Chapter 71
Ian Raymond contemplated shooing the dog away, but then he noticed the white dog barking fiercely at
a couple passing by, possible employees from the nearby office building. They were with a child who
was scared to tears by the dog’s barking. The lady pulled her child behind her, staring angrily at lan.
“What’s your deal? Walking your dog without a leash? That’s really irresponsible. What if your dog had
bitten my child? Owning a dog comes with responsibilities!”
Her husband recognizing lan’s air of sophistication and the luxurious car parked behind him, quickly
tugged at his wife, urging her to stop. “Alright, enough.” They couldn’t afford to offend someone like
this.
The lady, still concerned for her child, didn’t care about lan’s status at that moment. She huffed while
wiping her child’s tears,
“Think you’re a big shot just because you’re rich? Such a lack of manners!”
lan frowned and retorted, “This isn’t my dog.”
As soon as he said this, the dog wagged its tail at him and started circling around him.
lan’s eyes narrowed, his face turning serious.
After wiping her child’s tears, the lady retorted, “And you’re still saying it’s not your dog?!”
Jeff squatted down and checked the dog tag hanging around the dog’s neck.
‘There’s a phone number on this tag. The dog probably escaped from home. I’ll call its owner right
away.”
Recognizing their sincerity, the lady didn’t cause a scene and left with her child. Jeff promptly made the
call.
Maja Pennyfeather had been looking for Coco outside but to no avail. She was imagining all sorts of
scenarios, the worst being Coco getting caught by dog thieves. Coco had a dog tag, so if a passerby
found her, they would probably call her. Just as she was lost in her thoughts, her phone rang. It was an
unfamiliar number.
“Hello,” Maja answered, sounding anxious.
“Hi, are you the owner of this dog? It’s with us right now. Do you know Raymond Tower? We’re outside
the car park of Raymond Tower.”
In this city, everyone knows about Raymond Tower.
Maja was puzzled. How did Coco end up there?
“Okay, thank you. I’ll be there in ten minutes. Can you look after her for a bit? I can pay you for your
trouble.”
Jeff glanced at lan, who was looking at Coco, seemingly deep in thought. Coco was sitting cutely on
the ground, her ears twitching up and down.
Seeing no objection from lan, Jeff nodded, “Alright, we’ll wait for you for ten minutes.”
Maja didn’t know who had found Coco. She hit the gas and headed straight for the agreed meeting
point.
After ending the call, Jeff gestured towards a nearby coffee shop. “Mr. Raymond, you can sit over there
for now. I’ll go buy a leash.”
lan’s lingered on Coco once again. The dog seemed familiar. However, being allergic to dog fur, he
didn’t want to confirm anything. He entered the coffee shop, put on his Bluetooth headset, and started
an online meeting.
Jeff and Coco went to a nearby pet store to buy a leash. Once Coco was secured, they returned to the
front of Raymond Tower.
Though Jeff was not particularly interested in dogs, he acknowledged that Coco was a good-looking
dog. Her fur was well-groomed and she was obedient, indicating that her owner took good care of her.
Jeff didn’t dare to play with the dog in front of lan. He just petted her twice outside the coffee shop
before taking her in. Coco, however, displayed an affinity for lan and constantly tried to approach him.
Maja walked in and immediately noticed the man sitting by the window. His arms were long, his brows
slightly furrowed. He was just sitting there, but his elegance and posture were evident. His slender
hand resting on the keyboard as he maintained a calm and confident demeanor.
Wondering why she would encounter lan here, her gaze shifted to Coco by lan’s leg. Ian’s assistant,
Jeff, held the dog back, preventing Coco from advancing.
lan, composed and undisturbed, continued his meeting in silence. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Remembering what Selena Casson had mentioned, Maja quickly approached lan.
“Mr. Raymond.”
She called out, clutching the prepared cash in her hand, unsure whether to hand it over.
For anyone else, a simple tip would do. However, how much would ten minutes of lan’s time be worth?
