Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 285

Both of them stayed silent. Maja stayed frozen in the same position and tried hard to keep her cool.

towel from the side and wiped his fingertips dry.

Even though the whole process didn’t take more than a minute, Maja felt like it lasted a century.

lan tossed the used paper towel into a nearby trash can and chuckled softly at the sight of her forced

calmness.

“Am I really that scary?”

She was normally quick–witted but was now scared and speechless.

Maja had no choice but to look up at him.

“You’re my boss; of course I’m scared of you.”

lan glanced at the mark behind her ear, which she obviously missed due to haste.

“Did you have a good time dining with your husband?”

Did your husband not propose a divorce after seeing you like this?

Maja quickly responded, “Coco had an incident this evening; Nathan was busy too, so I didn’t go.”

lan nodded, then exited at the sound of Carlene’s voice from outside.

Maja stood still, breathing a sigh of relief.

Just as she picked up a paper towel to dry her fingers, lan came back and leaned in, whispering in her

ear, “Let’s forget what happened two hours ago.”

Maja stiffened, then her eyes filled with relief, as if it was all she ever wanted.

She finally relaxed, and their interaction became more natural.

“I know, you’re worried Ms. Shepard would get jealous. Don’t worry, I’ll keep it a secret.”

lan stood in front of her, looking down at her relaxed demeanor as his eyes darkened.

He scanned her slowly, his voice icy.

“You’re quite sensible.”

Maja always felt this comment was sarcastic, but she didn’t know why.

Did she do anything to offend him?

She furrowed her brows, about to ask him, only to realize he’d already left. Carlene’s voice echoed

from outside.

“lan, let’s go. Can you drive me home? I’m so worried tonight.”

Despite the distance, Maja heard him reply, “Sure.”

She looked down at her hand, rubbing it as if the foam was still there.

lan drove Carlene home. Carlene sat in the passenger seat, cradling a docile ragdoll cat that seemed a

bit weak.

At a traffic light, lan’s gaze fell on a hotel entrance where Nathan and a female colleague stood.

The woman clung to him, and Nathan didn’t resist as they walked into the hotel together.

From a distance, through the bright lobby, he saw Nathan plant a kiss on the woman’s cheek. She

laughed, playfully hit his -shoulder, and they frolicked into the elevator.

He couldn’t see anything beyond that. He remembered what Maja had said earlier.

“Nathan was busy too.”

He was indeed very busy.

Then he regained his calm and hit the accelerator.

Carlene’s voice came from the side.

“lan, I should meet your wife.”

His inner thoughts scattered, and lan furrowed his brows.

“Why do you want to meet her?”

“I’m just curious. I want to see what the woman Holden fancies looks like.”

“I’ve signed a contract with her. Once my grandfather recovers, we’ll divorce.”” Carlene stiffened, and a

huge wave of joy welled up in her eyes.
