Chapter 53
Chapter 53
It was all foreshadowed, wasn’t it?
Ever since Sierra’s return, it was already evident that all of this would end in disaster before
Gisele even divorced Dorian.
She had mistakenly believed that she could give the baby enough love to let them gro happily, despite Dorian’s absence as their father figure.
grow up
Meanwhile, Dorian was tending to Sierra at St. Anne Hospital. As he gently applied an ice pack to Sierra’s injuries, his entire being radiated an air of aloofness.
On the way to the hospital, Sierra had tried to talk to Dorian several times. However, he had consistently avoided her gaze, as if he hadn’t wanted to talk to her.
Suddenly, a phone rang out in the room.
Dorian took out his phone and glanced at it. After that, he handed the ice pack to Sierra and said, “I’m going to answer the call. Wait here for me.”
“Don, I-“Sierra’s beautiful eyes flickered as she looked at Dorian.
Before she could finish speaking, he had already walked away.
Sierra gently bit her l*p. She knew she had acted out of line earlier. However, it was all because she felt insecure about their relationship, and Dorian wasn’t doing anything about
1. it.
Despite that, she dared not express those thoughts to him openly.
Dorian walked away and answered the phone. “What’s up?”
“Hey, Doge! You can’t care less about your wife’s life, huh?”
Bernard complained over the phone, “You’re so heartless! You don’t care about Gigi at all, and you don’t even care about the Jefferson family’s reputation. She’s really unlucky to have a husband like you!”
Dorian retorted with a scowl, “Do you think she would be happy if she had a husband who is as flashy as you
are?” Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Dorian and Bernard were childhood friends. They were also close friends who could trust each other with their secrets. The only thing he had never told Bernard was that he was
married to Gisele.
There wasn’t much to say about it anyway, given that his wife was destined to be Sierra.
“Of course! Just look at my ex–girlfriends–wait a minute. What was I going to say again?”
Bernard almost got sidetracked, then hurriedly said, “The person who orchestrated Mr. Doug’s murder has been found. Come over here.’
“Can’t you handle this yourself?” Dorian asked with displeasure.
He wanted nothing to do with Gisele.
Bernard furrowed his brow and said gravely, “Don, this matter is related to your sweetheart.
Η
“Send me your location. I’ll come over now.
After saying that, Dorian immediately hung up the phone.
Was H
case related to Sierra?
A wave of inexplicable irritability washed over him. Dorian felt even worse as he recalled Sierra behaving in a way unbecoming of a lady as she had pestered Gisele at the stall.
Even when Sierra had used up all the ice packs in the ward, Dorian still hadn’t come back.
Hadn’t he just stepped out to answer the phone?
A surge of anxiety swept over Sierra, so she put down the ice pack and walked out. As soon as she reached the entrance, she saw Jon stationed by the door like a guard.
She peered outside and asked, “Mr. Kiss, where’s Don?”
What kind of phone call could have gone on for nearly an hour? Could it have been a call from someone at Jefferson Villa?
“Mr. Jefferson has gone to the police station, and he instructed me to keep you company before he left,” Jon said solemnly.
Why had Dorian gone to the police station?
A surge of fear gripped. Sierra, but she composed herself and said, “Are there any updates from the police? Has Gisele finally been proven innocent?”
Jon glanced strangely at Sierra, his gaze seemingly asking, “Do you really think Mr. Jefferson would head over to the police station if it wasn’t related to you?”
Sierra’s bath hitched as she deciphered Jon’s gaze, and her legs felt weak as she stood
there.
Had Dorian left without telling her because the police had discovered something that linked her to the case?
Impossible!
A middle–aged woman’s voice suddenly rang out from the entrance. “Sierra stays here, right?”
Sierra steadied herself and peered out with a pale face. She couldn’t believe her eyes she saw who it was.
