Chapter 91
Hector POV
I had called on all pack/training session this morning. Something had me feg unsettled recently and I couldn't put my finger on it.
The borders were clear, there was no sign of imminent danger so very did i have this feg in the pat of my stomach.
It had been there constantly for the last few days from the moment i woke up, 1 the moment 1 went to sleep. Even waking me up in the night like a sense of foreboding
I usually have this feg when an attack is moments away or a non pack wolf has entered into the Dark Phanton Pack grounds.
But the grounds and borders were clear. There was no sight of another person for miles.
1 called an all pack training session as a precautionar/theasure. If an attack was to occur, then the non- warriors would have had recent training at least.
"Again!" I command to a group of pack members that were underage. Technically they shouldn't be training to such a level yet, not at their age. But war doesn't consider ages. "Alpha, Alpha Jude is at the gate." Ezra mind-links me from across the training field.
"Really? We weren't expecting him today, were we?"
"No Alpha, not to my knowledge."
"He'll have to wait. Get Aubrey to make him a drink, and to wait with him in my office."
"Yes Alpha!"
1 spend longer at training than I had anticipated, I was conscious that I was keeping Jude waiting but this was about the safety of the pack.
We have always held our borders but there is always a first and if enemies got into the central pack grounds, it most likely would be mothers and children that they would attack.
I had to give everybody a fighting chance,
Ezra joins me as I head back to the alpha house, desperate for a shower but that would really be pushing my luck with Jude. He hasn't come all this way for tea and biscuits. Whatever he has to share, he wanted to do it in person. According to the gate guards, he has come alone...Edmund not joining him.
"Sorry bud to keep you waiting..." I swing a glance his way as I walk into my office.
"No worries, Aubrey here is always a pretty sight to pass the time with." He goes on the charm offensive with Aubrey,
"Stop it Alpha, I'm old enough to be your mother."
"Has anyone called you a MILF?" He purrs as she heads for the door, rolling her eyes. A chuckle leaving his chest as he turns to me with a wide grin.
"Seriously Jude..." I sigh out.
"What?"
"She is literally like a mother figure to me..."
"Hence the term Mother fucker...."
"What can I do for you Jude?" I groan out trying to change the subject as I sit at my desk, putting my mobile phone on charge.
"This isn't common knowledge yet, but one of the alphas in the alliance launched an attack on a pack last night, that has been pushing their luck."
"And you know this how?" I look to Ezra who was leaning against the office door having closed it after Aubrey left the room.
"Just listen...the pack that was attacked, the alpha offered to buy the lands but because it is contested lands. he was refused. It's classed as no-man's land. Sacred land not to be touched. But he started to build on it anyway, without permission." "Hence the attack..." I cut in. This was a real political headache. Thank the fuck it's got nothing to do with
1. me.
"Most of the packs locally have now signed a treaty not to attack because it is taking in rogues that want to be rehomed. Clever as fuck to go down the diplomatic route, plus it helps control the rogue problems in that area. If the rogues join this pack, they won't be knocking on the borders of the other packs."
"Where are you going with this." I shake my head, I had a lot to get through today and Jude wasn't getting
to the point.
"The alpha...the alpha that has made claim for the land he has a scar across his eye."
Holy shit! This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"That's got to be Beckett."
"Sounds like it. Apparently his Luna has been arranging the treaty agreements. However, they were attacked after our alliance pack received intelligence that Beckett was looking to extend his lands further. "Did they leave Beckett alive?"
"He wasn't there. Apparently the Luna led the defence. But here's the thing...the attacking alpha called off the fight during the actual attack. He made his warriors retreat, even though they were winning." "What, why?"
He pauses, standing up to look at the map on my wall. It has been added to every day, it wouldn't be long until it ripped under all the pins. You could barely see the map any more, it was covered by a sea of red pin heads. Jude's eyes go to the picture of Beckett pinned to the side of the map before turning back to me, his hands in his front pockets.
