Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 276

Maja had no clue about the look on her face; her eyes were welling up because her design was being

questioned.

As a designer, this was worse than being criticized in person.

She wasn’t smiling; her eyes glistened and flickered twice.

“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but I heard Ms. Shepard calling you. I know you guys have a date

tonight.”

lan just sat there quietly, watching her.

“Don’t your folks mind that you’re still living in a hotel after getting married?”

Maja was a bit taken aback by his sudden change of topic, but she answered truthfully anyway.

“My family has some stuff going on, and it’s closer to the hospital from here.”

“Why are you staying on my floor?”

J

He hadn’t used his key card yet; he just stood there, looking at her.

He looked casual, but his gaze was sharp as a knife, ss if he was trying to see right through her.

“There was a mix–up with my room reservation, and the hotel upgraded me to the presidential suite as

compensation.” Maja said with a sincere smile on her face.

“The service at the Raymond Group’s hotels is really top–notch.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she could feel a chill in the air.

lan’s casual demeanor was gone; his gaze was deep.

“Is that the only reason?”

For a moment, Maja wasn’t sure what kind of answer he sought. Wasn’t it good to praise the Raymond

Group?

She was confused and laughed awkwardly, “Mr. Raymond, I’m not sure what you’re getting at.”

lan chuckled lightly, feeling a slight constriction in his chest.

For the first time, he felt a bit of anger. And it was this woman who had provoked it.

He took his eyes off her and unlocked the door with his key card.

“What did you need to talk to me about tonight?”

Maja followed him inside, her tone sincere, “I want to hand over the Greenfield Gardens project to

someone else.”

lan stopped in his tracks. He didn’t turn on the lights, and neither did Maja.

Maja stood behind him without closing the door, so the light from the hallway spilled in. Their

overlapping shadows appeared in front of them.

Watching the shadow, lan’s fingers stiffened slightly. Her voice still came from behind him.

“Ms. Shepard knows more talented designers. Here are all the materials I’ve prepared so far. I’m

unsure if the new designer will need them, but I’ll leave them with you.”

She walked past lan, placing the materials on the coffee table.

The room wasn’t dark due to the light from the hallway.

The air was filled with her scent, mixing with his, slowly settling.

“Mr. Raymond, I believe others can do a better job.”

After putting down the materials, she turned around, walked up to him.

She didn’t say anything terrible about Carlene. After all, Carlene was his first love. Saying anything negative might stir up trouble.

lan stood in the doorway, his suit hugging his perfect figure. His collarbone was exposed because

he had undone his tie.

Maja intended to walk past him. She thought she had made her point clear, and there was nothing

more to say.

But he raised his hand, resting it on the opposite door frame.

His long, strong arm blocked her way.

Maja wasn’t sure what she was thinking, maybe it was just a reflex, but she instinctively tried to duck

under his arm. However, his arm moved down a few inches, continuing to block her path.

Her nose almost touched the fabric of his suit. She had no choice but to stand up straight and look up

at him.

At that moment, his eyelashes lowered, the outside light shone on his face, and his features became

more distinct. He looked calm and noble, his deep eyes like whirlpools, as if they were about to suck

her in.

Their breaths intertwined, making her cheeks flush. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Maja’s hand hanging by her side started to sweat.

The lights in the room were still off, the ambiguous atmosphere spreading throughout the room,

enveloping the two of them, making it hard for her to breathe.
