Chapter 110
Kaia POV
Alora insisted that she didn't want to rest after the doctor's appointment, I needed to give her more credit, she was strong in so many other ways.
We w
were giving her a short tour of the pack grounds, Samson doing the same with Freya.
I had asked for Samson to give Freya the full tour knowing she could handle the distance whereas Aloral might struggle.
This was very different to the pack Alora grew up in, the majority of the pack members being previous rogues would give her a level of insecurity, when she is used to a safe pack members and safe borders.
"Security is a bit different to your previous pack....but with some time you'll get used to it." I offer out to her as she gives me a concerned look of the number of guards on boarder patrol.
The Amber Desert Pack had security measures of cause but nothing to this level, not with guards and warriors so openly out in eyesight.
She'll get used to the threat of an attack at any moment, she'll learn to live with it as I did.
That's if she chooses to stay.
"What pack did you grow up in?" Father asks conversationally at me mentioning her old pack. Her eyes flicker to me with panic.
"Don't worry child, I won't be demanding that the pack's alpha and luna inform me of how you ended up in their pack......not yet anyway." His comment, which he says with black humour behind it, does nothing to qualm her fears. "Alora grew up in the Amber Desert Pack." I answer for her as a warrior starts walking over to Father, gaining his attention.
"I haven't told Father certain things, please don't overshare.." I plead with her quietly in her ear, the moment Father's concentration is temporarily lapsed.
"Don't worry I wont." She whipsers back, nodding in understanding.
"So, what title did your parents hold in the pack?"
"My parents were friends to the alpha family... they both died and I moved in with the alpha family. They took care of me."
1 can see you aren't marked?" Father follows glancing at her neck, which doesn't hold a mate mark.
"Well no, not officially yet..." Her eyes glance to me in awkwardness.
"Good."
"Good?" She chuckles at his bluntness.
"I wouldn't want a mate turning up to take you away from your new pack.."
"Away from my new pack?"
"You will join this pack, no? As my daughter, as Kaia's sister..." I can sense Alora increasingly becoming more uncomfortable.
"I hadn't given it much thought yet...I haven't thought that far ahead."
"But you're home with us now and my wolf won't be satisfied until he can feel you through the pack link. That's why you came yes to be reunited with family?"
I roll my eyes looking away from Father as he lays it on thick, pressuring Alora. He didn't mean to, he just wanted her back. To him, nothing else mattered. "I'm not sure..."
"Give it some thought Alora....there's no rush..." I cut in, giving her some breathing space.
I understood Father's keenness to have both daughters under the same pack-link, but I know for a fact it will force Than to take action.
He won't have Alora in any other pack than his and it will lead to him being at the pack's gates. Something, I wasn't ready for,
"Kaia...honestly." Father huffs at me.
"Father, Alora has a mate from the same pack. He will feel the pack-link break when she joins ours.." "The only person that can feel a pack-link break is an alpha...are you a Luna Alora?" His eyes light up. "Erm, I'm not marked so..." "But your mate is an alpha?"
I could see Father already thinking, see the cogs turning in his mind. For the sake of our people he wouldn't be opposed to asking for help, asking for more fighters from an alliance pack.
"Yes, my mate is an alpha." She looks to me hesitantlyNôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
"Good, good."
Father suggests that Alora and I head back to the alpha mansion as he checks the borders with his warriors.
As we walk back to the alpha house, I feel torn between my needs and Alora's. If she joined the Nightshade Reformed Pack, Father would be ecstatically happy but Than would feel the break in the pack- link with Alora. That is what fears me, that Than would find her here and all my dirty laundry would be aired out in pack public. He would tell Father I held the key to Alora's survival and I couldn't put Father in that position of choosing. "Alora, Than would feel the pack-link break....you would need to consider what that would mean for the both of you.
"You don't want me to be in this pack?" She stops at the bottom of the staircase.
"...erm, no that's not it. I just...I haven't shared things with Father and I don't think I could cope with Than turning up at the gates. But that's my problem to bare Alora, you must do what you want. If you want to be
in this pack then I will support that, but if you want to go back to the Amber Desert Pack...then being at member of this pack might take that option away from you.
Once Father is your Alpha, he will protect you as his...he won't take lightly to Than's demands."
"What are you saying?" A small frown forms upon her lips.
"You need to make peace with the fact, that you may never see Than again."
