Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Bond 187

Hector POV

The Doctor bursts through the door, as Kala slowly stands up as I rip her towards me, placing her safely within my arms, pissed off at myself for letting her get so close to potential danger. Something was wrong something was wrong through the bond with Rosa. She wanted to cause harm, she wanted to make Kaia feel the same pain as her.

Rosa retreats back in on herself, huddling back in the corner a complete contrast to the she wolf of only a few days ago.

My command lands on her thick and heavy, the command of her alpha but also of the mate of the pack's luna.

If I didn't get Kaia out of here soon I knew I would shift, my wolf was bubbling under the service... preparing to force the shift and remind pack members that violence against their Luna would be severely punished. "Luna?" The doctor takes a look at Kaia's face as she covers the majority of the scratch marks with her hands.

I'm fine..." She mutters out to the head doctor.

"Alpha, I would suggest removing Luna and I'll pop by in a bit...."

"No.I want to stay." Kala looks up at me, determined.

"She just tried attacked you.." I growl out.

"She just needs to sleep." Kaia whispers looking back at Rosa. She was right, Rosa was sleep deprived and needed a chance for her body and most importantly, mind, to heal.

"Sedate her.." I order at the doctor as I remove my command from her.

*Alpha?"

"Sedate her, we will reassess after she has had some rest."

"I should have clawed you." Her voice is demonic, low not our Rosa's.

"What did you just say?" I take a step closer towards her.

"You...you aren't any better. You took her choice away just like he did to her...like he did to me."

My eyes bore into her, daring her to say another word.

"Sedate her, that's an order!" I roar out, my body trembling with anger.

I take a reluctant Kaia away back to the alpha house, her initial angry protests at me for removing her from the scene, have now quickly turn to silence...my chest tight with knowing exactly what she was thinking. She was thinking on what Rosa said.

I walk her into the kitchen, lifting her onto a stool at the kitchen island without her even realising what

was going on.

She was so deeply in her own mind that her wolf was moving her body for her. I wet a kitchen towel to clean the slight blood off her face, the cool compress bringing her back to the present. Her hand going upon mine that is holding the compress against a cheek. Her healing was already kicking in, the scratch marks fading away. She opens her mouth, prearping to speak...I groan internally at the incoming questions.

"What did she mean..forget...what did I forget that she would be envious of?" I knew this was coming, I had worked on my reply on the walk back from Rosa's but I still can't think on what to say.

I can't tell her, I can't break her.

"I don't know." I lie, keeping the truth from her. To me it kept her safe, kept her from the harm the past brought. Why would I so willingly let her relive that?

I had already mind-linked the head doctor to not come over, that Kaia's scratch had almost healed.

He updated me on Rosa; he had put her under sedation and had agreed with her family to admit her, When she awoke, he would assess her completely and discuss a plan going forward based on how she is after some rest.

He was hoping as was I, that with some rest she would get back on track. The fight between Riley and Samson had obviously triggered her memories.

I was with Kala and Aubrey in the office, talking about Jude's upcoming alliance gathering, when my phone starts to ring.

Alora's name coming up on the caller's ID.

I excuse myself as I leave the office and walk out the front of the house away from listening ears.

She never called me, she only called Kala, which meant whatever she had to say...wasn't for Kaia's ears.

"Alora?"

"Than's men are here. Did you know?" She shouts down the phone to me, I could hear her footsteps pacing on the other end of the line.

"No." But it didn't surprise me. Than was readable, knowing I am not there, he has sent his own warriors to keep any eye on his own Luna.

A Luna that no longer wishes to be part of the Amber Desert pack any more. He can't help himself, always trying to control her. "Why would he do this?"

"Than was here." I admit out with a sigh.

She pauses, the footsteps stopping.

"Why?"

Now it is my turn to pause.

"Yes."

"Is she okay?"

"She was fine Alora, she didn't remember him." I roll my eyes, what did she take me for.

"She could have, you need to be more careful." She scoffs which only increases my raising irritation.

"If she did remember him I would have rather it was with me. Don't speak to me as if I don't know what I am doing..." I snarl down the phone to her, her attitude angering me.

"Do you know what you are doing? Because she is with you only because I allowed it." She seethes down the phone to me.

"What the fuck does that mean?"

"She's the alpha here Hector."

"She's my luna."

"And she has a pack here... if I need to take her from you I will." She can't back her threat up with anything. but it fucks me off nonetheless.

"Don't you dare threaten me..." I roar down the phone to her as Kaia walks out the front door looking at me perplexed.

"Who is it?" She mouths at me.

"Alora."

"Can I talk when you are done." She whispers.

"We are done." I place the phone out to Kaia before heading back inside to cool down.
