Deadly Affairs

I wasn’t sure if I was actually seeing him or hallucinating so I scratched my eyes severally only to see that he was still there and staring at me deeply like he was staring into my soul.

Conniption gripped me immediately and I froze on my spot. Oh no, he found me.

“Finally found you wifey.” He mouthed to me before giving me a creepy smile that sent a shiver down my spine. Then he drove off.

I felt goosebumps and all the hair on my skin had already risen up. I can’t believe he found me and here I was, thinking that I was finally free from his clutches.

For six years, six good years, I could finally breath again. I didn’t have to live in fear of what’s going to happen tomorrow. I was finally in the midst of people that loved me whole heartedly.

But all the good things I thought I had, that I had built over the years came crashing down right before my very eyes but I couldn’t do anything to stop it. It took just one look from him for me to realise I would never be free from him.

It made me recall what he had said to me the night I thought I had finally escaped from him. He said that I would never be free from him and he would hunt me down and make me pay for escaping.

What do I do now? I can’t go back to him. A tear escaped my eyes. Why does my life have to be like this?? Why can’t I just live a normal life like others??? Why does my past keep coming to haunt me?

First it was Ryan, now its Jason. Why are they looking for me??? I placed my head on the steering wheel and allowed the tears to run down my face freely.

Why now?? Why do they have to come now that I am finally figuring myself out?

I couldn’t go to the hospital anymore because Jason already knew where Molly is so, I couldn’t leave her alone. I called in sick and decided to wait till she closes from school.

I called Dad and told him not to bother himself that I was going to pick up Molly from school that day and he agreed.

I can’t let Jason meet with my daughter but what do I do? He already knows the school she attends and I can’t keep waiting for her in front of her school gate every day.

I need a permanent solution to my problems but what do I do? Think Natasha, think. I racked any brain for ideas.

I smiled happily when I had finally gotten an idea. I hope this one would be permanent because I can’t keep running all my life.

After waiting for hours, the school bell rang indicating that it was closing time already. I came out of my car and stood, waiting to see Molly amongst the hoard of students walking out of the gate.

“Molly.” I called when I had finally seen her walking out of the school. She smiled happily when she saw me. She ran towards my open arms and hugged me tightly.

“Why are you here instead of grandpa?” She asked when she noticed dad wasn’t there to pick her up.

“I told him not to come today. I wanted to be the one to pick you from school. Aren’t you happy?” I asked.

“I am. I’m just surprised because you never picked me up from school since you always had to close late from the hospital.” She answered.

“I decided to make a difference for you today. Let’s go home.” I said before I placed her in the car and buckled her seatbelt for her. I entered the driver’s seat and started the car before driving off.

“How was school today??” I decided to ask.

“It was fine. Our Class teacher made te draw our family members today.” She answered.

“That’s great. Where’s your drawing?” I asked. She dipped her hands into her bag and brought out her drawing book.

We were in front of a cross walk so I had to stop because the traffic light showed red.

“See mine.” She said after opening it for me. I collected it and almost laughed out when I saw the amateur drawing.

” Here’s you, Grandma, Grandpa, nanny Abigail and me. One complete family.” She said as she pointed to the drawings.

“It’s beautiful.” I complimented. The traffic light finally turned green so I started car and continued driving.

“Really? My teacher said my drawing was the best so she gave me higher marks.” She boasted.

“That’s really great. Keep it safe so you’ll show everyone when you get home.” I said.

“Okay.” The answered before putting it back in her bag pack.

“Molly.” I called after some minutes of silence.

“Yes mommy.” She answered.

“Do you like your current school?” I asked. She was silent for a while like she didn’t know the answer to my question.

“Yes.” She answered hesitantly after some time. It was like she was forced to say yes. It made me wonder if something was wrong.

“Okay. What do you like about your school?” I asked again but she wasn’t able to give me a good answer.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

“I just like it.” She said. Wierd.

“Okay. Would you be sad if I made you change school??” I asked.

“You want to change my school?” She asked happily. Alright, that isn’t the reaction I was expecting.

“It was just an idea. I was wondering if you would be sad if you changed school.” I answered.

“I can’t be sad. I would get to meet new people so that makes me really happy.” She answered.

“But don’t you have friends you would be leaving behind if you changed school?” I asked.

“I don’t.” She answered curtly.

“Not even one.”

“No.” She answered.

“Why not?” I asked in surprise. Molly was an easy going child and she was really friendly to everyone so her not having friends came as a real surprise to me.

“No reason.” She answered. I stopped the car at the side of the road and turned to face her.

“Are you hiding something from me?” I asked her but the just bowed her head and chose to remain quiet.

“Molly.” I called as I lifted her chin up so she could face me.

“I am your mother. You don’t have to hide anything from me. How would I know when something is wrong with you if you don’t tell me anything?? Tell me the reason you don’t have any friends at school.” I demanded.

She stared at me in hesitation before she finally said something.

“The reason is because I always getting bullied in school for not having a dad.” She muttered, sadness was evident in her tone.

What????
