Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 1817

“Ms. Pennyfeather, is this enough?” After delivering the punch, Cornelia turned to Maja for approval.

Maja, her belly now more pronounced with pregnancy, sat down. Ian rushed to her side, his voice laced with concern, “Haven’t I told you to stay out of these things?”

“And you have the nerve to say that? If it weren’t for me spotting that text from Carol, I’d still be in the dark about her being bullied by that woman.”

Sure, Carol getting pushed around by Felix was one thing; she seemed to have signed up for it. If she wanted to be treated like a doormat, that was her business.

But Listina? Who did she think she was, trying to lord it over Carol?

Ian fell silent, patting Maja’s back gently while trying to explain, “Last night, when Carol texted, it was too late to disturb you, but I sent safeguards over to protect her.”

Maja knew he meant well, but she couldn’t help feeling suffocated by the situation.

Ian tenderly touched her shoulder, “There, there, everyone is here now. Think about the baby. Take a deep breath in, and let it out.”

She was still angry, but seeing his cautious demeanor made her want to laugh, “It’s not that dramatic.”

Ian thought to himself, she was furious and called it “not that dramatic”? Felix was going to pay for this when he showed up.

Maja’s gaze shifted to Listina. If it hadn’t been for Ian’s intervention the night before, she dreaded to think what might have happened to Carol. Even if Carol was smart and had taken precautions, what about next time? Or the time after that?

Listina’s eyes were swollen with fear at the sight of the group before her. One of them she recognized: Cornelia, a celebrity on the rise, with multiple awards to her name and nearly seventy million Twitter followers.

As for Ian, his face was familiar from the finance papers, always accompanied by a string of impressive titles.

And Maja - after the global press conference Mr. Sanders had recently held in her defense, her identity was now widely known.

Listina couldn’t afford to provoke any of them and could only call Felix for help.

Bitter resentment bled through her thoughts. Why did Carol have connections with such people? Why did they stand up for her? Carol was nothing but a bankrupt heiress, a tramp scorned for her dealings with men, wasn't she?

The taste of blood lingered in her mouth. If only these people would take her side, how much better her situation would be.

She didn’t dare look at Maja or Ian, her only hope rested on Felix. Her cheeks were swollen, her hair a mess.

Cornelia flicked her wrist, embodying the role of the villainess. She raised her hand and slapped Listina again, “What’s with that look? Who gave you permission to glare at Ms. Pennyfeather?”

Cornelia was Maja’s staunchest ally, and seeing the malice in Listina’s eyes, she didn’t hold back.

Listina hastily apologized, “I didn’t mean to.”

As her voice trailed off, the sound of a car engine filled the yard. Hope flickered in Listina's eyes as she shouted toward the outdoors.

“Felix! Save me, please come save me!!”

The sound of the front door opening announced Felix’s arrival, dressed in a sleek black suit.

It had been a while since Maja had seen him, and she noted that his presence had changed dramatically. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

Felix first glanced at Listina. Scrambling on the floor, Listina tried to reach him but was dragged back by Cornelia, “Felix, help me! They’re all lunatics! How dare they lay their hands on me?”

Tears streamed down Listina’s cheeks, but then she heard Felix’s voice, “Listina, it’s time to issue the letter of understanding.”

The car accident that involved Abner had resulted in the death of loved ones to both of them. Listina had no intention of issuing any letter of understanding; she wanted Abner to rot in jail.

If not death, then Felix’s manipulations should ensure Abner's demise behind bars.

“I won’t do it!”

Felix’s expression remained impassive as he patted her head, “Be good.”

Without compliance, she had no chance of walking out of there alive today.

Maja found the whole scene amusing. She had always known Felix was crafty, but she hadn’t expected him to regain control so swiftly.

Right now, what Carol needed most were the letter of understanding from Felix and Listina. Given the circumstances, Listina had no choice but to issue hers.

As for Felix, whether he would follow through remained to be seen. After all, he still held Carol’s fate in his hands. In critical moments like these, he was clear-headed indeed.
