Chapter 48
Ace’s PoV
Max and Charlie are my assistants. I’m now at my company doing some paperwork and fixing some essential documents that need to be fixed. I chose them because if something were to happen to me in the future, I would be able to rely on them.
“You have a meeting after lunch, boss,” Charlie announced as he held the tablet he was holding, and I saw Max enter my office.
“Unice and Justin are on their way to the mall,” Max announced, and I nodded.
I let her do whatever she wanted because I predicted that if I didn’t let her do whatever she wanted, I wouldn’t be able to show her that I was slowly changing for the better. I looked through the paper I was holding now and discovered a list of various toys.
“Is this the only document I need to look over? I need more design for the toys; we need something unique,” I exclaimed, and Charlie approached me.
“It’s the designer boss gave me the one,” Charlie replied, and I was thinking about Unice’s favorite toy.
“Could you two go out for a minute? I’ll call Unice,” I said, and they were taken aback when I mentioned Unice.
“All right, boss, take your time,” Charlie answered, and they exited my office; I picked up my personal phone and called Unice; I believe she was already enjoying herself in the mall as I began to call her and looked at the window.
[Hello, Ace?] I heard Unice’s voice, and now I’m at ease.
“Hi, I called you because I wanted to ask you something,” I said to Unice, and I could hear many people in the background because she was already in the mall.
[I’ll look for a quiet place, I’m with Justin, he insists on being with me when I buy something,] Unice explained, and I waited for her signal.
[All right, you can ask me now because I’m here with fewer people.] Unice is assured.
“I’d like to know what your favorite toy is. You know my company is in the toy business, right? Do you have any suggestions for me?” I asked.
[Did you forget what we got at the arcade? I like everything as long as it’s stuff toy,] Unice replied to my question.
“I listed what you said; I think I might call some department to sign a contract to me so that I have many stuff toys to sell and the one you said,” I replied to Unice, who laughed.
[It’s your choice, but you can look up stuffed toys on the internet and find many different styles of them.] I smiled at the suggestion.
“Thank you for your suggestion; please call me when you get home and see you later,” I said while waiting for her response.
[I’ll call or text you, Ace, I love you, take care, and work hard!] She exclaimed, surprising me and making my heart race, and then she ended the call.
I went to the website and looked up stuff toy.’ I saw many designs, and she was correct; I can choose a design here, but it must be unique. I picked up the telephone to call the designer, and she answered it immediately.
[Hello Sir?] I could hear the designer greeting me.
“I found a design for the stuffed toy that we will soon release on the market, and I approve the one you sent to me. I will send you a list of the various designs of stuff toys.” Someone knocked on my office door after I confirmed.
[Noted, sir; I apologize for only providing one document. I will do everything in my power to find more designs for the company.] I ended the call after assuring the designer.
“You can come in now,” I said. When Charlie and Max entered, I recognized them.
“How about your lunch, sir? What drinks do you want with your beef steak?” Charlie approached me, but I was too preoccupied.
“Beef steak is fine with me; I’d like a large ice tea drink.” I made a request.
“Alright, boss,” Charlie exclaimed, and I scrolled down to gather different styles of stuffed toys we would make.
After listing the different styles of stuffed toys, I created an email. Still, before I type a reminder, I notice a new email from a department. Daniel Daffe is the name of the person who emails me.
I opened the email and read his message to me. When I saw his endorsement letter, he wanted to collaborate with my company. Perhaps he has a small business, so he wants to collaborate. I responded to him first and then sent the email I needed to send to my designer.
Several minutes have passed. I answered the phone when I heard it ring, thinking it was my designer. I’m not sure.
[Good morning, Mr. Shelton. I noticed you responded to my email, and this is Daniel Daffe, the owner of the D. O. D Department.] He is waiting for my email; perhaps he is one of Edward’s men attempting to enter my company; I must remain vigilant.
“I read that you want to collaborate with my company; I would appreciate it if I could meet with you personally so that we can settle the contract and further discuss the details,” I remarked as I fiddled with my pen.
[I can meet you after lunch if you want, I don’t have anything else planned at that time,] Daniel responded quickly, and I glanced at the clock.
“Unfortunately, that will conflict with my schedule; I have a meeting after lunch; would you mind waiting in my office? The meeting won’t last long.” I reassured him.
[That’s fine with me! Or you can simply inform me that the meeting has concluded so I can leave my department and go to your office.] Daniel said, and I smirked.
“Then I’ll just inform you, Mr. Daffe, Have a nice day,” I say as I hang up the phone.
It was lunchtime, and I was getting hungry, so I stood up from my seat and stretched my arms. I heard Charlie knock, and Max was still on his phone. He didn’t interrupt me when talking to someone.
“You have a special guest today, boss,” Charlie announced, and I saw Unice emerge from behind Charlie, waving at me.
“I don’t want to go home early; I got everything I wanted!” Unice insisted, and I motioned Charlie into my office.
“You can’t be here right now; please go home.” She was taken aback when I responded.
“Why? Are you trying to keep something from me? You called me earlier, and I gave you some suggestions for toys,” Unice inquired, and I sighed.
“I just want to know your favorite stuff toy; yes, the suggestion is beneficial; however, you can’t be here today because I have much work to do. I’ll be busy after lunch,” I told her, and she pouted.
“Don’t try to stop me; I don’t want to go home,” Unice yelled as she entered my office and looked around.
“Are you thinking that I’m hiding a woman?” I explain to Unice.
“I understand you’re busy, but I want to be here!” Unice clarified, and I palmed my face.
“Okay, fine, I’ll let you. I have a meeting after lunch; have you eaten yet?” I gave her permission.
“I have food here with me. Can we eat here at your office?” Unice asked, showing me a plastic bag containing food, and I nodded.
“Let’s eat now; I have my own food here,” I said, and she smiled back.
We went to the sofa in my office, which has a small table, and I set down the ice tea and began eating, as did Unice.
“It’s great that you’re working hard; I’m proud of you, Ace,” Unice said, and when I looked at her, she was smiling and eating the food she had.
She’s eating fried chicken again, which is her favorite, and I can’t stop her. After a while, we eat, and I drink my ice tea while she drinks her soda. After I finish my ice tea, I gently touch her legs.
“Why are you touching my legs now, Ace?” Unice inquired, and I simply smirked.
“I just wanted to ask if you can accompany me to a meeting. I have a guest today, and I’ll talk to him because he wants to collaborate with me,” I told her, and she was surprised.
“You were invited to collaborate?! That is fantastic! Mr. Shelton, congratulations.” Unice, tease me while smiling.
“Thank you; if I have to leave early, let’s celebrate later.” Unice nodded as I assured her.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“I’ll prepare dinner for us, or if you prefer, we can eat at a restaurant,” Unice suggests.
“How about we just eat outside? Do you have any suggestions?” I inquired of Unice.
“If you want a lot of food, let’s eat at a Korean restaurant,” Unice proposed, and I nodded before checking my wristwatch.
“I need to prepare for the meeting; please accompany me to the meeting room,” I spoke to her quietly, and she nodded before I stood up.
