Chapter 290
lan was still a bit under the weather today, but his rash was gone.
He had a stern look on his face while Rita was still hanging around for his response.
lan didn’t bother to answer; he just moved on and got into the elevator.
Rita was left standing there, feeling a bit awkward. She quickly scurried back to her desk.
Once inside the elevator, Jeff noticed the redness in lan’s cheeks due to the fever and said, “Mr.
Raymond, you really should go home and rest.”
lan had been burning up all night and was looking a bit knackered. He rubbed his forehead and finally
couldn’t help but say, “If Penny calls, you handle the RosenGarden stuff.”
The meeting was going to be a long one and Jeff wasn’t going in; he was staying outside.
lan’s phone would be left in his office. Even if he took it with him, it would be on silent. This overseas
acquisition meeting was a big deal.
Business at the Raymond Group always went on like this. They were constantly buying out other
companies.
Jeff had a hunch that Mr. Raymond had a soft spot for Ms. Penny.
“Alright.”
lan nodded, left his phone in his office, and joined the senior executives in the conference room.
But once he sat down, what he was thinking about was the video he saw last time. In the video, a woman was cussing someone out, and Maja told him it was just the neighbor doing some renovations.
He had to laugh to himself.
What a load of bull.

Maja didn’t leave RosenGarden. Instead, she went to the building where Leah lived.
She had gotten all the info she needed from the security guard on the first floor.
Leah owned a karaoke bar and was loaded. Her husband was home today.
Maja knocked on the door, and a middle–aged man with a sinister look on his face answered. He gave
off a bad vibe.
“Hello, are you Leah’s husband?”
He nodded and cracked a sleazy smile.
“So you’re the new girl Leah hired? Have you started working at the karaoke bar yet? Are you a
virgin?”
Maja frowned and took a step back.
He strode forward, seeming a bit eager.
“Come on in; I’ll be done in ten minutes. It won’t interfere with your work.“”
Maja nearly burst out laughing. She’d thought Leah’s husband could keep her in check, but he turned
out to be even worse than Leah.
No wonder Leah was so bold about having affairs.
But she picked up on a key phrase.
“Work? Werk at the karaoke bar?”
He sneered.
“Don’t play innocent. A few women came over before, looking to make some extra cash. Sleep with me
and Leah will give you raise. Let’s go!”
He reached out to grab Maja.
Maja quickly stepped back.
He squinted his eyes and finally realized something was off. He frowned and his
eyes
turned cold.
“Aren’t you one of the prostitutes from the karaoke bar?”
But Maja was already in the elevator and had kicked him out!
Her heart was racing. Seeing the elevator going down, she finally let out a sigh of relief.
When the elevator stopped on the first floor, she first made sure she was safe with the security guard
and then called the police to report Leah’s karaoke bar for illegal activities.
i
The man was going to come after her, indicating he realized he’d slipped up.
Maja quickly got out of RosenGarden and into her car, letting out a sigh of relief.
Her palms were sweaty. She was glad she reacted quickly. Otherwise, who knows what could have
happened if that man had dragged her into his apartment?
She had been too careless and underestimated the risk Leah posed.
She wiped the sweat off her forehead with a tissue and hurriedly drove to the hospital.
Two hours later, the police stormed into RosenGarden and sealed off Leah’s home.
Her husband, realizing he had slipped up and failed to catch Maja, had already fled.
Leah was handcuffed. Her face was pale and her swagger was gone.

speechless. Leah was put in a police car, clueless as to how her illegal business she’d been running for
so long was suddenly exposed.
But she might never find out.
When Maja returned to RosenGarden from the hospital, everyone was talking about Leah.
She hired cleaners to deal with the garbage at her door and explained her feud with Leah to the
residents.
Clearing this up now was the best move, considering Leah was in jail and word of the karaoke bar had
spread throughout the community.
“Leah started harassing me because I reported her karaoke bar. She dumped trash at my door and
spread rumors about my personal life. I’m actually a graduate of Solstice College and have a proper
job. I hope you won’t be fooled by rumors.”
Solstice College was one of the top universities in the country and a dream school for many parents.
Leah was in jail and Maja was a distinguished graduate of Solstice College. People knew who to
believe.
Rita was fuming as she watched the residents go from initially despising and rejecting Maja to now
singing her praises.
