pushing your luck.” He growled. “Fine, I am coming. Order something edible and filling. I will join you soon.” “Yeah.” Xander rolled his eyes and ended the call. He got into his car and drove down to the location. Xander couldn’t help but have a rethink on everything his uncle said. It would be a complicated process for him to pull through. But then things seem like they will never be the same again. Jace arrived a few minutes after he arrived. Xander couldn’t hide his surprise. “How the hell did you make it here that fast?” He asked. With a proud grin, Jace nodded towards the park where his powerbike was parked. Xander groaned inwardly. “You do hate me, don’t you? Why would you drive that to work or anywhere in the first place? Do you want Mum to bring down the roof?” “She won’t know if you don’t tell. How about that?” Jace winked. A mischievous grin crossed Xander’s face. “Yeah, right.” “Xander, you are not going to tell her.” He stated firmly. “I didn’t say anything, did I? Why are you looking so serious?” Yet the amusement didn’t leave his eyes. “I don’t like you.” “You are always playing the victim when something doesn’t go your way. It becomes a worry for you. Such a meek fellow.” Xander mocked. He got distracted by the message that popped up in his notification. His brother took notice when his demeanor changed. “What is wrong?” Jace inquired. “I have dinner with Dawn tonight,” Xander replied. “Do you have to go?” “I promised I would.” “I wish you would be that dedicated to the one thing you need,” Jace mumbled. Xander rolled up the napkin next to him and threw it at Jace. “Take that.” “So childish. Just know you are paying for the meal.” “When have you ever been able to pay for your meal?” He taunted. Jace looked unfazed. “I am never getting triggered when it comes to food. So suit yourself, brother.” He snickered. Xander shook his head, smiling when the waiter brought their food, and Jace looked super excited. He would never understand the kind of love he has for food. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
