“Be good while I’m gone, otherwise, I might have to…..”

Louis left the statement incomplete so that Skylar would fill the gap in her head. He kissed her lips before going out of the house.

As soon as she heard the sound of the door, Skylar threw her head straight on the table. She let out a sigh of relief. A pool of tears accompanied the sigh.

She bit her lips to stop herself from crying loudly. Especially when the guards are watching her keenly.

“Ma’am your tutor is here.” Helen’s voice made her raise her head abruptly. She glanced in Helen’s direction.

Steven’s head popped out from behind Helen, and he waved at her. “Hello, Skylar.”

Skylar wiped her tears. She got up and excused herself. “I’ll be right back.”

Skylar tried to run her way up the stairs, but she couldn’t. Her legs hurt so much. She could barely move them. Biting her lips, she took the steps slowly as she went up the stairs. She threw herself on the bed and cried her heart out.

Her body was in pain. Her pride was broken. Likewise, her dignity was shattered, and her heart feels squashed.

What was left of her life?

Skylar took her time weeping. She had completely forgotten that Steven was waiting. Helen came up to remind her.

“Oh… Uhm… I’ll be there right away.” Skylar went to the bathroom to wash her face, but that wasn’t enough to hide her swollen eyes.

After walking a step away from Helen, she remembered that Louis has been having unprotected intercourse with her.

What if she gets pregnant?

“No. I mustn’t!” Skylar shook her head.

She is too young to be pregnant. Especially not for a monster like Louis. She would never give birth to his child

“Tell me, ma’am,” Helen became attentive. She knew something was wrong with Skylar, but she couldn’t dare to inquire, for fear of being caught by Louis.

Skylar glanced around to be sure that there was no one around or some hidden cameras. Louis can go to any length just to watch her. She wouldn’t be surprised if he has some cameras hidden somewhere in the room.

“Can you get some contraceptives?” She finally asked.

“Huh?” Helen was stunned. She wasn’t expecting Skylar to ask such a favor of her.

“I need it.” Skylar’s voice cracked. She bit her lips and tried to hide the desperation in her tone.

“Uhm… I don’t think that’s a good idea. The boss won’t like that.” Helen strongly advised. She pursed her lips and tried to haul back the tears at the brink of her eyes.

Skylar doesn’t care if Louis liked it or not. She mustn’t get pregnant. If that happens, she won’t be getting her freedom if she does.

“Please,” Skylar beseech.

“The boss….”

“He won’t find out!” Skylar shouted before Helen could state her reason for refusal.

“Still ma’am, he will be mad if he finds out.” Helen shook her head as she politely declined.

“It’s okay,” Skylar pursed her lips and nodded bitterly.

What was she expecting? The lady works for Louis even before she arrived. Of course, her loyalty would be to Louis.

They all fear and obey him only.

Skylar went out of the room to attend the day’s class. Taking her steps slowly to hide her sloppy walks, Skylar descended the stairs rather sluggishly.

“Welcome,” Steven smiled seeing her again. He was worried earlier when she left with so much melancholy sitting on her beautiful face.

Her eyes were swollen and bloodshot, a perfect description of someone who just cried a river.

“Thank you.” Skylar tried to smile, but the pain in her heart was so much that it killed every joy before it reaches her eyes.

“Ready for today’s class?” Steven asked as he put out his hand to help her come down the last stairs.

“Yes, I am,” Skylar replied with an appreciative smile.

Judging from the fact that Steven was able to read her even on his first day, Skylar wasn’t the least surprised to see him offer his hand. She knew he must notice her sloppy steps.

Did he know the reason why her steps have been altered?

Skylar took his hand and offered a smile. With her hand still in his, she moved towards the small space set aside for her classes, she was about to sit but was pulled by Steven.

“No ma’am, we won’t be having today’s class here.”

“Huh?” Skylar met Steven’s playful smile. His eyes stared deeply into hers. Skylar looked away from him and tried to wriggle out of his hold, but Steven held tightly to her as if he was afraid of losing her.

“Where are we having today’s class and why?”

Steven studied her. From her swollen lips to her sloppy walk and the neatly hidden Hickey around her neck. He could tell that she wasn’t displeased, her swollen, bloodshot eyes tell the tale of how much she’s cried.

“How far did that bastard go anyway? Steven cursed Louis in his thoughts.

He knew that she wouldn’t appreciate any word of comfort. Especially not from him, so instead of words he decided to take her out.

“We’ll be going out for today’s class and the reason is to show you how outdoor experiences contribute to making you a good wife for your husband.”

At the word husband, Skylar clenched her fist beside her. She hated the word. Besides, Louis wasn’t her husband, he never acted like one. Instead, he treated her like a toy; purchased only for his sexual pleasure.

“But is it _

“You’ll learn a lot, I promise.” Steven tapped his chest proudly.

He knew that she will feel better once she steps out.

“I should call Louis and inform him.” Skylar tried to move, but Steven wouldn’t let go. Skylar turned to look at his hand. She opened her mouth to speak, but Steven best her to it.

“You don’t have to inform him,” He shook his head. He thinned his lips and raised his brow as if asking her to trust him.

“Louis has asked the guards to keep me in. They won’t let me go out.” Skylar whispered.

“Not if they don’t know it’s you.” Steven shrugged.

Skylar to think about it. She wanted to go out. She wanted to see the city, but Louis already ordered the guards to keep her in. Especially after the phone call she made to Raymond the other day.

She pursed her lips as she thought of what to do. Though she was afraid of getting punished if Louis found out about this, the idea sounded good, too good to let go.

Besides, Louis punishes for just anything. Even when she did nothing wrong, she got punished nonetheless.

Skylar was curious about what the world outside looked like. She wanted to fly like a bird, but she got caged like a canary.

This wasn’t the life she wanted, and she couldn’t wait to escape, but before then she will live life the way she should. Hopefully, Louis wouldn’t find out and if he does, then she’ll gladly accept his punishment.

“So?” Steven nudged her, pulling her out of her reverie.

“I’ll go.”

Steven was pleased with himself. He was happy to see that the barriers built around her, we’re slowly coming off. He smiled and blinked his eyes again, pretending as if he didn’t what she said before.

“Are you sure?”

Steven wanted the response to come from her heart. Lest she regrets if things turn out wrong.

The offer sounded good, and the adventure is definitely worth any punishment she would get from Louis. Skylar nodded and smiled as she took Steven’s hand.

“Let’s do this.”
